  • this is a song that would sound wonderful in a number of different keys.

  • Beautiful playing. Re-verb and tone is superb. I hope your TAB and CD's are available through CandyRat soon, will definitely purchase them when they do. A question though, what guitar and general recording set-up do you have going there? Thanks a heap and keep making great music.

  • @DRSproductions100 His tabs are available from the Candyrat site and have been for a while, i'd definitely recommend getting them :) I think here he is using a Breedlove guitar, not sure which exact model. He's also a luthier himself so it may in fact be one of his own! Google Ciluzzi guitars!

  • My fave!

    Amazing !!!

  • correct man / nice attitude / emotion

    Bravo

  • Brilliant

  • How great it must feel to play like this.

  • 0:29 oh it's rather a rocker gesture!

  • genious- btw the guitar is in tune--anyone with a good ear can hear it..when he hits the final note or sometimes when he hammers- he fingers overlap the fret a little causing the note to go sharp or a bit flat--its NOT out of tune--..great work Peter!!

    always loved this piece...

  • i know basicly nothing about music theory and all that yet i find myself composing things that sound kindof similar to this (minus the amazingly good part)

  • Acoustically, heavenly sound ...captivating...

  • This song is so underrated! Those who dont know of this song, dont know music

  • @martingrotting You clearly haven't noticed other channels on youtube full of incredibly talented artists have you ;)?

  • @martingrotting Guess Bach Didn't know music then.

  • Cliffs of Dover caught me in the same way some 15 years ago. Now condensed to one shredder on an acoustic. I'd like to hear him jam with a really good drummer but this is great

  • Oh god.. You're pick up is amazing.. Along with you action.. I want I want.

  • one of the chillest songs ever

  • the best sleeper song. Could fall asleep to this given the opportunity. It's like... ohh my god double rainbow.

  • @tyron666 and @Tubember , both of you are right, and both of you are wrong. The most talented guitarists might even want to to out of tune. I think he even does that on purpose on one of his other videos.

That's all I have to say.

  • Wow,

i think that song will be my next project. I get bored by playing such fast songs where you need much skill like McKee and so on. I mean... this is a song to chill while playing and enjoy it and not something like focusing on the fretboard don't to make mistakes.

  • Let's just chill and not follow the path of the petty argument. Very pleasing tune...

  • FANTASTIC

  • How does he play like that? He makes it look like he's just pricking the guitar! First time I've seen this guy, where do all they come from?! I wanna learn this!

  • Love that simple groove!

  • shit! hes great

  • It is always astonishing to see a magnificent fingerstyle guitarist play - I always wonder what creates all those sounds I hear!

  • Beautiful! :) I'm lucking forward to learn this! Thanks for posting all these great videoes!

  • what make guitar is this?? sounds extremely nice indeed.

  • @Mcvity its a brand called breedlove. I played a few different models at guitar center and they are nice to play. And affordable!

  • @djbuzzkiller ahh thanks for the info budy, very nice stuff there.

  • this aproach to playing steel strings , seems to be everywhere , i was only aware of Andy Mckay , first watching him on you tube ,, but now there is many more ,, was Andy the instigator of this style ? , i say this style , not what Tommy emanuel does , this style of percussive drone playing , it is very refreshing , this guy , and alot of others on these links , have a brilliant steel string tone , gorgeous sounding guitars , true acoustic sounds ,,not like the flat ugly tones rock stars use

  • That's a Breedlove right? Anyone know what model?

  • @drummerboy1692 Nope. Peter Ciluzzi hand-makes his own guitars.

  • @MrIbanezExclusive If you check out his website, his stamp is Ciluzzi written out in cursive on the headstock on his guitars. Also, the headstock on this guitar is the same headstock that Breedlove uses on most of their guitars. That and the unique cut-away design. If you pause at 1:46, you can just make out the Breedlove stamp too, but the one on this guitar is slightly different; it has something added to it underneath the heart shaped 'B'.

  • does anyone know the tuning please?

  • @babos80 its in the comments if the vid response above

  • Beautifully played and not to mention soothing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Peter has more swag in his guitar playing than anyone has in the entire world. This is the most fluid guitar playing I've ever seen.

  • Pleasure injected sound poetics. His music is so easy to listen too.

  • this is Peter Ciluzzi's best song in my opinion

  • @abfplano54 Himalaya is better i think ... ;p

  • @meufzeuf3 really, i think that himalaya is okay, but nothing tops this and abyssal

  • Needs more views... My fav Ciluzzi tune.

  • it be awesome if john mayer got on this

  • I love the percussive elements of this; without them i think he piece wouldn't be as amazing

  • Criminally under viewed!

  • What model/series of Breedlove is that?

  • awesome right from the beginning just what i needed to hear.....it woke up my soul a bit

  • that's it I'm fuckin learning this

  • i want a guitar like that!!!how will i know?

  • @byange821 word; but the cutaway looks kinda deep and uncomfortable.

  • i love the little percussion in between the part where he taps somewhere around the 12th fret :D

  • he flicks us off at 0:24

  • amazing

  • Wow the video isn't in sync with the audio at all...........

  • @WSrunna15 It's all sync'd up, his movements are just so fluid you hardly see when he taps for an percussion.

  • still can't get over this song. it's beautiful

  • @steventmiller dude I think you might be crazy. I don't see any sloppiness in any of those parts. I'm pretty sure that Mr. Ciluzzi intended to play those parts the way he did.

  • @steventmiller

it's ok i know that your joking.

  • sounds like a whole band not just one guitar ;)

  • i'd forever stop talking to anyone if i could talk to myself in soliloquies like this.

  • This was incredibly inspiring! wow... so beautiful

  • amazing. man i wish there was a longer version of this song. anybody know song/s like this by ciluzzi? the only candyrat artists i really follow are mckee and dufour

  • @ianisc00lio Try Craig D'andrea - morrison county

  • what guitar is thatr i louuv the sound

  • Its a Breedlove guitar. You can tell by the shape of the guitar.

  • @peesmithy its a Ciluzzi guitar, made by himself

  • @mar000martin Actually this is a Breedlove. Ciluzzi's guitars can be seen on the videos of gospel and lament.

  • without a doubt the best candyrat guy next to Don Ross!!

  • Comment removed

  • I love how his hands are so loose, he adds so much flow to it

  • I know exactly what you mean Trivi. When i play i'm clenching the fret board while keeping my right kind in position. When Antoine and Andy play they are often in their own home position. Peter looks comfortable where ever his hands are and lets them kind of flow with the music. Such a fluid style.

  • Yeah, i know what you mean.

  • song is good it should be longer

  • Beautiful melody! Unforgettable! Thanks for sharing it with the world. :)

  • :28 - :30 he definitely gives us the finger

  • @Joet80t lol

  • Peter seems so gracious when he plays. His guitars seem to be an extension of his own arms and hands. Just incredible writing and imagination. Thanks

  • Gracious is the perfect word.

  • always the same comments about the tunning... "I think the low B is out"... don't you have better things to say? do you really think a such tallented artist can be out f tune?

I guess you think you are interestin by saying that and maybe you want to prouve you also play guitar... please, show us?!!

  • @tyron666 Or maybe people just want to point out that music is also about technicalities, not just feelings. You may have a good tune but thats certainly gonna suck if you dont know the difference between B and B flat.

  • @tyron666 I agree. I play guitar quite avidly, and in a composition of my own, I tune the low B just a little sharp. Most of the time if a string is "out of tune", some of these people don't realize it's entirely purposeful.

  • @tyron666 They're probably saying that because, if you watch closely, sometimes when he plays the low B he bends it up

  • @tyron666 Even a talented guitarist can be out of tune, but a talented guitarist can also play so well & with so much feeling that you don't really notice it much even if he is out of tune slightly. Sounds fine to me!

  • @tyron666 The guitar as with all wood instruments is always out of tune and never truly "perfectly" tuned. The way the frets are aligned traditionally on a guitar doesn't allow for precise intonation. I find also when artists use more minor scales and chords in their music people don't think they sound as in tune. If I am correct the hertz of the separate strings in a minor chord will will not harmonize as much as they would in a major chord.

  • @tyron666 I haven't mentioned anything about tunings before on this video, but just because someone is well renowned, and versed in playing, doesn't mean that their instrument can't go out of tune. Tunings aren't skill-related. Naturally, they'll always tune up beforehand so the public doesn't have to sit through it, as well as use the best take they can get out of all the ones they have recorded. Depending on how much money they have, they may also hire people to tune their guitar for them.

  • @tyron666 All that reasoning aside... detuning that low changes the string's intonation. To play low B in tune he would need a longer scale neck and higher gauge string, like a baritone or fanfret guitar. That's the practical end.

  • I may have missed this in earlier responses... but what type of guitar is Peter playing?

  • this is a Breedlove guitar

  • no the guitar is one of ciluzzi's custom built ones. He builds guitars and sells them

  • His hand built guitar is the one from his other videos like Abyssal. This is from the DVD where he uses this guitar, a breedlove. Search breedlove guitars and find similar looking ones to this

  • It is a Breedlove!

  • i don't know why you got marked down.. cause it's true

  • what tuning is this?

  • from low to high BG#EF#BE

  • Peter Ciluzzi is so underrated. He's one of the most creative artists on Candyrat's label.

  • exactly, he's really gentle and introvert in an incredibly awesome way

  • no manches todo un maestro!!!!

  • man i want a breedlove like that....but i love mine though

  • Exquisite and profound eloquence and execution. .

  • i heart my breedlove too

  • I think i like this more than Rylynn.

  • brody, you obsess over these guys to much

  • It's got more of a.. softer tune than Rylynn, that's for sure. Both are awesome.

  • mhm, well that's some comparison!

  • beautiful piece

  • Breedlove guitar!♥ love them

  • you have nice nails.

  • Love his music. It sounds so unusual but completely comes together in every part. Amazing control over the sound and fingers.

  • First : Great Song and you have the full controll of you guitar. But I don't think it's that difficult to play as it looks like.

  • Might not be as hard as it looks to play, I agree, but I bet it was hard to write. The intonations and progressions are intricate to say the least. Besides it gives him room to improvise the technique in which he plays without having to change the song.

  • i liked how he flicked us off multiple times.

"fuck you guys, i'm really good at guitar"

  • Comment removed

  • so low key but awesome... I wish I had that control..

  • This needs to be longer. The satisfaction is too fleeting.

  • @TheLovebird I think the length of the song is meant for that; much more and it'd be over-done, any less and it'd not be satisfying enough. He nailed it on the head.

  • @TheLovebird

that's kind of what I like best about Peter Ciluzzi. He never overstates or repeats things too much. When the song is over, I always want to hear another song right away.

He's also much more subtle than a lot of the solo acoustic guys out there that are just doing tricks that VISUALLY look impressive. Peter's writing is incredible.

  • @SLoMo4 i agree...:)

  • THX!!!

  • tuning please!!!!!!!!

  • i know he makes his own guitars. but thats not one of his is it? doesnt look like it.

  • naw that'd be a breedlove. Very nice guitars, the founder, Kim Breedlove actually started out working for Taylor Guitars.

  • thanks. now that youve mentioned it, i do recognize that headstock. beautiful guitars. i lived in ireland for a while right down the road for the lowden guitar factory. dont know if youve ever heard of those but they are amazing guitars.

  • Dude, your a lucky man. Guitars to me (especially acoustics) are like candy to me. I'd be visiting that place religiously. I hear nothing but good things about them, however I thought they were now Avalon guitars?

  • oh i agree. i love acoustic guitars. well from the way i hear it from those in ireland, is that george lowden and the main avalon guys started out together making lowden guitars. and then somehow george was getting the short end of the deal. so he left under the condition that he kept his name. and they kept the design and strut pattern of the guitar and changed the name. so he has his own shop in downpatrick. he and selected few other guys only makes about 200-300 guitars a year. if that.

  • Can't believe this guy is a luthier as well; not only does he play fantastic guitar, he builds them too! Inspiring and a little bit sickening (most of us will probably admit)

  • we all need to give fingerstyle guitarists more credit. go peter! your guitars sound beautiful.

  • Wow, his playing style is so fluid... That was amazing, and a wonderful song.

  • how hasnt this guy got a million views! awesome

  • how is this done?

  • magic, or godly powers :)

  • some people after years of practice start to see the guitar as both a piano and bong drums, it really is special.

  • Very impressive. This whole generation of guitarists are redefining what is possible with a guitar. My brain is spinning to understand these techniques. Keep it up.

  • cool.

  • masterpiece

  • He's looks like a long haired Messi..

    By the way, great song...:P

  • oh my.....the last cord was broken :))) doesn-t matter, he-s great !

  • Comment removed

  • Is this guitar made by him? I don't think

  • It's a Breedlove Pro

  • damn here you would even hear the lowest fart XD

  • like i;ve said before, who needs lyrics when you can play this beautiful?

  • Not only a great musician but a great guy, I've emailed him twice with questions on building guitars, and both times he has replied and answered questions with extreme kindness. Great music, Great musician.

  • one would expect someone that creates beautiful music such as this to be a beautiful person

  • lol wtf?

  • lolz

  • 0:38

  • no man 0:56

  • I think the best part is from 0:00 to 2:40

    :-)

  • @janlucsof *slaps*

  • hahaha i like the title of the song soliloquy thats when a character speaks to themselve in a book outloud this song for sme reason i feel that

  • This song really speaks to me. The simple little melody at the beginning is just so happy and relaxing, but then he goes off away from the tune to more complex things. Eventually though, it just gets too complex, and he loses himself in the details...but then he remembers the simple, fun melody and returns to it, time and again.

Sometimes the simple things are the most beautiful. =)

  • Sorry to everyone else who has to see myself and Porpoisefathom arguing, fantastic song btw.

  • The way Ciluzzi plays this song makes me think of some overrated pop artist playing something they probably didn't even write and then Ciluzzi whips out his guitar in an "as a matter of fact" fasion and plays this!

  • I think you missed the point of my comment dude. I wasn't dissing Ciluzzi, I was stating my disappointment with mainstream music. Sorry if you are an overrated pop artist and were offended.

  • well if you read my original post and understood it I think the answer to your question would become very obvious. If you were a 12 or 13 year old little kid I wouldn't mind your ignorance, but seeing as how your 40+ and post videos of yourself talking about who knows what it's kind of annoying. So don't expect me to respond to anymore of your pointless comments.

  • What kind of microphones are they? Anybody know?

  • where did you get the tab?

  • i hear you ..sorry id have to take justa guess on it..sounds lke dadgad or maybe even f or f# open tuning...wish i knew- id learn it too but you canj just sit with it and look at where he is fretting ,match the pitch on the recording and youll find the tuning

  • BG#EF#BE

  • i am definetly learning this song!!!! its so beautiful!!!!

  • You see that is possible to use some kind of creative percussion on the guitar body without making them the only thing thing!! Great work Ciluzzi, I like your playing extremely much!! I can't stand no more all that percussing everywhere without any gusto!! Grande Peter! Great piece! You put the passion, and the melody, not only the fucking percussions!!

    Ciao!

  • Nice little move around 1:46.

Peter Ciluzzi is pretty sweet, and this is coming from someone who isn't a big Candyrat groupy. Lots of class and nice grooves, even if it's not as busy as some of his contemporaries.

  • If I could have a theme tune...

  • what a beautiful breedlove. great song as well.

  • one of my absolute favs

  • Something in his music hits the soul!

  • I personally am partial to Dufour, but Ciluzzi really impresses me. His music is truly... muscial. Judging by the way this song, Abyssal, and Northern are put together, its clear that his knowledge of music is quite superior. He REALLY knows what he's doing. Not only that but he studied at Berklee (great school, bro graduated from there) and New England Conservatory (a place were i wish to go). He has me completely.

    Play on.

    Thomas A William

  • every time i listen to this song i think about what's really important about and what i truly love. thank you
