  • I made chicken fajitas with the marinade ,plus guacamoli (following your videos) , it was better than what I ate in restaurants. You are a 5 stars chef *****

  • @alitou001

Thanks so much for the comment! Glad you enjoyed them.

  • I didn't have any oranges or orange juice, but I made this without the water and it was awesome! Thank you so much Chef!

  • I'm gonna go try this right now, I'll let you know how it turns out!

  • just what i was loking for

  • i love your marinade

  • @chubis101

Glad you enjoy it. Thanks for commenting!

  • Love this marinade! Just watched the fajaita video and cant wait to try sautee the meat and veggies with some marinade! Also, would it be ok to marinade overnite?

  • @Crapboat

It would be fine to marinade over night. Hope you enjoy!

    Cheers!

  • youre awesome.

  • i just have two question what's the name of the wine red and white? and the other question is can we use regular wine or it have to be specific kind if wine? thank you so much...

  • @artemiohernandez07 I usually use chardonnay and cabernet when cooking, just because I have it on hand.

  • Best fajita marinade I've found. I like to do a quarter cup of water or even omit the water entirely. I also add about a half shot of tequila. :)

My wife and I love em! Thanks again!

  • @djdamonexx You're welcome! Glad you like it! Cheers, Jason

  • When recipes state a "cup" of water, how much is that exactly?

  • @destyrian

    Hi.

A cup is also 8 ounces and about 250ml.

  • @ChefTips Thanks very much, I see "cups" expressed alot in cooking, now I know what that means.

I tried out this marinade, minus the cumin and it was very nice. I think next time, however, I will leave out the Wine Vinegar. I found with the lemon/orange juice, the vinegar was just too overpowering, but I guess that's my preference. I was also using Chicken, not steak, so I imagine the vinegar works better with red meat.

  • Came out good. Thanks

  • @EBABE143 You're welcome!

  • Hi Jason, I was wondering if you could possibly do kitchen product video. I'd like to see what you think are staple products for home cook's like me. thks

  • @ichoose2bhappy Sure. I have done a few of them. Santoku knife, salad spinner, cutting board, sharpening stone, magnetic knife holder. But that's a good idea to do them all in one video!

  • @ChefTips I watched those videos and it got me to thinking about what pots or electric gadgets would you recommended. Thks for your time

  • @ichoose2bhappy Thanks! Maybe one day I'll go to a culinary supply store and recommend some items. That might be a fun video. Thanks for the suggestion! Cheers, Jason

  • Looks good!!!

  • instead of water, could i use soy sauce instead?

  • @liddlemisscrystal I don't think soy sauce would be good in a fajita marinade, but that's just me... Feel free to make it your own. :)

  • @liddlemisscrystal

Yo dawg, tried soy sauce once. Came out weird.

  • @liddlemisscrystal I know this is way late, but I would not recommend soy sauce. It's very salty and hat would overpower everything else.

If you want to do a terriyaki marinade, mix equal parts soy sauce and white sugar, then add about two Tbsp chopped garlic and two Tbsp chopped fresh ginger. Let the meat marinade overnight, and grill.

(My mother in law is japanese, and she taught me this recipe.)

  • stop at 1:39 lol@his face

  • thanx for the recipe. Simple and ingredients not hard to find.

  • This was great! Would have made a rubber boot edible. =)

  • @rvrcitygrl

    Ha haa! Thanks!! =]

  • Can i use the same marinate for vegetables !

  • Love your tips on cooking, one thing do you cook the meat cold or room temp. What do you think is best. Thank You again

  • Is it safe to marinate for around 24 hours? I had planned to make it for my hard working wife (auditor) but she already ate. I already put the meat in the marinade, so just curious if that will cause any issues?

  • @Eelyen

Hello. As long as your meat is marinating under refrigeration it will be fine.

  • @ChefTips As usual, it turned out awesome. Done this recipe several times now :) Although, this time I used ribeye steak because the store didn't have any skirt steak. So it was a little extra tender :P

  • @Eelyen Great! So glad you like the recipe!

  • kyoo - min not coo - min but i guess it doesnt matter

  • Hi the chicken flesh goes white, I guess from the acidity. Is this okay?

  • @polarbearfelly

Hi. Yes, it will "cook" a bit from the acidity.

  • @ChefTips Cool, works a treat every time, good recipe! Cheers!

  • Why lemon and orange instead of the traditional lime?

  • That's my way of doing it. The flavor is really nice.

  • ...great marinade, but omit the water! Trust me on this one! Omit the water, and add the zest of the lemon and orange, then try it again and you'll find the flavours are more intense and a nicer finish on the meat!

    Chef Steve

  • @steveboomhour : what does "omit" mean?

  • @gadget956 Omit means to leave out

  • @steveboomhour i agree totally ... water isnt your friend here ... oils dont dissolve in water ... but they do mix with other oils , since what you are working with here is all oils ...water would at best emulsify and more likely split out and enter the meat keeping the flavour oils out ... good point

  • I love this marinade... It's simple and ez...thankx !!!

  • Yeah!I find my youtube Chef!:D

  • i marinaded the chicken about 20 hours. friend on a pan. it's quite good but i taste water in it. :( i tried pour the water away when it appears.

  • @Julmuu

Hello. Did you add all of the marinade to the pan?

  • @ChefTips

put all to filter. stirred well. then to the pan.

  • did the marinade but i didnt pour the oil slowly. is it important to pour slowly?

  • If everything got incorporated well, then it's OK.

  • muy bueno y muy sabroso muchas gracias tony de cochella ca,

  • @ochoa398

    Thanks Tony!

  • I like your recipes, I find tequila a good addition to the marinade as well.

  • Mmm. That sounds great!

  • mouthwatering! how long should i marinade

  • About one hour in the refrigerator. I have the full recipe on my Web site. Just click the banner on the top of my YouTube channel. Cheers, Jason

  • Me mexican i qualify as an expert here... j/k but seriously try this... marinade the fajitas for an two hours in bud light then put some good lemon pepper on it... I use the adams brand... cook well done... trust me and enjoy...

    Cheers!

  • You post some good recipes.

  • @crazyDOORcom

    Thank you.

  • whats fajitas!? weird name

  • Fajitas is Spanish for flank steak. It's popular throughout southwest United States, gaining popularity nationwide.

  • i love your use of the orange and the lemon juice.

it is a really nice touch.

    killer recipe man!!!

  • going to try hope its worth it

  • Hope you liked the recipe!

  • great recipe and very handsome chef! 5 stars rating for both recipe and chef. glad i found your video.

  • Thanks for rating, and for the nice comment.

  • I use just a little Corona when marinating chicken. Orange is new to me though. great recipe.

  • Thanks! I'll have to try Corona sometime!

  • thanks jason on my way to the market to do my on ..very helpful

  • You're welcome. Hope you enjoy the recipe. I just made this this weekend for a party. I used it on beef and chicken. Everyone loved it topped with home made guacamole!

    Cheers,

    Jason

  • jason at my mexaican market the meat is very red in color and very good ,have you herd of people useing red food color in marinate

  • I haven't heard of red food color; perhaps it's some sort of red chili base.

  • you are so nice jason!

  • 1:18 we know that yuo didnt have to tell but some people are dumb they dont know

  • I am an American living in the Philippines and I love to make fajitas but am somewhat contrained by the availability of ingredients. Even so I have had good results using Cane Vinegar and Calamansi Juice in lieu of lemon juice. Thanks for your videos, they certainly are informative.

  • Thanks for sharing your comment BrSpiritus! Glad you like our videos.

    Cheers,

    Jason

  • how long do you marinade the beef or chicken in the marinade and can I use regular vinegar instead of red wine vinegar? Will it still taste good?

  • These are marinated for about 1 hour in the refrigerator. I prefer the red wine vinegar, so I can't tell you how it would taste with plain. It might be worth it to go buy the red wine vinegar. It's nice in a variety of dishes and vinaigrettes. Cheers! Jason

  • he said 30 mins and yes you can, i use pee instead of vinegar

  • I love this video. It inspires me to make fajita for supper tomorrow. Thanks.

    Linda

  • Hope you enjoyed the recipe Linda! =] Thanks for commenting.

    Jason

  • This was delicious! Does it work well with chicken?

  • Hello. I used this for chicken this weekend. It was great!

  • Disappointed in this video

As a stoner who watches your videos I must say you always show the cooking and adding the meat. If you're gonna make marinade sauce you should show your meat cooking as well.

I hope you know I've seen all your videos and I hope you add one showing you cooking Fajitas.

    Peace: IN

  • I have a video showing the cooking. The video is titled "Fajitas!" Go check it out! =]

  • Thanks I checked it out

  • Cool.

  • how long can i keep this in the fridge?? I left for next time in glass bottle in fridge.

    Great video,

  • I made a fajita with this marinade and the guacamole you showed how to make in your guacamole video and it was fantastic. Leftovers to look forward to for three days :)

  • So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for letting us know how it turned out. Cheers! Jason

  • ...and this is good for how much fajita?

  • Hi. This will make enough to cover up to 2 pounds of meat. Thanks for your question.

  • Why no limes?

  • Hi Rukus555. Good question.

I have used limes in place of the lemon/orange and it is just as good. I sometimes add fresh squeezed lime juice on top of the cooked fajitas.

  • Great tips! excellent recipe! Thanks for the video.

  • You bet, and thanks for your question/comment!

  • Me T00, I agree,? Iam mexican american and we use imes rathr than Iim0ns the taste is way diferent.

  • WOW..cool will be trying this recipe this summer for sure. Thanks

  • You're welcome. Hope you enjoy the recipe, and thanks for commenting!

  • Thanks jamessvev!

  • thanks, it turned out well.

  • hi, i followed this marinade recipe and it was good, thanks chef! by the way, im posting a video response =)

  • Cool ~ We are so happy you enjoyed it! Thanks! Jason

  • Was going to make fajita's today. And usually I just use a pre-made spice mix. But I am going to try this today, it sounds great :)

  • How did you like it? Thanks so much for your feedback! Jason

  • Ahh they were awesome. I was letting the marinade rest for half an hour like you said, upstairs in the kitchen. And my wife came home and said it smells good. And I hadn't even started cooking yet.

We even reused the marinade overnight on some chicken for stirfry the next day :)

  • Thanks for responding again Eelyen. Glad you and your wife enjoyed the recipe.

    Cheers,

    Jason

  • I'm going to try this recipe tonight! Is it important to catch the lemon seeds though? after all you're just marinating, not consuming the liquid...good video though

  • Hope you enjoy the recipe. It's not crucial to catch the seeds.

  • Awesome presentation.

  • Thanks WeepyD! Jason

  • You've answered all the questions I had. What a fabulous presentation. It's nice to see a chef prepare regular dishes we can cook at home. I'm going to watch all your videos. Keep 'em coming.

  • That comment made my day drusilla53. Thank you!

    Jason

  • can you use another oil instead of olive oil

  • Hi.

Yes, you can use any oil of your choice.

  • Looks awesome! Is there any other vinegar I can use besides the red-wine vinegar? I'm Muslim and I don't consume anything with alcohol in it. Does regular rice vinegar, white vinegar etc work the same or do they mess up the flavor? Thanks.

  • You can use white vinegar for this recipe. Thanks for commenting!

    Jason

  • Do you suggest if i add lime juice?, and this marinade is for 1 pound correct so if i added more meat i will add more of the ingredients?

  • You can use lime juice in place of the orange if you prefer. I think this will make enough to cover more than one pound of meat. You can always double the ingredients to make more.

Hope this helps, and thanks for your question.

  • hello chef how many ml is one cup?

  • About 250 ml.

  • Can you keep this marinade for some time or?

  • Good question.

Throw out any left over marinade that was used to marinade raw meat. If you have marinade left over that was not used, you can keep that in the refrigerator for a week, or freeze it for up to 6 months.

  • hi chef what kind of beef you use for fajitas?

  • Good question. I use flap meat. Check out my fajita video to get more info.

  • This marinade went down great with the whole family. We made the fajitas too, it was really fun and easy. Thanks for the recipes.

  • Glad you enjoyed them! It's one of our favorite recipes to prepare during the summer months. Thanks again!

  • Man I love those fajitas! Try adding a little bit of liqiud smoke to the marinade!

Awesome! Keep up the good work!

  • That sounds good! Thanks for your input.

    Cheers!

  • OH DANG THAT IS FAST GOOD VIDEO

  • Hey thanks DaddieRay, and thanks for subscribing too!

  • I add a little beer in the marinade. My fav Mexican food. Nothing beats red hot fajitas on a cold Swedish winter day!

  • That sounds good! Thanks for commenting. =]

  • it's only 7 in the morning and you got me craving fajitas!!!!! ;)

  • LOL! I'd eat fajitas for breakfast with a side of eggs! ;)

  • Cool video!

    Five Stars!!
