Dang... Ur opponent is such a noob. Using Overheat first move?!? I fell on the floor laughing when Rapidash knocked itself out with Flare Blitz. Very nice.
If all Pokemon battles were 3vs3, Pokemon like Charizard and possibly Typhlosion would not be NU, with Stealth Rock being a lot less useful. This is why when it comes to battle tower teams, i take little attention to Smogon and its tiers (heck, my current Battle Tower team features Mothim and Rapidash)
There's also their OHKO moves that always hit and how any atatck you have that's under 100% accuracy will miss half the time.
To make things worse, the Courtyard Colosseum challenge in PBR takes place under the "fog" field condition, which lowers the accuracy of every move in the battle. And, of course, the accuracy lowers more for you than it does the computer. I had Double Hit on Ambipom miss six times in a row there.
Again, I share your opinion, though I don't do very much single player in PBR. (and when I do Courtyard, it's always with a weather team) I Battle Tower, however, I get everything you mentioned. Theres a paticular Crawdaunt there that shows up rather early, and many players have grown to loathe it.
I'm familiar with that Crawdaunt, as I've fallen to it before: Guillotine, Crunch (for Ghosts), Waterfall (for Sturdy Pokémon), and something I forgot, and it has a Quick Claw that always works.
The last go I had with the Battle Tower, I was shut down at 14 by that Double Teaming Rotom. I couldn't hit Rotom at all after the first double team, and since it has a Focus Sash (as I've faced it many times before), there's no way to prevent it from using Double Team at least once.
That and a Double Team, Swords Dance Scyther are what usually do me in. But it's worse in Colloseum and XD, which have opponents with entire teams based around one hit KOs.
What makes me lose, more than anything else, is the fact that I can only pick three Pokémon. That usually means I'd be ill-prepared to take out certain Pokémon once some of mine have fainted.
The game seems to know the inherent weaknesses of my Pokémon and eally start to capitalize on that. For instance, one run I had showed that Water Pokémon mess me up. So every single match after that had a Water Pokémon in it.
I also share that view, which is why I think not all of the Smogon standards work in Battle Tower/PBR, as 3 vs. 3 is a VERY different style of game to 6 vs. 6.
In DS Wi-Fi battles, you can use a normal 6 v 6 strategy like Smogon tells us.
But just as you said, you can see each other's teams before a match, which make some strategies hard to pull off, as the opponent will have a good chance of predicting that strategy, and do something about it before it even starts.
On PBR Wi-Fi, I usually use Pokémon that either are less reliable of each other, and can do more on their own, Or change the order of my team to fool the opponent.
The Legendary Pokémon from previous generations can only be had throguh Pal Park. You need to catch them in a 3rd-generaiton game, like FireRed/LeafGreen, and transfer them to Diamond/Pearl.
You Pokémon will become Level 50 when you battle under Level 50 All. Don't worry about it.
that guy made a big mistake asking his Charizard to use Fly when your Pokemon knew substitute! it sounds like the kind of mistake my brother would make... :D
I find it VERY funny that you didn't even need Phione to get rid of this team. I would've done the same in case half of that team had Solarbeam. It is kind of dumb that this guy didn't have a Groudon in this team.
I know Groudon isn't a fire type, but with Fire punch and the fact that it brings out the sun to eliminate the power of water attacks and increase fire's and Solarbeam's, it almost seems obvious...

Lol, that guy thinks he's Blane. This is WAY better than the party of Kanto starters downed by Crawdaunt (or whatever it's spelled) singlehandedly :P

@shaynastar5 Substitute has a lot of uses. It works best if you're good at predicting what your opponent will do.

@Midnax123 It's unlocked from the start. You just don't play in it in single-player mode.

the move protect is stupid and useless and entei runs like a FAG on PBR much like many other pokemon, why do they make them look silly? protect sucks
imnickjonascrazy101 2 years ago
There are many uses for Protect. You're just not thinking deeply enough.
Overhazard 2 years ago
Just like Substitute
eclipsemoon98 2 years ago
i agree. protect is the most annoying move ever. ive gone up against protect loads of times and just hate it
diddyking432 2 years ago
Too much Fire! It was extinguished without Water, though.
QRay100 3 years ago 10
I feel your pain, Overhazard. I hate it when those inaccurate moves keep missing.
Though I have even worse luck: I once missed three times in a row with Leaf Storm. (90% accuracy)
BigKlingy 3 years ago
I missed twice before, which cost me the match. But three times is definitely worse.
Of course, it's nothing compared to when I go up against computer players.
Overhazard 3 years ago
Interesting, I also have horrendous luck against computer players. But, then again, they have a tendency to overuse Double Team and Brightpowder.

Not to mention that you see your opponent's team before you begin, which takes a lot of potency out of the likes of Wobbuffet and Dugtrio.

A Fire-Type team with no Groudon? This is madness!
ShadowWolfTJC 4 years ago
Woah, Entei really is a rare sighting. That's the only legendary I'd really ever use competitively, it is like Flareon's cousin to me. :3
I'm more interested in making a good mono-bug team before planning a mono-fire team.
DigitalFlareon 4 years ago
A Fire-type user... they're easy to defeat. His team was poorly built.
dalandb4time 4 years ago
I would have even tried F-thrower eventually, since your Blaze kicks in once your HP is low, eitherway I never understood monotype teams

Weird. That Entei had an absolutely horrible moveset, but yet he was clever enough to PP burn all of your Focus Blasts.

I should have continued to use Nasty Plot...Oh well. I wonder if that was what he really planned, to waste my PP.
Overhazard 4 years ago
Your Infernape should learn Earthquake oh well.
LorenzoTheComic 4 years ago
Well, its a special attacking Infernape.
That would be silly, especially since Overhazard would need to delete a different move whihc is pretty important to his strategy.
Mixed sweepers are hard to pull off.
greeneee789 4 years ago 2
I know... I obviously AR'ed to teach my Infernape Thunder punch. I AR to make Videos, not because I like it.

What in the world are you talking about? I just said that it would be foolish for overhazard to teach his infernape earthquake.
I didn't say anything about Action Replay.
