I followed the instructions, made a backup of the disk folder and set the installation destination to the Generations root folder, and the installation said it was successful, but when I open up the game, it crashes immediately. I even tried running as administrator. I have a cracked version of the game, so could that be the problem?

When i try playing speed highway, I get to the part with the rocket and classic sonic won't grab it no matter what. The rocket pushes him out of the way. Also in rooftop run, there is a platform in the first 2-D section that classic sonic cannot jump over without some momentum. These may be my problems only, but I still love the mod! Very nice job!

When you beat the game 100%, you unlock the Homing Attack for Classic Sonic.

@SonicSuperDash You were supposed to select the folder where the exe is, not the disk folder. :V Hope you made a backup. And check the console window while it's installing for any errors, "it crashes" isn't something I can debug.

I'm not saying you can't think Generations/Colours modern style gameplay is equal to the classics, but every 3d game before it? Just no.

If Sega continue with the way Generations modern plays I'll be happy, even though I think the momentum style gameplay of the classics is the best, I'll still consider the 3d games basically equal, if they keep the modern gameplay the way it is in Generations, even with boosting there's lots of 3d platforming and branching paths.

The classic gameplay on the genesis was better than anything sega produced since, the modern gameplay of generations is the only thing that can stand next to classic, people like me who say this grew with sonic when the first game came out and everything after, we know more about sonic and what he is than you.

Sonic is and always will be best when the gameplay is about physics/momentum platforming, building up speed for loops/corkscrews.

@echo5017 root folder is called the directory from where it's executed. In this case, where the .exe is, there's the root folder. :P (there should be a /disk folder on it as well)

@Weegee9003 It didn't install right then. Replace your /disk folder with a backup you did previously, and try again. (The files in there should ammount to a total of 6GB or so) While it's installing, watch at the console window and tell me if you see anything weird. You should also make sure to have at least like 10 GBs free or so for the installer to unpack and repack freely.

Oh, by the way, this Classic Sonic is modded, he uses the same physics values as Modern, making him a character swap without the fun bits of Modern's gameplay.

I think everyone here appreciates samothethief's work including myself, but don't be delusional, Classic does not make these levels better.

@dustarma Very defensive, I see. I was mostly joking because of that immature comment from the other user, but it is true that I think this is better. First, the move set that modern has only makes the process of speeding through these automated hallways even easier. So, by taking away homing attack and the boost it provides a greater platforming challenge, which I find important for Sonic. Second, I do think that Classic looks nicer than modern, but that has little to do with this.

@Justinedx People who want Sonic to be identical to the Genisis games are delusional, I'll give you that. But Boosting does not a good game make.

It takes away all the challenge of enemies and makes the game an input memorization fest instead of a high-speed platformer.

Now if they brought back the Spindash as it was in the Adventure games, speedy, physically invincible, but harder to control, and ditched the boost in favor of more natural acceleration methods, I'd be much happier with M Sonic.

@CBN0 I'll respect your opinion about boosting, but the Spindash, as it was in the Adventure games, is not the answer.

Adventure 1 had a Spamdash that was outright worse than Classic's in this game and far easier to control, I'd even go as far as to say it was even more overpowered than Boosting in Generations.

SA2's fix was just the summersault which made it worse by accidentally using it when trying to spindash, it still was much easier to control and had unlimited uses.

TIP: If you wanna keep your speed as classic, don't spam homing attack and you'll see results. :)
