Take a look from 40 seconds and pause play it like press the button really fast, if u can get it to stop at 0.46 take a look where that tree is its like in line with the tree sort of i think like to the left of the tree i could see a dark area that i think was the stump i dont know just like pause it an play it really quickly pressin the button an see if that works :)

bad luck, pure as that.

he says it in an interview, he didn't see it at the recce whn they were making the pace notes because the stump was hidden under sand, that's why you can't see it in the video. :S

What a bad break. I've watched this over and over on fullscreen HQ and I still cannot see that stump when I'm looking down, let alone when you're looking forward to the next apex. Just bad luck.

why they should do that? this is rallying at it's best.. men and the car on the limit... and roadside objects like that treestump just belongs to rallying.. there never have been in rally finland someone clearing the hedges for drivers.. they have to know what's in there and where to cut

i wouldn't be able to handle that as a driver: sitting there with a bent up car, helpless while the bald dude at the beginning doesn't bother to offer help, he's just snapping pictures so he can show all his friends. i'd clock him first then let him take pictures.

he hit a short tree stump that had been covered with dirt. It wasn't on anyone's stage notes. Makes for a good fight for the title as Hirvonen is only 1 point up now.

Actually the tree stump WAS both in Hirvonen's AND Latvala's notes. The place had been so tricky, that Jarmo Lehtinen (co-driver to Mikko) and Miikka Anttila (co-driver to Latvala) had discussed it after the recce. Loeb was wrong saying that nobody had it in their notes.

I agree with you, championship is alive again, and we're going to the best rally of the season... Rally Finland! Can't wait!

no its not sorry neste rally finland (rally of 1000lakes) has been most spectacular rally in calendar since it was driven first time, poland is mostly like rally of finland but in finland there is more jumps :P

The funny thing about rally is that it is as much surviving a rally as it is being the fastest on every stage. Loeb has won a few times because his competitors went off and realistically rally is as much an endurance race as it is a performance test. He who stands at the end of the day is the winner, that's how it goes.
