Someone on You Tube has posted the original version Brenda did for Del Fi Records; it's not really a video, just the song with a picture of her. Look it up - It's out of print and superior to the Motown recording, her voice really comes out without the strings in this one. The Small Faces version is great too.
Steve Marriot singing the Small Faces version is for me the definitive version. Every little hurt counts....and you can feel each of them. Spencer Davis version not bad either.

The original, recorded by Motown's Brenda Holloway in 1964, is just as awesome. Alicia Keyes did a superb remake. I haven't heard Fiona Robinson's version though.
Knowing that Brenda Holloway wrote the lyrics, it was also released to Gladys & the Pips to sing as well as Teena Marie. A lot of other artists tried for the song like ~ The Clash, Vivian Green, Aretha Franklin, Fiona (Robinson), and Alicia Keys. But, I never heard the Brenda version. The only Motown that I am sure of is Gladys & the Pips. Thanks for the heads up though ;P I'll be sure to search for the Brenda version.
When I first heard it, I had to do a double take because Alicia's voice sounds SO much like Holloway's. If you ever get a chance to find it and download it, take a listen to it :)
