hey do you have some tips on dialing in the lengths of the slings on handled ascenders? i think my foot loop is too long. when i step in it with my foot on the ground it goes up to my face. is this too high?
When I raise my foot ascender with my footstraps on my feet, the top of the ascender comes to just below my chin. That works for a RADS or frog sit-stand. At least that'd be a good starting point. I think you'll arrive at a balance of stoke length and the chest ascender bumping into the foot ascender.
If that wasn't what you were looking for, let me know.
Awww shoot! I just realized you were talking about the frog walker - I was thinking frog sit-stand in my previous reply.
But, since the Tree Frog, just adds a Pantin to the Frog sit-stand to make it a walker, the lengths for the foot loops should be pretty close to the same.
If you are actually using the Uni, the length might be a bit different. If that doesn't help, get back to me.
@Tanglerwr yeah thats what im doing. i dont have a croll so im using a hitch on the center sliding D on the bridge. . i had the length adjusted so when i stand on the ground with my foot in the loop, it brought the ascender to my face. it felt way to long so i adjusted it to high chest level. i am really excited to finally use a tree frog walker system.
i appologise for my comments made on your videos in the past. i was new to SRT and dumb. i have been climbing SRT for less then half a year and am never going back. i had my doubts about it but after using it, you really appreciate it.
@Tanglerwr well, i tried the rads/yoyo, tree frog and rope walker. i have settled on the simple tree frog. im running a CMI ascender with footloop teathered to my saddle, hitch and hitchclimber in the center D and finaly a pantin. both the pantin and handled ascender are right handed with the foot loop on the left.
i found the rope walker to have too much weight and the yoyo rads too tiring for longer ascendents.
Pretty much the same route I've travelled. I don't much like the rope walkers because having all my weight on one knee at a time causes some minor problems for my left knee which would probably grow worse.
I've been using a frog sit-stand. It's the most symetrical climbing system I've tried. Probably not quite as efficient as a walker, but it's close.
I find my arms fatigue supporting my upper body in a tree frog. Not everyone experiences that, but it's not uncommon either.
