@XeroedEffects I sold it to move up to a DSLR a few months after buying it :P not because it was a bad camera, quite the contrary. This one helped me learn about photography so I could move on up. This one's wide angle to long zoom lens was amazing, the image stabilization really helped in low light, at long zooms, and in video, and the video was pretty good. Was a good camera :) the SX40HS is the new version, while more expensive it has some welcomed improvements :)
@ONIProductionsLtd Thanks for the info, I don't think I'm quite ready to step up to a DSLR, or pay more than $400 for a high end point and shoot right now, so I think the sx30is is the perfect medium. If you want to check out some of my work, visit my channel, and you can easily see what kind of camera I'll be needing down the road; inevitably a DSLR :P But for now, the sx30is will do :)
@ayeeitsjulieee Ha it has been called that, if it worked better in low light it'd be even creepier ha (the updated version SX40HS does exactly that) almost too much creepy power for one cam :P

I bought an 8gb card for cheap enough and got a 4gb in an accessory kit (see my vid Accessories On The Cheap), it doesn't shoot high-speed so its not like you'll need an expensive class 10 card, an 8gb class 4 card is perfect, go bigger if you wanna shoot a lot of video though.

It really helped me start learning very well, I definitely recommend it and hope it helps you as much as it did me. I'll miss it for sentimental reasons, and I'll never afford a lens like that for a DSLR haha definitely send me a video of how you like it after you have it for a bit!

I'm selling mine to a friend for $250 so I can upgrade to a T2i or T3i DSLR soon. Maybe you could buy a used one for $200-300, still not cheap but used cameras generally work great and being any cheaper at all can help.
fun vid !!. i noticed you have an eye handicap, a friend of mine has it to its called Nystagmus, a lot of people with albinisme have it to. (just in case you were wondering why your eye's shake sometimes) btw i am thinking of bying the same camera
@marnix0steenbeek Yup I knew about my nystagmus for years. I also have astigmatism in my left eye to add to the fun. The real damage is in the optic nerve though, all of which together makes me legally blind :P one of the biggest inconveniences is my inability to drive, ever. But that's all it is, an inconvenience :) not stopping me from learning photography xD thanks for your comment :) its a good camera, you'll like it. Though I almost want to sell it to afford a DSLR, but this one's great.

@KTJoyProductions Yess :D its $400 so not the most expensive, great video, image stabilization makes it not jittery and actually usable handheld but often best on a tripod, good amount of control, etc. Would def recommend it for YT shorts
@KTJoyProductions np hope you like it, look for cheap extra batteries online, I got one for $5 n it works as good as Canon's $30 ones haha Image Stablization in videos can eat battery so might want a couple
@fochi11 No high ISO is better for low light, if you have good light turn down the ISO and compensate with slower shutter speeds and wider apertures. There's a lot on the internet that'll teach you how to balance these manual controls, but if you don't feel like learning all that and wanna leave it on Auto it should be good enough, but learning is simple enough (thanks largely to the internet) and very rewarding
@fochi11 I'll make it tomorrow so I can demonstrate different lighting situations and whatnot. I'm no pro but I get good pics from my camera and have a fisr understanding of it, yet am noob enough to explain it in layman's terms. Some of the more pro guys get stuck in their technical talk which can make teaching it hard haha I'll do my best to balance understandability and technicality. Unfortunately will have to shoot with my cellphone so I can show the canon on screen.

Do you have an eye that is a bit lazy? It seams like you are looking at two different spots when the camera is facing you, like a chameleon.
