@Trueflights really???? my lovely EQ2 change too much..i remember when in Starting isle all ppl start with only 4 class (warrior-mage scout healer) at the end of this you chose your homeland after that you made a citizen quest and have the access to move in the middle of the town to reach your trainer and after some class quest you reached the definitive class..my old EQ2 is dead some years ago,it's really sad :(

EQ2 has made leaps and bounds since it's start. But the two main problems the game faces is its own engine and how SoE deals with promotion.
The engine in EQ2 is one that highly relies on the cpu rather then the gpu, also it's one of the reason why there is hardly any realy variety in armor looks or just the basic npc.
Promoting has never been a success with SoE. They're like Microsoft when it comes to promoting. Remember that one Everquest girl promo? Yeah...

I played EQ2 since 2004. The first starting area "Island of Refuge" was never good looking. It was very basic and had hardly any artistic value. Now for those who say "well, it's realistic.", please get that word out of your brain when you're playing a videogame, more so a fantasy videogame with orcs, fairies, and dragons.
I actually play both, and prefer EQ2. It's hard to explain, but the world is just much more immersive, and the lore is really involved. Just look what WOW has become, It is soooo commercialized. I'm not saying it's a bad game, It's been fun for a long time, but the current state of the game is a joke.

EQ has more "powerful" abilities in usage. I feel like I'm blowing something up with powers when I play it. Not so much with wow. Wow is a bit more spammy.
What wow does have though, is smooth game play. Smooth transition. And you have a complete open world to travel through. Wow is a bit more un mystical than EQ2 though. EQ2 has more of a fantasy theme to it, while wow has more of a "realistic" setting of farm lands, green pastures, castles etc, in a cartoony look.
i will always like warcraft in general way more than Everquest 2

i remember playing both at one point and i thought the graphics and effects(especially on spells and magic) looked way better and more creative than in WoW

Correct. Every game in the history of mankind has taken parts or wholes from other games / tabletop games etc, and expounded on them. This is how you get a product that works, but has been polished. Then add to that more inventive stuff to build upon the basics.

well, its not the first, but its based on one of the first 3d mmorpgs (Everquest) and to Furtehlulzk, guess you've played wow? whats so special abut this is that everything isn't easymode (like wow), some classes are really hard to play, but if you master them they can be awesome...crafting is unique, you can lvl up a crafter to lvl 80 but still be lvl 1 ranger if you want...you can have your own house and guildhall where you can start an private auction
runescape is nowhere the worst MMO out there, in fact it's quiet decent with its well laid out quest story line. its main flaw are its lack of pvp selections and grindiness (but what MMO isn't grindy)? WoW is too Kiddish, that's why I'm considering to quit (oh yeah, way too many hunters/paladins/death knights).
I'm considering to switch to EQ2 for a more mature/friendly environment.

If you pick either Queynos or Freeport you have a slower start, the newer starting areas lead you into the game much easier.
Although if like me you like Frogloks then you'll get used to Queynos, take your time and explore and quest around, its fun anyway :)
(Use to play WoW for three years, it just got too easy, all there was left to do was one raid, whereas in EQ2 there is a massive amount of content ranging from easy to very hard whether its quests, dungeons, tradeskilling or raids.

WoW is the easiest MMO out there. If you want to play with mostly a age 14 and below community be my guest. This game is personally much much better. The community is much better. The quests are much better. The mobs are much better. The spells and graphics are WAAY much better. WoW is just to boring and easy. The raiding for EQ2 is much more complicated and advanced and much more fun than WoW raiding. And it is a bit more challenging, but a bit more fun to work on end game gear. Unlike WoW.
@72masterassailant From Sony they have a launcher called "station launcher" that hosts all their games and it has eq2 and eq1 and all the expansions for both.
1) Massive, about 18000 quests gives an idea to WoWs 3000 or so. But there are boats, gryphons, teleporter stones etc. Nothing is too far away.
2) Currently 80 a bit longer then WoW, but you also earn AA points (like talents) for doing things other then grinding, you can mentor down to do low level stuff grouping etc..
3) Lots of lore, its based on EQ1 and the events that happened there. Heritage and deity quests etc. Not a heavy RP person myself.
2. im not trying to fight but how can people like WoW better? i mean everquest 2 has better graphics, more race selection, a better choice of class, more detailed lore in the game, and a more matur community.

By the look of it this is an improvement over Eq 1 for sure. Graphic wise, speed wise, and hopefully survivability wise. As long as there is lots of content, I know I'll like it.

@kelloggcerealxoxo I have never met a person who plays Runescape that isn't a kid. Aside from that one hopelessly obsessed guy that dropped out of school to play MORE runescape... And sure wow has its fair share of kids, but it also has just as many adults. I couldn't say about the EQ community though. Never been part of it. I can however agree about the over abundance of those three classes. Which bothers me especially because I've been playing a paladin since before they became so popular.

Hmm I heard LOTRO didnt have open world pvp..so how can it be a good pvp system. EQ2 ftw. Plus theres no way that LOTRO personalization beats EQ2 it couldnt possibly...graphics? well at max and with shader 3.0 inc EQ2 graphics will even pwn LOTRO....try again..

If you pick either Queynos or Freeport you have a slower start, the newer starting areas lead you into the game much easier.
Although if like me you like Frogloks then you'll get used to Queynos, take your time and explore and quest around, its fun anyway :)
(Use to play WoW for three years, it just got too easy, all there was left to do was one raid, whereas in EQ2 there is a massive amount of content ranging from easy to very hard whether its quests, dungeons, tradeskilling or raids.

WoW is the easiest MMO out there. If you want to play with mostly a age 14 and below community be my guest. This game is personally much much better. The community is much better. The quests are much better. The mobs are much better. The spells and graphics are WAAY much better. WoW is just to boring and easy. The raiding for EQ2 is much more complicated and advanced and much more fun than WoW raiding. And it is a bit more challenging, but a bit more fun to work on end game gear. Unlike WoW.

Could I get an educated response please? (I know that's asking alot for Youtube.)
1: What is the size of EQ2s gaming world like, how long does it take to get around.
2: What is the maxium level and what are the raids/dungeons at the maximum level? Also is it difficult to reach the max level.
3: Is there alot of lore involved in this game and what is the role playing like?

Played WoW for the same sort of time here
1) Massive, about 18000 quests gives an idea to WoWs 3000 or so. But there are boats, gryphons, teleporter stones etc. Nothing is too far away.
2) Currently 80 a bit longer then WoW, but you also earn AA points (like talents) for doing things other then grinding, you can mentor down to do low level stuff grouping etc..
3) Lots of lore, its based on EQ1 and the events that happened there. Heritage and deity quests etc. Not a heavy RP person myself.

By the look of it this is an improvement over Eq 1 for sure. Graphic wise, speed wise, and hopefully survivability wise. As long as there is lots of content, I know I'll like it.

SoE is nice, so if you get the Trial, then you can upgrade your account to pay 15/month without having to buy it.
And I think to get old players back, they give you some of the expansions for free.
Just google EverQuest 2 trial... its long to download though so don't be surprised if it takes 4-6 hours

This is amazing.
Ima resub to this game just for the starter island. The music,theme and generally has a fantastic atmosphere.
Shame this game isnt very popular now a days. I got to lvl 67 and now its hard leveling a zerker in EoF areas solo.
