  • This is beautiful!

  • great song.

  • look up Atrofaes song Soul of the Black Forest, I posted it, no one else had.

  • Nice just discovered these guys and i'm already digging it! Yet another innovative band to come out of Ukraine.

  • Awesome Song!

The acoustic intro sounds a bit like Metallica's "Call of Ktulu".

  • simplicity never fails, this song is a gift in itself..

  • Ukrainia is the best BM scene.

  • can definately feel the similarity with drudkh =D

  • great song!

  • \m/

  • Great band! I love their "Those Whose Past is Immortal" album

  • mmmm!!!another nice ukrainian group!

  • blissful !

  • instrumetal metal songs kick ass

  • Band is not defunct. And it's thurios in this band, not roman sayenko.

  • 5 stars.

  • beautiful

  • Ukranian Pagan BM Is Great

  • Good. Very good. These dudes really love making their music. It makes me ashamed of lazy attitude towards my surroundings and nationality.

  • The best answer for drudkh

  • I meant Astrofaes is better.

  • Wow, this song does sound like Ulver's Bergtatt in ways, but I think it's a little better in my opinon! I can definately see the influence Ulver had on Astrofaes! :D

  • you mean hail volos? D:

  • I never get tired of this song....AMAZING!

  • Actually, Astrofaes is not defunct, and Roman was never in this band.Amorth, who was also drummer for Drudkh, plays drums in this band.

    Great song none the less!

Ukrainian Black Metal is VERY strong!

  • Yes, it seems you are correct on both comments, although they must've reestablished themselves, as "Idea. Form. Essence . . . " was supposed to be the final album. Apparently, they released an EP in January of this year entitled "Shu Nun", of which I had no clue had been released. This has piqued my interest and I will forthwith be searching for an outlet to purchase this album.

As far as Roman is concerned, I'm not sure why I thought he was in this band, simple mistake on my part. Thanks!

  • Yeah it wasn't a big deal to me, you know just a friendly correction.Awesome upload man, great track by Astrofaes!

I actually didn't know that "Idea. Form. Essence" was to be their last LP...interesting....

  • Slava Astrofaes!

    Slava Ukraina!

Slava Ulver! (Older, I'm not into thier later styles)

  • This is great stuff. Thanks for posting it

  • this is beauuuutiiiifullll omg

each time im listening to some drudkh my mind goes away ... its the the same thing with Astrofaes theree ISANE

  • Yeah, I'm a big fan of Thurios, he has that feel of the forest in many of his works. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • A big Ulver influence on this song, wouldn't you say?

I love both Drudkh and Hate Forest.

  • Yeah, the riff, or better yet, the sound of the distorted guitar is uncannily familiar to the same used on the "Bergtatt" album.. but then again, their first four albums undoubtedly were precursors to modern Black Metal.

Yes, Thurios and Roman Saenko are two highly favored musicians by me.

  • I am very grateful to Drudkh for satisfying my cravings for music that sounds like Ulver. Why, oh why, did Ulver have to abandon that brilliant atmospheric Black Metal sound?

  • Yes, I too can agree with your sentiments. Drudkh has a satisfying natural pagan sound that really fits that Folk Metal mold. In an interview with a Norwegian Electronica Zine I believe Garm stated something to the extent of "wanting to create a sound that is beyond genre". That's aspiring for alot, considering Bergtatt and Nattens Madrigal had already become classics in the Black Metal arena. I guess, if anything, I can respect their temerity for attempting a new permutation of their music.

  • Some of the Ulver electronic stuff is great.

But I love the early folk and Black Metal stuff that Ulver did so much that I cannot forgive the band for changing style.

To make things worse, Bergtatt is such a short album! It is like having a wonderful feast set before one and then having it snatched away after having tasted a mouthful.

  • I hear ya'. Their new style is definitely eclectic and is a real aural experience. Some of it I enjoy, some is a little to off the beaten path for my pallet, but I don't consider "bad".

Bergtatt is an amazing album, and unfortunately it's so short, but that is my favorite Ulver album. It encompasses so many feelings at so many points in the Chapters that you really had to respect what they pulled off at such a young age.

  • Yes.

Though I always enjoy listening to Madrigal. It is such a delightfully hateful album.

  • @Infinitesimalism that album is easily my favorite black metal album of all time, i just could not believe how incredibly detailed and well done it was. it's a shame that more black metal isn't written that way
