  • Hej, what you meant by hyvönninni would be correctly HVÖNN (in the lyrics hvönnini) a flower species (Angelica archangelica).

  • þakkir :)

  • Swedish translation

Icelanders please help me with the word "hyvönninni"?:o)

  • @notblondeswede Oops, 2 "tills"

  • Here is the translation

I arrived in the village, on a summer evening,

    Twellve-o-clock in the midnight sun.

I got a deal on a room, that must be OK,

with a sink, table and chairs.

In the morning I walked, to the streets,

an saw an old machine laying out on the ground,

saw some houses for sale, some that were dying,

and something in the window that glowed.

  • Thats the girl that stares at the sea, works her powerful eyes She stands all night, and stares at the sea Big innocent silence I saw her dancing, with dark green eyes, danced as if I wasnt here She wanted to be, seemed to lock off the world, locked from you and me. who was she, I didnt know. and everyone I asked who was around, the reason was one black winters storm, the ocean took her man away
  • Thats the girl that stares at the sea, works her powerful eyes She stands all night, and stares at the sea Big innocent silence These staring eyes, autumn green as the sea, watched on to the deep one night. They mirrored something that once was understood. Up on the cliffs she stood and stared into the fjord, sometimes creeped the woman inside. It's a type of wind, and wild eyes crindge, with hope that she'd dissapear within.
  • Tack så mycket! Tak!

  • That summer was beautiful, I got enough work, the fishing and weather was good, and I stood and thought, and watched out the window, at the girl that they talked about. One night I awoke, with shivers and clearity of what crawed into my heart. what brightened first, was a curious heart, I found love here with the girl that stares at the sea, works her powerful eyes She stands all night, and stares at the sea Big innocent silence
  • They next day I left with the next car south,

I never looked back, I cursed under my breath.

But in my chest was something that hurt

Of the boat that was lost, and vision came to my thoughts

why she stands, and stares to the sea. Stares to a brighter ??

Thats the girl that stares at the sea,

    works her powerful eyes

She stands all night, and stares at the sea

    Big innocent silence

  • I can't find the lyrics anywhere, can someone kind post them in icelandic and translate them to english or swedish :):)??

  • here you go

  • Are you not Icelandic? There are many errors...

  • Nope. I'm a Kani. I tried my best.

  • Fin sång :):) Gillar "tatueringen"

    /Gleðileg jól frá Svíþjóð

  • people that is from Iceland can still read icelandic that is over 1000 yers old..

and we still younder stand most peopel from most people from sweden denmark feyrijar sweden denmark norwgen and same for them it is called Scandinavian

  • Someone has just told me she is living in New Zealand and that the painting on her face denotes Tattoo or Moko. The indigenous people of New Zealand or Natives ie: Maori wear traditionally Tattoo on their faces... but her design ie: painted on I think... would be contemporary style. awesome video well done ^^

  • @MedusasKimono Im from nz and have met her! its not a native maori design i think she just does it because it looks cool, which it definatly does!! and she seems to wear it everyday!! I think she spreads her time living between New zealand and iceland but not sure shes really cool person though and smiles upside down lol

  • yes I know its not a native maori design... because I am Maori and at the time learning about kowhaiwhai designs years back.... but these days I mean everything is contemporary.... which may represent many things thank you for your feedback lol

  • ýkt gott lag :O

  • Wonderful voice, incredible song, lovely. I respect but i don't really understand the meaning of painting the face, anyway it's original :)

  • ein heilt, heilt, heilt framúr góður sangur, og tað ger tað ikki verri tá tu skilir textin. eg má fara mær at lurta eftir útgávuni hjá Bubba næst.

kvæðjur til íslands frá einum føroynigi.

  • I'v got no idea what she sings about, but the melody and her voice are in a beautiful harmony

    Love the tattoo, too ;)

  • töff stelpa sem syngur rosalega vel

  • Beautiful!!

  • I am in love with her as much as i am wit Iceland!!!

    Eg elska Hera og Island;)

  • Stúlkan sem starir á hafið = ThThe girl who stare at the ocean

  • Can a icelandic person help me with this question, i seemed to hear a part in the when song " she stared over the fjord"? did i hear right. some words i can hear becuase its close to swedish

  • yeah you heard it right

  • swedish is close to icelandic. not the other way around :)

Icelandic = basicly the language spoken in norway at 1200(since then, the norwegians have ruined it) and that goes back to around 700, then swedes and norwegians spoke the same language.

So icelandic is as pure a nordic language as you can get.

Ergo : its Icelandic which is the model. and swedish the mongrel :P

  • Actually the danes ruined it :P

  • lol. you got that right.

  • @Fantoft666Aske God damn danes

  • Icelandic is a beautiful language, as a Swede (and part Dane) I can make out a few words as Hera sings but I did look up the lyrics as well (in Icelandic) and could understand a lot more by just reading through it.

Best regards from a mongrel ;-).

  • Ah, someone with a sense of humor <3

  • Yup, a dying breed but as long as there is humour there is hope. :-)

  • @lolcat23

I sooo do agree with you on that. I just wish my boyfriend could see it that way. He's danish and don't like the icelandic language or Iceland it self.. but still he's toghether with an icelandic girl, doesn't make any sence to me ;)

  • @tjaldsen1988

    redhaired loser perhaps?

  • @lolcat23 Swedish and icelandic is not the same...

  • @Luiginnn And you have a problem with reading i guess, i never said they are the same. Jag både talar och skriver svenska without any problems, so i know perfectly well they are not the same. What you said makes me think you are stupid, får ju för fan läsa vad jag skriver innan du tror att du kan komma med dumma one-liners och tro att du har kommit med någon otrolig uppenbarelse. dumma jävel.

  • @lolcat23 shuss

  • @lolcat23

    what about Faeroese & Danish?

  • @taxi911 What about them? Danish has lost many words(computer!!) but other then that its pretty "clean", ofc the pronounciation is pretty fucked up, but that we knew :P. Faeroese i dont know a lot about, except that it seems to be 50/50 icelandic/danish, but like i said, thats just a guess cause i know almost nothing about faeroese.

  • @taxi911 Faeroese is allmost like icelandic - alltho the closer to thorshavn you go the more danish there is spoken, Danish is similar but it's changing so fast, not the same danish there was even 200 years ago - its changing very fast. Icelandic has been kept similar since the start.

I can kinda understand Faeroese but the closer they live to Thorshavn the more danish they speak, I'm Icelandic and they can understand me aswell.

  • hate 2 say it but she does better than bubbi!!!

  • bubbi sucks. really annoying "artist".

  • Opinions are like ass holes. Everybody has got one.

  • stupid ppl are like grass, they are everywhere.

  • he doesn't suck!! :O what the fock is wrong with u.!! he is one of the most seccsfull artist here!

  • Success =/= proof of quality. Wanna look at McDonalds?

There are a lot of things wrong with me. Luckily, liking Bubbi isnt one of them!

  • please learn english before you write in english

svona ef þú skildir þetta ekki lærðu ensku áður en þú skrifar hana fuck og successful

  • Great song im an icelandic and live in america and this song makes me cry every time and makes me miss home SSSOOO much!! GO ICELAND!!!

  • Yeah, me too. I love this song.

  • this is a very nice version of this great number - love it

  • Wow ! You sing really well ! Wonderful !

  • Hrein snilld!

  • Saw some ppl asked for a translatesion, but that can fit here so ill give you the basic story.

so its about a traveling worker that comes into a old town looking for work ( wich he gets in a fish plant of sorts). but very soon he notices a young girl who just stands there looking through the window at the ocean. all day every day, he starts to wonder what happend soon he finds out that her husband had drowned when his ship was out fishing.

  • was out of space =oP

But this is a very sad song and i wish i could give it proper justice. one of my fav lines goes somthing like

"I saw her dancing, with sad green eyes, dancing like she wasint here, she seem to float around in her privet world closed to you and me"

    well enjoy,

  • þessi lína mig æpe

  • If I could speak Iclandic, I'd love to sing this song.I just don't know if I could sing it without crying. This song brought tears to my eyes even before I understood what the song was about!!!

  • It's about a poor girl that watches the sea every evening, like she lived in her owned world. The song says that the sea took her loved husband. Everybody taught she was crazy but it was only the fact about that her love was gone that made her cry so hard and stare at the sea.

  • Flott lag, ekki er möguleiki á að henda inn Talað Við Gluggan með Heru? Ef ekki er einhver sem getur sagt mér hvar ég get hlustað á það á netinu? :)

  • HOT hera HOT!!!!(Tane):)

  • Awesome performance and a very touchy song in a beautiful and ancient language..

  • icelandic is one of the oldest language that is still a national language of a nation. many germanic language derive from icelandic and it is the oldest of the scandinavian language

  • yup, schoolkids can read medieval Icelandic with ease...

  • no, we can't read it with ease.

we understand it perfectly, but I'm 100%sure that it makes all of us really frustrated reading it.

  • That's true. I got an Icelander friend and she told me tha tshe doesn't likes reading Old Norse because she finds it weird and the sentences confusing. Bless frá Mexio!

  • no it's not im from iceland and there were people in norway sweden denmark that sailed to iceland becouse there was so little land left in their home nation and icelandic was formed slowly over time becouseof isolation

  • i met her when she was here in texas!my fave song is wings!oh and can someone translate please?!

  • elska þetta lag, vitiði hvar ég get fengið gripin fyrir það? :3

  • /care

  • ICELANDIC^^

  • mint! Love the warpaint :)

  • It is Icelandic, I come from there and I love this song!

it's beautiful and sounds like a a great story.

  • Probably Icelandic......ancient Viking language
