Danzig went onto form Samhain which was a more advanced musically and thematically than Misfits. That's how much he cared about his music,- he wanted better musicians than Jerry and Doyle.
I think Danzig just wanted to get the fuck away from Jerry.
Musically speaking, both Only and Doyle are quite competent, I feel. They've pioneered a playing style that can be felt in music, to this day. I'd go as far to say grindcore, thrash, and a lot of death metal owe quite a bit to those two.
Plus did you ever consider that Danzig wrote the vast majority of the riffs and music that Doyle and Jerry were playing? It is his style that can be felt in metal today.
The brothers only actually learned how to play their instruments properly after the Misfits split in 1983.

Which we know to be true (not letting the 'Fits die, the stint in wrestling, et cetera...) The only thing that tops that would be Glenn's being a pretty big dick, himself. The only way we can get Michael to start gettin up and going out to more places, and gettin new material, is support him. Burn a CD and hand it out to your friends or something, Purchase his merchandise through his website, etc. Hes still fairly unknown. After i had my mom listen to Illusions she loves him. Being a fiend myself, back in the mid-90s, when I heard that Jerry was putting together the Misfits with a new singer and drummer... I was kinda skeptical myself... but as I grew older I was listening to different bands and my ears were growing on me... Graves has an amazing songwriting talent... if you picked up "Punk Rock Is Dead" or "Return to Earth" you would know this...

by the looks of it. It is seeming that we have all come to agree that both graves and danzig are amazing singers. We gotta stop the arguing, anyone who hates gravves, hates the misfits. Or if they hate what they have become now, deal with it, life sucks. Lets just make the best of it :) :) !

Being a fiend myself, back in the mid-90s, when I heard that Jerry was putting together the Misfits with a new singer and drummer... I was kinda skeptical myself... but as I grew older I was listening to different bands and my ears were growing on me... Graves has an amazing songwriting talent... if you picked up "Punk Rock Is Dead" or "Return to Earth" you would know this...

Ahhh Graves. Great singer. No doubt, he was good with the Misfits and on his own, but I still hold Danzig on a higher pedestal. Graves would still be doing the underground bit if Danzig hadnt left the Misfits

Please learn to construct a full sentence without having to tap that enter button after every word! In all fairness, Michale Graves Is the better singer, Danzig has a fantastic voice aswell. The two era's are great, Danzig's era Is amazing and so Is Graves but you can't really compare the two! Too me, they sound like two different band's but hey, I love them both.

I don't care which misfits album i listen to, i love them, all their vocalists sound brilliant, yes, even jerry only :O! Graves has a voice that sucks you into the music, I find his voice soothing as well and he performs with such feeling and emotion no matter what the song is, from Saturday night to forbidden zone he puts on a show. I speak of him now without mentioning his solo career, which in its own right is brilliant. Keep going Graves you're awesome.
