Holy cow! when I saw the first moving train (The BN Grain train) after the locos went by I went to check my email and when came back it was still going!! Great video!! Keep em coming!!
Nice vid you cant beat class 1 piggybacks. Can the "flashing freddy" be put on any car at the rear of the train or does it have to stay on the car you put it on?
It's permanent. They're fairly fragile so it's better to leave it alone. I've connected a trainline to it too for more simulated realism. This brand is no longer available. Ring Engineering makes a nice one that is built into a truck (wheelset). You can mount it to any car you want but I wouldn't recommend swapping it around. It too is fragile. See my vid "Just Sittin" for a closer look at the type of fred featured here on another car. Also at the end of TAA part 19 I have 4 of them together.
Yeah I kinda figured fred would be fragile, Ive never had one seeing how I run C&EI and dad runs Chessie we've always had a caboose at the end. Anyway thanks for posting.
Gosh, thats a horrible club, that president needs to be removed! lol. I can't wait to have a visit there myself. Nice train Steve! That qualifies as a big one!
They are SD60's. EMD painted them up in BN's new "Tiger Stripe" scheme and loaned them to BN to try out in late 1986. BN ran them on every type of train they had and wound up buying 100 SD60M's (the 9200's) and leasing 100 standard cabs from Oakway Leasing (the 9000's). The Tiger Stripe units were returned to EMD in 1987 where they were "patched over" and sent to other railroads for trial.
@wesolint How many mains are there and how many sq. feet is all of the track?

Sorry, I meant the second song.
revolution1one 2 years ago
Lol. Don't worry. Anyone know the name of the song? I wounder if all three engines were powered.
revolution1one 2 years ago
The 1st song is a TV theme song for a show called "The Virginian". The 2nd song is "Go For A Soda" by Kim Mitchell.
All 3 Proto 2000 SD60's are powered. They are brutes and just 1 of them can easily pull that whole train!
wesolint 2 years ago
Cool, thanks.
My Proto 2000's are nice but make a thumping sound when they speed up.
Two are Alco FA-2's and one is a EMD GP30.

Yov have cracked axle gears. This was very common in the early run units. You can replace them with Athearn parts or get Proto parts from Walthers.

Those are the only 3 Spartan cab SD60s BN had, BN returned them to EMD a short time later.
