@numbuhilostcount "can I come up with a be one?" what? and yes I probably with the same time frame as them. I think anyone above the age of 8 could. Possibly even you.
well if we are comparing aslan to the great spirit, he doens' t always come rushing int o save us. I'm sure aslan wanted them to be able to take care of things on their own. The greatest lesson that any parent can teach their child is to only depend on yourself. The parents only step in when they see their child cannot handle the situation on their own. thats how i interpret this scene.
This is based on christianity, alsan is a picture of Jesus. Reason why aslan did what he did in this movie was because of the same reason God does things. To teach us that we can only rely on him. That is all haha
i love this book.. the one thing i dont like is... dunno.. maybe aslan try to be a punisher god.. allmighty. i dont like that so much.. but the book its great anyways :) !!!
I wish I could, but English is not my mother language and it makes me tired to translate my reasoning. You have to take into account at least this:
1. Narnia stories are myths for children and grown up in the same time;
2. One of the subject of books is the fear that man has when he interacts with God (he is like a lion, it is not easy to be in front of a lion without beeing afraid);
3. Lewis had fear and hate for God when he was a young man, because his mother died when he was a boy.
About what I said, you can read The Lion the Witch... and Prince Caspian. Or if you want the same logic in a story written for grown ups, the best book to read is "Till we have faces (A Myth retold) "
This scene is not the same as in the C.S. Lewis book, but it represents well his philosophy. It's not a stupid scene, it's a hard thing to say to children and a hard thing to understand. You can disagree, but it doesn't mean that it's stupid...
what philosophy? the philosophy that things don't happen the same twice? that's bullshit. especially in this case. because TECHNICALLY he could have come right at the start, and had all the reasons to do just that. the only reason he didn't do it was because he is too powerful and that would mean the movie would end in 5 scenes.
so philosophy or no philosophy. this is a HUGE plot hole
I say it again: you don't like the idea, but you have to read the Narnia books to understand the logic. I think Lewis himself could agree with you when he was a young man. But he changed his mind and wrote about it in many of his books. It's fun to see that after so many years a small piece of a movie can start an harsh discussion here on. I think Lewis should be happy to discuss about this subject. Unfortunatly he is death and I am not clever enough to do it.
@4go10soul If you're really interested in an answer to what the philosophy behind the scene is, and why Aslan does not simply show up at the beginning, CS Lewis wrote a book called Till We Have Faces that addresses the question of why God does not impose himself on the "story" of human history more decisively. Now you may no agree with him, but there is a rationale. He also wrote several books on the problem of evil. But again, that's just if you really want an answer.
" beacuse things never happen the same way twice my dear"?! that's your actual excuse for coming only in the end of the movie and creating a needless "deus ex machina effect"?!
and ontop of all that lucy actually asks him if all her dead friends would be alive if that stupid overgrown cat would have come earlier!!
i wantd to choke with my own hands whoever wrote this scene when i saw it. PURE STUPIDITY!!!
@4go10soul The movie didn't explained as the book the fact that nobody believed in Aslan.
Aslan was waiting for faith but It never came. Also, there are a lot of things that made Aslan not to appear, that was not his fault, all the contrary... He answer that way because he didn't wanted Lucy to feel guilty for the lack of faith of the others
Then why did he let his people suffer 100 year Winter by the White Witch? People believed in Aslan but when you don't or show your face as your family is being slaughtered or turned to stone you can't anyone to pray from your help.
Sorry i think Aslan is a shit leader.....The White Witch might have been a Dictator but she would have gladly murdered the other army without a 2nd thought.
"not everything happens the same way twice" maybe the single shittest philosophical statement ever

I love how Aslan roars right in Lucy's face at the end. If it's loud enough to wake her friends up, I guess she's pretty much deaf, now.

@pandalady366 hahaha you are absolutely correct, C.S Lewis is a christian and im sure that Aslan depicts jesus christ himself in the series.

this still doesnt explain the plot hole.
the reasoning behind the events in a storyline opint of view

i don't understand the logic that you are talking about at all?
can you atleast explain your position? or rather...the logic behind this scene?
