i heard we're not supposed to use our left hand to prop up the violin while playing the notes. so does that mean we use the shoulder/neck grip thing to counter the pressure when we press down on the strings with our fingers?

In my studio, students learn the bow hold very quickly using the Bow Hold Buddies[tm] bow accessory. The accessory keeps the hand relaxed and fingers in place while we learn more music.
