For the people saying you need a data plan for this to work. ITS NOT TRUE. The Iphone has a GPS chip in it. So combine a GPS chip with GPS software and you have a GPS. Do you have a data plan for your current Tom tom? The answer is NO. Well this is the Same shit. They are saying that the new tom tom car kit will have a GPS chip built in so you can even use it with an ipod touch.

It doesn't need to be connected to anything because the maps are stored in memory. But it does need a good GPS signal and it's only for iPhone 3G/3Gs and OS3.

I think TomTom will blow this away. It's like Windows and Apple. Tomtom will give you acces to you music, work with bluetooth and even make a devide for you car to make the gps better. And the quality of the navigon charts really seems to suck

I agree about the hardware thing, buth the monthly fee? Why would they do that? You probably need to buy maps separately from you region and when there's an update, you need to buy this. But paying every month? We're talking about the app store right?

Well, att has a gps option for 9.99 a month. Just go and get either Sygic or this one, Navigon. Both are pretty good. You pay one time fee with no external hardware. Or you can go to this website "XplicitDking" posted and get it for free. I did to try it and it works. Besides with Tom Tom, I'm sure you will end up spending like $100 atleast for hardware, where Sygic and Navigon don't need it and it works great.
