Kurosawa and Mifune were unbeatable together! Amongst others like Melville and Delon, Bogart and Huston, Fellini and Mastroianni, Carne and Gabin! Actually, Gabin was a bad ass in every flic. lol

@MrMrdswoods I like how Bill's personality works for Andersons films but I wouldn't place them in the same category as THE GREATS, not yet at least, I'd like to see more out of Anderson.

@PepeTheDon666 I guess I agree with that, I have a bit of a bias cause I absolutely love every Anderson movie with Bill Murray in it, even though I had never liked anything of Murrays before he hooked up with Anderson. But they're probably not in the same league as those you listed, especially Melville/Delon and Fellini/Mastroianni I've been watching my way through those and they are all awesome. As for Mifune I have a lot of movies to watch this is the only one I've seen so far!

Great movie!! A must to rent. Mifune is really fantastic! Proves he can act with out his samurai sword.

Yeah, well, he did that years before in the masterpiece, Stray Dog.

Indeed, he did. Stray Dog was an excellent police procedural as well. In retrospect, I would have never pictured Mifune doing the 'rookie cop' role, but he sure did.
