Hey seriously im from madison and think thats awesome as hell ( as well as expect that from our UW) but im a plow driver for a private company too and we all pull long ass hours clearing roads walks and parking lots trying to make it safe for folks to get around. Thats a real dick move pelting those drivers with snow while they're out there making sure your street is clear and safe to drive on. If you have any respect you should feel like total assholes

okay so i've read all of these comments from the last few days and i really don't understand why people are so upset about it. My neighbors were drunk, happy, and reliving their childhoods by building snowmen and acting immaturely. We all knew snowplows were eventually going to come knock them down, and yes while it was stupid & dangerous to stand out in front of the plows, the snowmen were no match for the trucks and all the drivers had to do (and did) was step on the gas. problem solved.
I'm not sure why so many people are getting upset at this video. It's a bunch of drunken college students enjoying the night before a snow day. However, nothing happened so all of these "what ifs" are pretty pointless. Yes, they are acting like six-year-olds. Idiot students don't realize the long term ramifications of NOT plowing the street. Whether or not the street is consistently used is irrelevant. Think of how many people you piss off by making them take detours instead, and take into consideration that snow on the road = potential ice hazard.
Bottom line, these idiots should not have been making snowmen in the street, plain and simple.
The student knew what was going to happen, they're not stupid, which is why it was filmed. But what happens if the streets are not plowed? What if there's a fire, or an emergency requiring an ambulance. Would you want some idiot students blocking roads with snowmen during a storm? No...and they got what they deserved.

Rebuild them? Really? I can understand wanting to build snowmen, but not in the middle of the street. That isn't only a douchebag thing to do to normal drivers, it's also a public safety issue. If they blocked an ambulance, they'd be lucky to be able to afford ramen after the lawsuits were over.

okay so i've read all of these comments from the last few days and i really don't understand why people are so upset about it. My neighbors were drunk, happy, and reliving their childhoods by building snowmen and acting immaturely. We all knew snowplows were eventually going to come knock them down, and yes while it was stupid & dangerous to stand out in front of the plows, the snowmen were no match for the trucks and all the drivers had to do (and did) was step on the gas. problem solved.

I'm not sure why so many people are getting upset at this video. It's a bunch of drunken college students enjoying the night before a snow day. However, nothing happened so all of these "what ifs" are pretty pointless. Yes, they are acting like six-year-olds. Anyone that has seen heavily intoxicated people can find a lot of similarities between those people and six-year-olds. In other matters, this is downtown Madison, those people don't have lawns. I hope they all get in trouble for this random act of stupidity. I run a plow for a village up in northern Wisconsin, and this is the most retarded thing that I've ever seen. You don't think we have enough to look out for while keeping the streets clean? Gotta throw some drunks out in the road protecting other hazards for us to dodge? As soon as those snowballs went back on the road, I would have had the cops on the horn. No, probably as soon as the drunks wouldn't get out of the way.

Idiot students don't realize the long term ramifications of NOT plowing the street. Whether or not the street is consistently used is irrelevant. Think of how many people you piss off by making them take detours instead, and take into consideration that snow on the road = potential ice hazard.

Bottom line, these idiots should not have been making snowmen in the street, plain and simple.
The student knew what was going to happen, they're not stupid, which is why it was filmed. But what happens if the streets are not plowed? What if there's a fire, or an emergency requiring an ambulance. Would you want some idiot students blocking roads with snowmen during a storm? No...and they got what they deserved.
Next time, don't be a tool and block the road.
