Its ALL very much up in the air! Even Anne Hathaway isn't completely sure because the director did two takes, one where Anne Hathaway was lying and Jack had actually been beaten to death, and one where she was telling Heath Ledger about Jacks death as an accident. And then the director cut them both together. Just a show of the great directing and the wonderful talents of Anne Hathaway!
