All of the guys in Opeth have left for personal reasons. Would you want someone who wasn't into the music to be in a band you liked? People like YOU screwed metal.
Nobody got kicked out, Lopez left because of health issues, Peter left because he felt he couldn't propperly dedicate himself any longer, and when Per Wiberg left it was a mutual decision on his part and the bands.

@countrykitchenbb I wish that little fly that was buzzing around my nuts below in the comments would understand that. I don't think Axe "sucks" so to speak, it's just that Lopez is more talented overall and his influence was a huge part of the Opeth sound. Every time you hear Axe trying to do Lopez' fills from anything on Damnnation or Deliverance it just doesn't sound or feel right. That's when you know there's a void, props to you for actually having a musical ear.
@donangry unfortunately lots of people mistaken speed for talent (and think that the louder they shout the righter they are). Axe has got plenty speed, but when it comes to Lopez's counter beats and alternate tempos, he just can't keep up...same as Akersson just doesn't have the same feeling Peter had on stage, you could tell he and mikael had been playing for ages together

i think mikael is waaaaaaaaaaaay better as a vocalist than a guitar player. not saying hes a bad guitar player, just saying hes got amazing vocals. hes an ok guitar player i guess

@countrykitchenbb I wish that little fly that was buzzing around my nuts below in the comments would understand that. I don't think Axe "sucks" so to speak, it's just that Lopez is more talented overall and his influence was a huge part of the Opeth sound. Every time you hear Axe trying to do Lopez' fills from anything on Damnnation or Deliverance it just doesn't sound or feel right. That's when you know there's a void, props to you for actually having a musical ear.

@donangry unfortunately lots of people mistaken speed for talent (and think that the louder they shout the righter they are). Axe has got plenty speed, but when it comes to Lopez's counter beats and alternate tempos, he just can't keep up...same as Akersson just doesn't have the same feeling Peter had on stage, you could tell he and mikael had been playing for ages together
