  • I agree. Bad acting. Bad singing. Not worthy of a European opera production.

  • I remember very well seeing this production in Baltimore. Oh my gosh it was soooo beautiful. It's a shame the video doesn't pick up the brilliance of all the red silk, which covered the entire stage from top to bottom.

  • great!!!!!! brava petra!!!

  • Brava Petra!

  • I don't like this guy at all. No wonder I've never heard of him. He needs to find his own identity and stop imitating good singers.

  • Sorry - I feel that German singers' voices are too harsh - if harsh is the adjuctive that best suit them. I,for one, love Beniamino Gigli's Italian Wintersturme (Cede il Verno) Gigli's interpretation won me over to Der Ring.

  • Yes where there's the problem isn't it? If we were all allowed to sing Wagner in Italian and only "one aria" (as with the case with Gigli, Delmonico) then it ALL would sound different! Reality however, is different. (Gigli, by the way, sounded quite "harsh" towards the end of his career!)

  • who is delmonico`??? LOL

  • Awesome voice. I heard it was difficult for a tenor to sing the part of Tannhauser. Is it true?

I will be seeing Tannhauser in February in San Diego.

  • Great voice indeed. I haven't sung the role complete (yet), but I've performed this same scene in public and have tried the Rom Erzalung & other fragments. What I can tell your from that limited experience is: I guess that, provided you have the voice for the part (meaning that it "carries" over the orchestra), what's probably the tough part is simply to have enough stamina to get to the end of the opera!

  • NOW it is...thanks!

  • it would be nice to post the name of the woman singing Venus she is great!!!

  • It's in the video description and in the tags. More than that cannot be done!

  • I'm working on this now, and the tessitura is tough, as it is throughout Tannhauser.Bravo to Louis Gentile for a very musical and well sung 'dir tone lob'

  • Buena potencia vocal... si afinase algo más sería un Tannhäuser increible.
