Thats the girl that stares at the sea, works her powerful eyes She stands all night, and stares at the sea Big innocent silence I saw her dancing, with dark green eyes, danced as if I wasnt here She wanted to be, seemed to lock off the world, locked from you and me. who was she, I didnt know. and everyone I asked who was around, the reason was one black winters storm, the ocean took her man away
Thats the girl that stares at the sea, works her powerful eyes She stands all night, and stares at the sea Big innocent silence These staring eyes, autumn green as the sea, watched on to the deep one night. They mirrored something that once was understood. Up on the cliffs she stood and stared into the fjord, sometimes creeped the woman inside. It's a type of wind, and wild eyes crindge, with hope that she'd dissapear within.
That summer was beautiful, I got enough work, the fishing and weather was good, and I stood and thought, and watched out the window, at the girl that they talked about. One night I awoke, with shivers and clearity of what crawed into my heart. what brightened first, was a curious heart, I found love here with the girl that stares at the sea, works her powerful eyes She stands all night, and stares at the sea Big innocent silence

If I could speak Iclandic, I'd love to sing this song.I just don't know if I could sing it without crying. This song brought tears to my eyes even before I understood what the song was about!!!
It's about a poor girl that watches the sea every evening, like she lived in her owned world. The song says that the sea took her loved husband. Everybody taught she was crazy but it was only the fact about that her love was gone that made her cry so hard and stare at the sea.
icelandic is one of the oldest language that is still a national language of a nation. many germanic language derive from icelandic and it is the oldest of the scandinavian language
That's true. I got an Icelander friend and she told me tha tshe doesn't likes reading Old Norse because she finds it weird and the sentences confusing. Bless frá Mexio!
no it's not im from iceland and there were people in norway sweden denmark that sailed to iceland becouse there was so little land left in their home nation and icelandic was formed slowly over time becouseof isolation

notblondeswede 2 years ago

Here is the translation
I arrived in the village, on a summer evening,
Twellve-o-clock in the midnight sun.
I got a deal on a room, that must be OK,
with a sink, table and chairs.
In the morning I walked, to the streets,
an saw an old machine laying out on the ground,
saw some houses for sale, some that were dying,
and something in the window that glowed.

I never looked back, I cursed under my breath.
But in my chest was something that hurt
Of the boat that was lost, and vision came to my thoughts
why she stands, and stares to the sea. Stares to a brighter ??
Thats the girl that stares at the sea,
works her powerful eyes
She stands all night, and stares at the sea
Big innocent silence

Why does Iceland continue to kill whales?
-They do it in a pathetic attempt to hold onto the past so that they can continue to identify with their bloody legacy of whaling.
-It is a blood sport to them and a way of indulging in the sadistic pleasure of killing whales and thumbing their noses at other nations.
-Killing whales is the pursuit of little people with small minds with a lust to destroy creatures more intelligent and more beautiful than themselves.

It's about a poor girl that watches the sea every evening, like she lived in her owned world. The song says that the sea took her loved husband. Everybody taught she was crazy but it was only the fact about that her love was gone that made her cry so hard and stare at the sea.

Flott lag, ekki er möguleiki á að henda inn Talað Við Gluggan með Heru? Ef ekki er einhver sem getur sagt mér hvar ég get hlustað á það á netinu? :)

That's true. I got an Icelander friend and she told me tha tshe doesn't likes reading Old Norse because she finds it weird and the sentences confusing. Bless frá Mexio!
