  • My 1999 grand am gt sounds the same.

  • probably didnt get to the intakes in time and the antifreeze washed out the berings and made them loose, henc they spun those are the cars i like to buy and swap the motors in :)

  • @Needmorehorsepower

that's exactly what happend. bought it from the guy for $500 (little over scrap at the time) and bought a $400 engine from a 2005 impala with 65,000 miles.

    not bad for $900

need to make a vid of the old engine disassembled when it's warmer out

  • @01GPGT excellent!!! so did you flip it or did you keep it? theres always more arounf the corner sell it and take all the money and go buy 2 cars and fix them and then buy 4 cars and fix them then take 1/2 the cash and go have some fun and do it all over again :)

  • @Needmorehorsepower

keeping it for now. still has a few minor issues i want to fix before i sell it.

also going to wait untill spring summer when demand is a bit higher for cars with sun roofs

  • @01GPGT sounds great i love bying the parts cheap and putting together a nice car and making a couple grand :) let me know how it goes if you ever need any info or want to bounce something off me give a shout i pretty much stick to gm but ive dabled in them all ill never do another ford if i can help it i did an explorer that was a major pain in the ass but i made 1500 and took the guys chevy tracker in trade for 500 fixed a couple things cheap and sold it for 3100

  • @Needmorehorsepower

if i ever run into an issue i will.

  • That actually sounds more like a loose rocker arm.

  • @jimblemania it was a rod knock.

had a spun rod barring on 4 and 5.

  • @jimblemania I agree. I know the poster states it was a spun bearing, but based on the sound in the video I'd say he left a rocker loose or mixed up the push rods.

  • @BobbyKos and this is why sounds recorded on basic cellphone cameras or handhelds are not good diagnostic information.

  • @anfman1986 i did not use a cell phone. the sound was not changed or distorted in any way that is exactly how it sounded only reason i used that camera

  • @BobbyKos it was a rod knock took the engine apart when i replaced it cyl 5&6 spun a rod it was not the rockers. and that is exactly how it sounded as well the camera did not change the sound
