*cough* The Latitude E-Series was only launched last year, that's not an old laptop ;) It does however have a pretty slow hard drive (5400rpm). The final release of Ubuntu 9.10 with ureadahead installed (which is going to land as an update in karmic soon) takes ~44 seconds from grub to a fully loaded desktop, it improved the boot speed quite a bit. But since my hdd sucks, it unfortunately can't work miracles :/
The purpose of the video was to show how xsplash looked in alpha4.
yeah it took a while to boot but on mine it's just wooha loads fast .. maybe the purpose of video just to show linux ubuntu can run on old laptops ?
