My mother grew them! I think turnips might always have been a regional thing though. Irish and maybe Scottish but not so much Wales, I think. Also, pumpkins are slightly easier to carve!
Either a ghost or using that hat to be a witch. I might go as a vampire actually (or just wear a lovely dress and apply the make-up up there if anyone else is in fancy dress!)

Yes. And Welsh women traditional costume is a hat a bit like these only flat at the top, along with a great big shawl, lace and a big skirt.
