why does everything sounds the same on these test video, i can't tell the diffence. it must be the compression of the video.

It's a subjective thing...but I thought the grace sounded a little Mexican, whereas the Avalon sounded very Mexican; the accent was much fuller and more convincing. the Focusrite on the other hand, was distinctly more Spanish flavoured..what the heck; I'd keep all three of them.

I like the sound of the focusrite the most, the avalon was too coloured whilst the grace is too clean

I have the 737 and after this test its out! The ISA blew it away. 737 sounded muffelled and chocked as compared to the ISA. ISA sounds smooth, balanced thru its range and seriously transparent. Why did you do this test Bro..why ...whyyyyyy? Have to say the 737 has been excellent throughout. Sound and tone is changing all the time I suppose and what was "great" then..is not so "great" now...you think?

@dragonlee1bfed Hi, thanks for comment, now I will stay with the ISA MK2, the quality that has this, but I miss my Avalons, which are in MILICIAstudios, I think having different options Colorization makes my recording is more successful, the avalon sounds excellent on vocals, percussion and acoustic guitars, I love a lot. Focusrite Isa in the 430, I love electric guitars, LV, bongos, acoustic guitars.

@dragonlee1bfed worry not, Dragon.... I own a Focusrite ISA 428 (same mic pre as the 430, but it has 4 mic pre's instead of 1) and the mic pre is fantastic.... Def not super super clean like a Grace or a Millenia, but clean with a flattering and very musical coloring. Plus if youre low on scratch you can always pick up an ISA One for like 500 bucks. Can't go wrong. Its a swiss army knife mic pre, and if you get the Producer Pack, you've got compression, eq, de-essing, filtering, etc... covered.

@Locuas80  Te recomiendo el 737 para que puedas sacar mas la caja de la voz y quede mas procesada analogicamente. y despues lo procesas con un limiter y un eq digital.

@MsSilmar2010 Que Bien Porcierto en ( MERCADO LIBRE ) vamos a vender un focusrite isa 220 nuevo, tenemos dos y dos avalon 737 , un avalon ya se vendio estan negociando, pero tienen otro, contactate a MILICIADGO@HOTMAIL.COM y pueden llegar a un acuerdo. el focus 220 es mas popero, un sonido mas limpio , dependiendo el mic que tengas y la voz , si es bueno y solido el 220 , el avalon 737 me gusta para voces delgadas que nesesitan mucho cuerpo , el avalon si le das 6khz y el 10khz

@harmonydspr gracias yo grabo voces con un solid tube akg y un shure ksm 44. el equipo lo vendes en mercado libre mex. por que yo e buscado pero no venden casi este tipo de equipo.. y tienes rrazon a las voces con mucho cuerpo como que la valvula las opaca un poco yo creo que me voy por el isa 220.... gracias saludos por aqui te estare dando lata un rato jajajaja, bendiciones......

@MsSilmar2010 hola, el lunes vamos a enlistar un focusrite 220, un HD3 con un HD192 de interface con diamons waves , tambien 2 DI box AVALONS U5 y una bateria dw maple de 5 piesas :). este equipo no es comun y no es facil encontrarlo en mexico y en las tiendas es muy caro y cobran 16% de inpuesto.

@camiloposadav con este ejercicion escuchas muy facil la diferencia , y lo que ayuda mucho es tenerlos y escucharlos eh tenido muchos pre-amp y los tengo grabados en mi memoria ( cerebro ) porcierto nuncas sonaria mejor un beringher , ni un motus jejejeje te pasastes jejejejeje , pero me rei :) :) ,jejejejeje porcierto como ago los links , esa aportacion me gusto :O) no quiero ofender a los demas pero yo si la escucho mucho la diferencia....

tienes mucha razon lo de la comprecion, pierde mucho la calidad , cuando lo escuchas con audifonos es mucho mas fasil definir cual es cual. selecciona HD 1080 en el video y escuchas mas claro, un buen ejercicio es quemar un proyecto con varios master con diferentes marcas de cd , si escuchas la diferencia hay cd que se escucha comprimido ,otros distorcionan un 5% en la freq. altas el apogge  es muy abierto y suena muy digital etc.

Me es difficult notar las differencias sutiles que por supuesto serian mas obvia al oitlo en su resoluccion original pero para mi el Avalon y tal vez sea porque tengo uno.

Me interesaria saber los settings que sueles usar para vox atraves de ese mic pre.

You are right - not much difference over compressed youtube. But actually these three units are completely different animals. The Grace is solid state pure preamp, the Avalon is vacume tube mic pre with some compression/eq and the Fucusrite is more of a "channel strip" with a transformer based mic pre.

bueno tengo un presonus firestudio que va hacia el input del avalon 20k el out del avalon hacia el input de la digi 003 comense esta ruta con el firestudio por que siempre puedo tener sonido de esta tarjeta...voy a tratar con el probador de corriente, que puedo ver en el probador? me dira si tengo buena electricidad o algo ?

@balhedz el medidor de corriente es solo para ver que la tierra el neutral y el positivo esten limpios , prenden lucesitas , es muy facil revisarlo, recuerdo que mi amigo tubo el mismo problema que tu , el protools 003, cuando pones el mic en el avalon sale balanciado al 003 y este no deve de entrar en linea ni en mic , deve de tener una entrada sin amplificar nada directo , no deve de ser direct buss o DI , LAMENTABLEMENTE EL 003 LOS CONVERTIDORES no son buenos y son comprimidos.

@balhedz cuando puedas compra un convertidor apoggee rossetta 800 o de dos canales y tu grabacion sera mucho mas limpia. recuerda , no se te olvide revisar lo del aire acondicionado y del cable . que tengas un exelente dia :)

@balhedz Hola gracias por escribir, 1RO revisa tu tierra en la electricidad , si esta correcto, EN HOME DEPOT COMPRA UN probador de corriente, cuesta como 5 dlls para ver si esta correcto, se conecta a la fuente de energia, 2ND usa un buen cable como mogammi o monster cable de 110 ohms , 3RO cuando grabes apaga el aire acondicionado para ver si es el ruido o el transformador , y las luces apagalas tambien cuado lo pruebes. me cuentas que paso :). espero no sea un tubo del aparato .

The Avalon 737 had the best sound to me thick and rich; very constant. The Focusrite had a body but not as much on the low end, and the Grace 201 had the cleanest but thinnest sound to me. Avalon is the winner for my book!
