Shaking hands are not really a problem here. They even add some drama to overall impression. I'm a big fan of Norway and my heart is happy to see someone working stuff as this. Many warm regards from Serbia! God Påske!
@zhiopm You are so true in your description of this piece. It's one of the best pieces of music ever written in the history of mankind. Did you just comment on the music or you agree with me too that Spanos's version is the best?
But I like Julia Hamari's performance more, maybe because I know this piece from the beginning by her. But I prefer of a man vocal sings this. Woman can never reach that high in soul, but they can sing nice ;-)
@zhiopm Agreed. Women can sing nice. And Hamari sings it very beatiful. But I still prefer countertenors singing Erbarme dich. It just sounds heavenly.
With this music I can only close my eyes and stay aware of the fact that I'm breathing; a tear rolls down, time & space dissolve... no picture or video can capture the experience. Still I thank you for posting, for it made me listen once again :-)
Thanks Nesciio for your nice description. It is indeed a music of loosing existence. After I made this video, I sat on a chair by the lake and listened to the music continuously for a long time, I fell in trance and didn't notice the flood. My legs and the camera were in cold water!
Thank you...and thanks for your thank you as it brought me back here! I like contemporary music also but for that "deep" feeling I default to Bach;I have liked "classical" music from an early age and even as a teenager I used to listen to a lot-but we also listened to much that was contemporary- then in the 60s. Now I have three Bach CDs always on my player (but I also"dip into" say Schnitte, Charles Ives, Varese or whoever: but Bach for background or when I want music!
J.S. BACH... el mayor músico de todos los tiempos... quien acaso no encuentra esta obra hermosa o no puede conmoverse con su grandeza... la puedo oir 100000 veces y siempre me conmueve enormemente...
Is this Julia Hamari singing? The voice is very similar to another version posted here on YouTube with her. Whoever is singing, this is very beautiful.
J.S.Bach - St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244), Aria 'Erbarme dich...' Original text : Erbarme dich, mein Gott, Um meiner Zähren Willen ! Shaue hier, Herz und Auge Weint vor dir bitterlich. Erbarme dich, mein Gott ! An English translation: Have mercy, my God, For the sake of my tears ! See here, heart an eye Weep bitterly before you. Have mercy, my God !
But who are the performers on the CD? I love how they are expressing the music and text.I will be playing the violin part for Good Friday with a singer friend.
Congratulations zhiopm!Bravo!great idea to make this video and to put from behind playing this song!I have seen also the other Summoning videos you have posted!Great, they are great!
Hi epic man! When are Summoning going to release their new album? What is going on with this epic band??Probably their new ideas are so epic that they need an aeon to finish the composing!!!
There hasn't been more talented director than Andrei Tarkovsky. Each of his works is a masterpiece - unique, touching soul [literally says "hurting the soul"], and this [caused] pain is for the sake of sinners. It is realization of God's ideas not for the sake of righteous, but for the sake of sinners.

Nice video. You did what Tarkovsky did: invite us to experience nature in a deep way as the ground and root of human experience. Thanks.

Nice. Great aria. Great Bach. The best version I've ever heard is Nicholas Spanos's. That is just otherworldly.

I don't mean that contemporary music can be "deep"... in some ways though I feel Bach is contemporary. Universal, forever as anything can be...

Andrei said we weren't placed here to be "happy," but for good and evil to battle within us. That is the true purpose of our lives.

That is the only purpose of this sphere of material existence.
