When Wizards First Rule came out, I spent 4 months researching the cast for the movie. You're not even close.

Good for you and I don't really care. These are the people I thought fit the part. Does it say anywhere on here that these same actors are universal? To answer I say No. Everyone is going to picture these characters differently because that is how the human mind works. Thank you for stating that my OPINIONS are wrong. never thought of Jim Caviezel as Richard...but he's the closest actor I've seen to how I pictured him in the books. He and Kahlan would definitely be the hardest to cast. Not sure about Charlize Theron...maybe Anne Hathaway or Kate Beckinsale. The rest of the cast would be spot-on though, at least how my mind saw them while reading.

I read this book back in '95 and my cast included Cher for Shota, Matthew McConaughy as Richard, Paul Newman as Zedd, Joanne Woodward as Adie. Yes, I did picture 'The Rock' as Chase. Kahlan was hard...I thought JLo.(shrug). Someone somewhere wanted Kate Walsh as Denna...good choice! Anyway, that was 15 years ago..and stars have changed. Oh, another tube wanted Tom Cruise as Darken Rahl...nice! I would take Christopher Loyd as Nathan.

Kristanna Loken is too pretty to be Cara she doesn't have sharp enough features, and Angelina Jolie doesn't fit right to me ether, but I think you hit Zedd and Darken Rahl's characters perfectly. I'll never be able to place a face on Kahlan and Richard though, No one could ever match up to their wonderful complex character's without disappointing me. Great job though.

Bridget Regan IS perfect.! (I even love Craig Horner) otherwise the show is so different it's ridiculous. I watch it anyway.

You got some list here ... BUT the role for Kathlan WAS/IS meant for briget regan .... it not just the face, its the eye movement . Her simple appearance of 5.9 .... I hope we will see from her more in the years to come.

Perfect Zedd, i thought of Brad Pitt for Darken Rahl(he is suppose to be extremely good looking) and your picks for richard and Kahlan are really good, just not perfect. maybe its impossible for them to be casted perfect. who knows.

I definitely agree on the royal artist. I'm not big on the Richard and Kahlan picks. I think Angelina could make a good Shota, I had never thought of her before. And Denna will always be best as a brunette to me..

@sharastarr Funny the first video I saw of a cast I kept saying when they popped up Shota "Not Angelina Jolie, not Angelina!"  After she was in Beowulf I think "seductive witch woman" is just too predictable a role for her. I have to say, I think that in general, no one will ever be able to cast any movie, series, etc. as well as we can cast it in our heads as we read. Most actors are very similar in stature, etc. so it'd be just too hard.

Id agree with this cast but id put joaquin as richard as he is not skinny like jim (although i love jim too) and id pick ian mckellen as zedd. but yah the people picked for the t.v series suck.. the guy who plays richard is too baby/boyish looking and his body isnt big enough and i just cant take him seriously. and kahlan looks too old for him and not good looking enough.. i dont know but im picky.. so i love the people you picked much better and pretty much identical to mine..lol

Good choices on all but Richard and Kahlan. Just like the mini series, Richard isnt beefy enough. He is supposed to be a burly woods guide.

The many personalities that Richard had in the book will be difficult to pull off The angry Richard, the little boy Richard, the brilliant Seeker, the humble Richard... It's not a bad choice and I do like it. Over all you got it.

Lucius as Darken hmmm. not bad choice. lol i love that everyone wants Bruce in their cast. Zedd is the perfect choce. no better. Theron is ok for kahlan but i think there are better. Richard's choice is too weak for me. I expect more. he doesnt radiate the power i wanted. Nice choices though

well, some of those actors are just too big, and command too much money to do a series on abc, but some of your choices were great and would do the show no problem. I like lloyd for zedd...never thought about it before but now it seems to be quite appealing to me
