@kristianweston B-cuz all life is experience and all experience is sencesing and sencesing is only posible due to the principlel of contrast. (without darkness(or shadow) there would be no sensing of light.
@kristianweston Hey man! Martinus was a danish practically unknown also in his homecontry Denamrk. Thinker/philosofer (1890-1981) Martinus.dk (choose language) ((english, spanish, esparanto, german, french, ect ect)
He is known (as the only one to my information) to defend the darkness/evil/unplesant/coldness/nigth/winter of the universe. Theese are nessesary parts of the whole.
Sitting here enjoying all our loops (mega XLlander) too...first time my husband is listening to the Orb finding great comfort and laughter from us oldies...enjoying the music...great memories...15 years on...making more memories...love it. Nuff said
thanx orb for teaching me the value of feeding delay lines plus any other effect in my studio rack back onto themselves and also the value of resampling my loops and stems of audio within inches of their lives. experimentation and machines go hand in hand, sometimes you have to let go of the steering wheel to stop driving in the middle of the road. orbus terrarum is very ahead of its time, deeply introspective and original organism of sound
Nowadays, music taste´s people are so normative that they forget how this type of music is mind-blowing for the soul, the mind and the body. The Orb is an experience, you have to enter deeply into their music, this is not fast-food shit music, so i´am happy to see that few can appreciate that, it makes me feel special. But who cares, the music is so damm fine.
Orb, my former love... 1995. This was one of the masterpieces in Orbvs Terrarvm... The title was also Plateav as it could've been written hundreds of years ago in Latin (all uppercase of course). I still remember that Mars rock face in a small circle on the cover of this album... Orb has had so much influence on me in the past and I am very thankful for that.
Actually, I'm Christopher. Unless you meant to say "You're ignorant as hell."
Which is what I think you meant, but I don't think you're right. I think my feelings about this song are in and of themselves, and not a facet of my intelligence. Now if I thought classical music was boring, then I might be ignorant.
@flimflam0069 ........ no these guys are right .... if you think this is boring it's because you have no life ..... this music is a soundtrack for an enlightened mind
@pouderbern I think this is boring, therefore I have no life. You're begging the question.
This music is for an enlightened mind. If I don't like it, then I don't have an enlightened mind. Again, a fallacious argument.
People have different tastes man. I'm not saying it's bad music, I'm just saying I don't find it very gripping. Why are you guys coming down on me like I'm evil? Maybe I shouldn't have said it was 'boring', considering it's kind of knee jerk, but all in all I just don't like it
@flimflam0069 it's prob cuz this is one of the most popular tracks from a group that has a very dedicated following, you should check out the live version of one of their songs .... fiftyfirstfloorfilms has it .... it's pretty good ..... i hope you don't find it boring, also i am happy to see that you don't respond with the same aggravating comments being leveled at you
@flimflam0069 You're absolutely right. Bringing "enlightenment" into the argument is a bit irrelevant.
However, the Orb is a rare musical project that has the ability to use an original vocabulary of sounds and yet make it sound really pleasant. You "don't find it very gripping" because it's not. That's not the type of music it is. Put this on some day when you feel restful and you may hear it completely differently. Or try "Blue Room" or "A Huge Ever-growing Pulsating Brain..."
I would recommend you all having a listen to The Orb's "Terminus". It's the last track on that awful album Cydonia, but is clearly something written in the style of this album. Beautiful, Beautiful piece of music.
For quite some time now I have regarded this album as amongst the greatest bodies of work I know of. I can't think of many more now as musically I've kind of switched off since discovering this sonic epiphony, although Bach's 24 preludes & fugues, and Pink Floyd's DSOTM from the Classical and pop genres respectively spring to mind as comparative masterpieces.
Although the whole album "does it for me", this, as an hypnotic earthy trance inducing sonic poem, is a VERY special dreamy highlight.

with this song I dream I'm flying (need no wings) all over a virgin earth like planet, with no humans, only me and large oceans, virgin rainforests, high mountains, deserts and long rivers, all the animal species living with no human interference, and I can see them all from above. I don't know wether this is the intention of this, but it makes that effect on me. Orbus terrarum, the whole album is great, but this song is specially beautiful.

Other pioneers in ambient is Pete Namlook, Bill Lasswell and William Orbit being a couple of the first to produce such sounds.

with this song I dream I'm flying (need no wings) all over a virgin earth like planet, with no humans, only me and large oceans, virgin rainforests, high mountains, deserts and long rivers, all the animal species living with no human interference, and I can see them all from above. I don't know wether this is the intention of this, but it makes that effect on me. Orbus terrarum, the whole album is great, but this song is specially beautiful.

A video for this is kind of unecessary, no? Maybe just watch the inside of your eyelids?

That's not "Valley", that's "Plateau".
I love "Orbus Terrarum", brilliant record. Sea of warm tranquility on one tiny CD.
