@cdnsee The Red Cross has instituted an irrational and discriminatory ban on gay blood donation. There are extensive reasons why this is unjust. The ban was put into place in the 1980s because it wasn't deemed cost-effective at the time to test the blood. All donations are tested today. Why is the ban still in effect? This is one organization I will not be supporting
@limesalza I agree that this ban doesn't make sense and if you don't feel comfortable with the organization it's best you don't donate to them. Hope you have a great holiday season
@cdnsee I didn't mean to sound so abrasive. I've recently experienced the execution of that ban and while I do think the Red Cross does do many great things, they have a lot to improve on before they get any vote of confidence from me. Ditto on the holiday wishes :)
I run an on-line charity event every year called The Angel Card Project. We get volunteers to send Christmas Cards to those who are sick, lonely, elderly, or who just needs to be reminded that someone out there does care about them. I usually get about 300 to 500 names submitted every year that the volunteers send cards to. And we are very gay friendly considering I'm gay. :o) We never turn away anyone. So if anyone is interested just send me a PM and I will get you the info.
