  • You are impesive. Where did you learn all of this? I also wanted to ask on this video, did you add water to the cook pot or was it just water boiled out of the bamboo?

  • @Mosbartie I learned it from books, online and lots of time spent in the bush and yes i had to add water.

  • Are you going to be uploading any newer videos?

  • @TheNukaColaQuantum Yes my friend just as soon as i have the time to film them.

    Thanks, Reggie

  • @TheGods1marine I had heard that you needed to change the water on bamboo at least two times when cooking it or it would cause a lot of gastric discomfort. I saw an interview of a man who had been a prisoner in a Japanese prison camp in WWII and the Japanese cooked it without changing the water and fed it to the prisoners just so they could watch the prisoners writhing on the ground in pain. Did you change the water, or just cook it in the original water and eat it that way?

    ,Reggie

  • How long did you boil the bamboo shoots to remove the cyanide content? I was told 204 Fahrenheit or 98C for 20 mins removed around 70% of the cyanide and 2 hrs would completely detoxify the shoots.

  • @DemonDIam78 I did not know bamboo had cyanide when i filmed this video so i only boiled it for about 10 minuets.

    Thank you my, Reggie

  • @TheGods1marine you forgot to say friend, u said "thank you my"

  • @DemonDIam78 bamboo comes in different species and only some of the species contain cyanide

  • Your approach to things is so much practical than those of the so-called "gurus". Best regards, Claudio Trajtemberg.

  • will the fire burn the bamboo ?

  • @51seer100 If done correctly no my friend it will not

    Thanks, Reggie

  • Reggie, I love your videos but DON'T eat baby bamboo. Cyanide levels are quite high in them. Put simply they are very poisonous. Google scholar search "bamboo cyanide" a good article will be 3 spots down.

  • @fewthe3rd Not totally correct, the giant bamboo (Cathariostachys madagascariensis) contains some cyanide, however this can be removed through boiling and straining. Most species of bamboo are safe to eat and can be a great source of nutrients and some protein. Bamboo is a major staple in almost ALL asian cooking and is actually very tasty, so eat up boys and girls.

  • @fewthe3rd Thank you my friend i will look into it, Reggie

  • Just a week ago my friend told me scout camping stories from her Pacific island home. Bamboo to eat, cook in, drink and eat with. I'd never heard of this. And here you are doing it! Kool!

Something she said about their homemade bamboo cookware: They soaked it in water until saturated to cook to reduce and/or eliminate burning the bamboo cookware. They had the ocean and streams of course, but if you ever tried this with a stream available it might be worth your time to try.

    Great video.

  • @zombiepreparation1 That's a great idea my friend Thank you

    ,Reggie

  • that looks like potatos... what did it taste like?

    Reggie

  • great video

  • @Super47max Thank you my friend, Reggie

  • most of the asian used to eat like that back in Loas and thailand. we will let the bamboo cook on the fire then peel off the cover and eat the inside.

  • @Super47max Thats pretty cool my friend Thank you .

    Reggie
