There is no right to privacy in a public place. You can freely film anyone in public just as the police do with dash cam and as many cities do with surveillance cameras. Cops are human and they are not immuned to temptations, case in point, a Sheriff deputy in NC was caught stealing tiles worth $2000 in a resident house that he was supposedly proctecting. He was caught by a neighbor who called 911. There are many others too. My wife was stopped for traffic infraction, the NC State Trooper stole $500 from her purse. Her words against him and of course, the trooper won. I don't say of them are bad, but the bad ones do make them look very bad in public's eyes.

Overnight in the local jail (until court dismisses the charges) could occur, which could be grounds for a lawsuit against the LO agencey involved. Cops don't like an even "playing field" and will fight like hell to keep the fear in people. They want blind obedience from people. Even corrupt courts can only back them just so far (usually an apeal to the next higher level of court.) Many cops are backing down when challenged in the street!!

Cameras cannot be confiscated as evidence or for any other purpose without a warrant or subpoena or both. That might be part of the reason -- but a more likely reason is that there are countless videos were people who are anti-cops purposely antogise them police.
It dosen't matter what the cops do because these people will either edit the video or leave out key information.. Most of the time the only part you see on video is the arrest -- you never see what led up to it

The police seem to be ill schooled in the law. The only thing that will stop this practice is for the local police departments to suffer monetary penalties for each infraction. The local district attorneys would serve the taxpayers well if they would instruct the sherrifs and chiefs of police on the public's right to videotape in public.

There is an act known as the Patriot Act that allows the US gov't (including FBI) to search any premises or to tap the phone/Internet or to look up financial records or virtually anything about the "suspect" without any notifications or warrants. Some companies outside the US are trying to avoid American "cloud" services such as Google, Hotmail, Dropbox, and so on because of that act, which is almost impractical.

NOT limo tint, but .073 darker than whats allowed, sunglasses provide more tint. ALL Law enforcement should be video taped during anything they do, they reason they are in a hurry to outlaw the video tapping is because so many violate peoples rights.
