If you are talking about Reagan's Speach in 1961, Medicare did not exist. I know of no one advocating the end of Medicare without replacing it with something that works. Everyone knows that Medicare will be bankrupt in a few years. This is concerning for all. This is another example government can't run anything successfully. Name ONE national program the government runs efficiently. So then, why would you want to put the health of your family and yourself in ITS hands?

Yes, RR did speak out against Medicare in his speech to the AMA in 1961. Of course Medicare passed and is supported by the AMA; they also support health care reform.

The public Option is a small part of the proposed legislation and it is not funded by the government. The bigger issue is to prevent families from being kicked off of health insurance because of pre-existing conditions and bringing down the exhorbitant cost of premiums along with helping small business buy affordable coverage.

What you will never hear from RR or any opponent is advocay for neglecting the elderly or needy. But opposition then, like now, has to do with the construction and feasibility of the bill. What has happened? Social Security and Medicare are going bankrupt. It appears the opponents had reason for opposing.

Again, No One IS AGAINST HEALTHCARE REFORM. It's the package that is opposed. AMA does not stand behind the entire package. Neither does AARP. Obama is wrong about this as has been proven. The real question is why would anyone want the Gov't to takeover national healthcare? What has gov't EVER run efficiently? Cost and pre-existing conditions are legitimate concerns and need to be fixed. No one disagrees. But as Rahm said, "never let a good crisis go to waste." Beware my friend.
