I had not thought that you will fill up bass with... a bass lol. You sound great with both. I liked the CAE sound personally but I know what you are saying. Looking for a preamp, thought this CAE thing was the best there was now someone who is clearly experienced says no hehe.
I have a caa 3+se and a bunch of soldano stuff.......I dig the soldano stuff a bit more, but I like the 3+ too.........The soldano amps that have the depth (resonance) installed are a good middle ground between the two sounds............
I have a modded SP-77 and a triaxis. The tri has a little more gain, but the Soldano has the tone. It seems like my soldano gets thicker with a distorted tube power amp, and my tri just gets dirtier or sloppier sounding. The tri doesn't sound as solid as the soldano...I have a little peavey classic 60 that oozes tone out of it (probably the lower wattage), but usually use a mesa 2:90 live with a few effects (tone robbing deep extend off). Anybody compared these power amps with VHT's?
wow! both amps sound awsome! in this category it´s not about better, it´s just different! i think the CAA sounds a bit more modern, while the soldano has this classic heavy-rock-sound! i love my soldano as well. what i like is (for example) that you can hear the single notes of a "cord" =>see1:15/1:25 :-)! by the way: perfect picking! if it SOUNDS GOOD with a soldano you can definitly play guitar!
So cool :-D ...I found a "brother" on You Tube. I also Use a Soldano Pre and a VHT Poweramp. excellent picking. And I thought, I'm the only "Dinosaur" on YT. greez from germany
Yes that is a good description! To me the OD100 has more pronounced lower mids while Soldano has it's focus on the higher mids. When heard by them selves the OD sounds much fatter but in a band context it kind of dissapears. My bassplayer complained that I was stealing his frequences. And that was when having the bassknob on 9 o clock! So I went back to soldano and have been happy ever since.
Thats what a mix engineer is for or a simple mixing board. If your masking him you make a simple cut somewhere on the eq that doesnt kill your tone and he makes a simple boost--its as simple as that. Bass players have no say anyway haha
also comparisons only make sense in the context of the mic and cab. Which sounds better depends on which voicing is better suited for the rig
The OD100 has a fuller sound with a wider bottom end. I hear the Soldano as having a peakier midrange and treble. The Soldano is good obviously but very Marshally and somewhat thin compared to the OD 100
now I'd like to hear an x88 vs slo

Played an SL1, meh, did not enjoy the low-end & don't want a to rely on a pedal for anything. Getting an OD100.

I definately prefer my Soldano. It's more fluid, more open and has something sweet in its mids which makes it sound great in a bandmix.
CAE had greater punch, more low end but sounded way stiffer and didn't sit as good in the mix.
I'm not sure these qualities comes through in this clip though.

I totally agree! The soldano sounds more pure and clean in its sound...
