I am well aware that Lord Essex was the son of Walter and Lettice Devereux; however, the movie, alludes to his actually being the biological son of Lord Leicester who married Lettice some years after she was widowed. Referring to Robin Dudley as Robert Devereux's father is not inaccurate - since regardless of biological evidence, he was in fact his step 'father'! Your sarcasm is unwarranted and unappreciated.

Nicely done! Essex was indeed a rebel in the end - he was in love with Elizabeth, as was his father Robin (Duke of Leicster) and she with them ... While Robin the father was keenly astute and his understanding of politics saved Elizabeth on more than one occasion after his death and in contrast, the Earl of Essex (also Elizabeth's Lover) was politically inept and emotionally immature which led to his rebellion and eventual execution.
