  • Nearly all of Hanks chord progressions are straight blues. But of course blues, gospel and bluegrass are the foundations of country, and Hank's poetry and southern drawl put him in that genre. I think hank knew what he was doing, using the blues as his foundation to make great country music, just like Ray Charles to an even higher degree.

  • 4 people called a name to no answer

  • I thought everyone had heard HANK sing this. glad that you found it on here. Hank will always be the number one country singer. Most singers now days talk when trying to sing. A good singer to check out is Ross Southerland on youtube. He can sing!!

  • Are you kidding? I used to sing this song when i was a kid!

  • Why havent I heard this before?! Hank was teh first person I remember hearing. ....music-wise..and he was always around. Always. Just those songs and that voice in my grandparents house- which is where I practically grew up. Music was all we really had...especially me. I was the guitar geek and the little folkie girl but......damn....(scuse my language) I never heard this one. Wow....xx thank you for posting this. Peace n love ~"Jenny"

  • some day you'll call my name and i wont answerrrrr cause someday you'll find that im not there...

  • One of Hank,s greatest songs, check out my version not bad, Arthur

  • Hank Williams...........king of country......

  • the movie is called your cheating heart came out in the 60]s

  • does anyone know about the hank willams sr movie with george hamlton?

  • MrThuglifegangsta69 shows us all how much evil exists today!

  • So glad I can put this on fb for my ex to see and know what she threw away.

  • Grrrrr "Content Owner Has Not Made This Video Available On Mobile."

  • I never tire of hearing this man sing. It is a tragedy that he left this world so early. I miss his style of music - I rather wish that country music hadn't taken such a dramatic turn. It's like it isn't country music any more, it's just called country.

  • Hank and his music are timeless. He could make you "feel" the music.

  • HANK WILLIAMS

  • Hank Williams lives on through his music. This is one of his best.

  • hank is the best

  • " what is country music?" this is. period. not so much about where the artist is from, but where they take you. if you never lived way out in the sticks, where you had to drive to your neighbors house on a gravel or dirt road, and felt that awesome loneliness, then maybe todays " country" is ok for you, and thats fine. but to me, its a pale shade, this is the stuff and nobody did it better than hank. nobody. hell, even i try, but cant get near it. so glad its getting out there still..thanks!

  • @MrByaeger hank william was the best

  • @MrByaeger lovely thought.

  • great song

  • My favourite H.W. song.

  • Hank Williams forever in our hearts. How could you ever forget. a song like this? To soon,to young,Rest in peace Hank

  • Well, here I am tonight, at 3:00 in the morning, listening to this song over and over again and knowing all the reasons why. Nobody has ever said it better than this man because it's obvious he was living it himself. He can turn every word into a teardrop and moan the Blues like no one else ever has. Hank Williams was the Blues, and he still is.

  • Three people regret what they did

  • ..some people are filled with evil & hate. it comes from satan the devil, the dragon, the strong ..he's gonna be cast into a bottomless pit of everlasting fire - for ever and ever and ever...

  • How are there any dislikes?? It's a disgrace !!!

  • @18edwardo Someday they will reach for this video and it won't be here.

  • @18edwardo THE DISLIKES COME FROM HOW RETARTED THIS SONG IS

  • @MrThuglifegangsta69 RETARTED Fail

  • @MrThuglifegangsta69 and all caps show you to be retarded.

  • @MrThuglifegangsta69 hahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • @MrThuglifegangsta69

I understand, you will return to look for this song when you grow up. Until then get back to the kids table.

  • Man this is awesome! I love me some old Hank!

  • this is real country there will never be another HANK

  • DO A WEB SEARCH ON:

    charles h. miranda OR:

    charlesthepoet2003

    THANKS.

  • coming from a 16 year old i wish Country was still country and not that junk we have now. Thank You for the song's Hank Sr. you made country music and your son changed it

  • I was in the ninth grade on that January morning in 1953 when it was announced that the Great Hank Williams had passed away, I will never forget that morning!

    philmoretfudpucket

  • 2 Dislikes? Are you crazy?!!!!!

  • @Lehmkuhl33

    They were looking for Jr...

  • whose taylor swift?

  • @davebob65 Taylor Swift is a wannabe country singer. She actually uses stuff to fix her voice

  • And Taylor Swift has the audacity to call herself country. Maybe she should take a listen to some Hank.

  • @geral903 i agree 100% personally i cant believe she has the audacity to walk across the same stage as this man did even if is only a 10ft circle at the grand ol opry stage

  • @geral903 Ok folks let's look at Taylor Swift from a parenting point of view. What would you want your young daughters to look up to?Get these images into your head.TS or Lady Gaga?TS or Beyonce?TS or Amy Whinehouse?Realy look at most of the women in "country" half dressed and trying every trick in the book to cross over into pop.Taylor achieved her popularity by keeping a clean image that is acceptable by most parents.I aplaud her for this.

  • Man, what a sad, great, fucking song....... Thanks for posting.

  • @dhoosee I'm going through a breakup from the woman i intended to marry...and your comment said exactly what I would have said if you hadn't already said it. The man gives me goosebumps with his cold, dead eyes and pure hell drips from each heartbroken syllable he sings; it's beautiful.

  • There will never be another country singer like Hank Williams. I have been listening to him 58 years

  • @garylionel I've been listening to Hank for 62 years! My Grandpa was a musician and played Hank and all the other country music for me.

  • @garylionel He was the very best of them all - I give him a 10+

  • Id like to see who the hell dislikes this... at the time these songs were being recorded it was an entire new chapter in country music that started what we listen to today and inspired all the classics. hats off hank

  • Search Duckhop on youtube

  • anyone who has the audacity to trash talk Hank Williams , not only an american icon , but a country music pioneer, needs to give their heads a shake . remember becareful of stones that you throw? In my opinion anyone who does not come out of a hank williams song a little more wiser has no capacity to feel emotion in the first place. rest in peace Hiram Hank Williams.

  • My God this man had talent. Never to be replaced

  • I just wonder who is the one that dislikes Hanks song. Sad . Great voice. and great song.

  • @zeak62 Whomever is the one, who dislikes Hank Williams Sr. has no taste in music. it doesn't matter there are still One's who appreciate good music.

  • hank williams was one of the best singers in my mind both country and gospel

  • hanks god

  • I love Cash but he is not in the same league as Hank is. Cash has the longevity but Hank is the Father of Country/Honkytonk.

  • @basenjib123 Thats what i'm screamin' brother! Johnny, Waylin and Coe are legends but there is only one Hank Sr.

  • headhome, you got it man

  • looks like he has a boner 1:04, haha. on a serious note though, RIP hank. you are a great inspiration to myself and countless other musicians.

  • Thank you!

  • Back in Hank's day you kinda had to be though

  • I am an alcoholic who no longer drinks so I can really identify with the problem

    he had.

  • We are all flawed and few of us get to touch so many. I used to listen to Hank many many years ago with my great grandmother. He was and remains timeless.

  • say when you point your finger there are three pointing back at you.. hate the sin and love the person and pray for the decessed. there is no neeed to talk to bad about a person who cant defend himself. be a man and jsut appriciate

  • say man you you point your finger at someones flaw look at your hand cause there are three pointing right back at you...... love the person hate the sin and god bless the desseced. no need to talk bad about someone who cant defend himself. call me old fashion but thats how i know

  • ah god, im hurt aojaf'weogfija;roghja;bnmaer;nAW3ORJA;RGJD;ZLFGNJD.FJGNZDFJGNA'R'GOANR'NBOZDF'OBJNZDFLJND;FJGNBADF'JNARFNGA;N;D

  • it's called addiction

  • what killed hank was taking pain killer and drinking. he was in so much pain he was taking more then he should. hank was on tour then he was going to south islands until he beat the boozes. the only reason hank drinked was to ease a bad back pain he had from birth.it had gotten when he fell from a horse.when jr.was born.after a operation his back only got worse. he was taking pain pills and just took to much. he refused to stay at the knoxville hosital because he had missed a show in w.va.

  • @TheJimmy2608 what is this shit..... back pain from BIRTH when he FELL from a horse?? .... come on man we are not fools and Hank us a legend

  • what killed hank was taking pain killer and drinking. he was in so much pain he was taking more then he should. hank

  • Classic Hank Williams. No 1, Just beautiful

  • @barf245. Hank had a bad back. Caused him to miss performances at times. He supposedly was taking lots of pills and drinking too to get some escape. Probably had a ruptured disc. But I won't make excuses as I wasn't there. Spoke to a few folks who met him, drank with him on Bossier Strip, did a little jamming with him-just messing around. None said he was a dope head if that's what you were implying.

  • @Hormone270 Well he was a user, and he was a very heavy drinker. Especially after his wife and him split.

  • @Hormone270 he also had a mild case of spinal-bifada that went undiagnosed

  • Great sound!

  • I grew up listening to Hank Williams Sr. as a kid, and i got teazed alot when in H.S. still listening to Hank, when other kids were listening to Def Lepard, AC/DC, Metallica, and fresh prince, and boys to men. Except for a few songs by Metallica, and AC/DC the rest was all crap. I related so much to Hank the way he wrote his songs about women and their cheating around, cause that was my mother... she was a walking cheatin demon.and for years I hated her very existence. But I have forgiven her.

  • I heard the original by Jimmy Wakely somewhere on the 'net but can't remember where. It sure would be nice if someone would post it.

  • hank was the best all these want to be country singers cant even come close

  • Its nice to hear REAL country music not toby kieth or allan jackson (etc) bullshit.

  • @johnnymclaurin123 Hank would not have approved of the profanity, he would have said "hate yourself for the way you treated me"

  • Hank Sr. would of lived longer if he stayed away from those pills. R.I.P.

  • @barf245 But he died a legend,and not a washed up has-been.

  • @jogga123 True, but Hank's music was so honest, I could never see him being washed-up. Imagine some of the projects that could have happened between Hank and artists like Johnny Cash and George Jones.

  • @barf245 the man died of a brok'in heart!!!! and thats all

  • this song always scared me i was about 16 when i first heard it i wondered just when it would be my turn im 70 now and when i call her name she dont answer shes not dead shes just gone oh well just like hank he always found the right words for the situation in all his songs thank you for posting this great, great song

  • Listening to Hank helps me put things into perspective..... Thank You Good Man.......

  • sounds like my life he was singing about!!

  • Very nice!

Great photos...especially the one of Hank playin' on the truck!

    Thanks!

  • HANK HAD IT SO TRUE !!!

  • Hank left us too early but what a treasure of music and poetry he left.

  • Good old time country. Hard to find anymore. Too bad his bad habits cut his life short.

  • The lady at 1:41 is drop dead gorgeous, i wonder if shes still alive and what she looks like today

  • @VTwanderer Her name is Billie Jean and still alive.

  • This song is my all time favorite and I am old. Thank you for putting it out where other people can hear it because most people have never heard this song.

  • Who's the woman at 1:38? very pretty, but not Miss Audrey me thinks....

  • @wtalley81 billy jean

  • @1flameon

Yes, it is Billy Jean who married Johnny Horton in 1953

  • @wtalley81 Her name is Billie Jean, Hank 2nd wife ,marries October 19 1952

  • great song

  • @LemurinBlack, I realise you're probably a WUM but just in case you're not I'll say if you think Hank Williams was 'one of the worst singers ever' then why the heck are you listening to his music? Go away and find something you enjoy and leave the rest of us - the people who know good music when we hear it - to listen in peace. Hank Williams was one of the best singers/songwriters of the 20th century, something acknowledged by the many other famous singers who later recorded his songs.

  • Big Martin D-28 ringing clear.

  • What a brilliant number and seldom ever played ,All thanks to New (Country???)

  • It's a shame he was one of the worst singers ever.

  • @LemurInBlack how old are you man? really the worst ever? nah man ur an idiot

  • @dirtyolmams81 just saying the truth, fag.

  • @LemurInBlack Go get you a white woman and get some speckled kids!!!Know what im saying!!!!!

  • @LemurInBlack your mom likes it either way so if a fags what ur callin it ma a fag it is

  • @dirtyolmams81 Does somebody mind translating what this little girl said?

  • @dirtyolmams81 Hey ,you know its all right for him to say rascist remarks but if you are white you cant!!!!

  • this just sends chills down me.

  • Hank is the greatest of all time. love his music

  • Considering he died before he reached 30, his impact has been incredible...

  • His music brings me back to memories of my Granny and its like Hank is home...like he makes me feel home, if that makes since.Idk all I can say is he makes you really "feel"

  • This sounds like Oh Danny Boy

  • just an honest voice and a guitar is all Hank needed..truely a beautiful song

  • Gay trailer trash music. I can't believe they played this crap in space. It's trailer trash and gay. Now I have to go back to my hot Asian girlfriend, bye white trash.

  • @LemurInBlack Hank Williams wrote music before trailer trash existed.

The song is written about a woman. Williams is a man, and therefore the song is heterosexual.

    Seriously, man.

  • i agree

  • This song is so haunting if you interpret it as a statement about Williams' own life. Anyone agree?

  • @Brownsc3 kinda like a song to Audrey??? there did come a day she called his name and he didn't answer..so she dressed there baby boy up in a suit and made him bring in the cash..sad really

  • @bluez1981 I meant to say how Williams became addicted to heroin and alcohol, and then he died at the age of 29...

  • @Brownsc3 He drank his health away real quick..plus had a horrible back problem and he popped pills for...even surgreies for it... before he left for that new years show a doctor gave him shoots in his back for the pain..and he got in the back seat of his caddy to be driven to the show with a bottle of whisky and never made it there

  • This is true country music

    dlglohio

  • he set the standard for true country music!

  • thn

  • Thanks for sharing this.

  • If you leave a thumbs down this you don`t have a soul --simple as that

  • Hank is GREAT.

  • Back in the 40s, driving through Georgia, the Carolinas, Arkansas, Tennessee, all you heard on the radio (when a station came in) was Hank Williams. The roadhouses played his music. What a time. Saturday nights, we'd order rounds of beer and not allow the waitress to remove the empties until the table was full. What a time. What fun!

  • This is just so beautiful. He is one of the great singers. A great gift. Goes through time.

  • In one of the photographs ~ 1min. 20 sec into the clip, the one with Hank singing atop the flat bed truck, in the foreground is a car with a gal wearing sunglasses in the driver's seat. Any idea who she is? She is the gal who was the subject of many of the great songs written by Hank Williams. Even though this song wasn't written by Hank, it is a beautiful song and very well performed.

  • "Cain't noooobody sang like Hank." Makes you cry, doesn't it? What a guy!

  • I've heard people say they donn't like Hank Williams, and I just don't quiet understand that. To me Hank is country music, all American, Southern and with that voice of his and his words to his music and the feel of how he sings a song makes it feels as though he could just reach down and grab a persons soul. He's a one of a kind.

  • Same can also be said about:

"Red, White, Blue - and Orange?"

  • hank is truly a legend, a pillar of country music

  • Still The Greatest,NO ONE WILL EVER REPLACE HANK,not even close

  • basenjib123 got it right on the money!!!

  • Not many legends touch a lifetime but Hank sure touched mine. Wish i could thank him personally.

  • @belleray2 some day...

  • ATthe end Hank days 22october that is my birthday

  • Thanks for posting

  • Hank Sr. is the greatest country singer that ever lived....its not even debatable.

  • greatest singer and composer ever...amen

  • @basenjib123 I Agree Hank SR is the best true country singer Waylon is my favorite but he wasnt just country he said it himself they both are still great the music they made will never die.

  • @basenjib123 He is in the top 5 but not the best. Bocephus is the best then Conway, Possum then he comes in at 4 or 5 with Travis.

  • @basenjib123 that is true this moron hilling hoe is wrong in so many levels.saying that his sone was better than him?? jr grabbed his fathers catails all the way through his career..if hank jr had a different name and didnt use that williams last name to drive his career,he wouldnt even be country artist, much less a "legend"

  • @basenjib123 no doubt i get lost listening to hank

  • @basenjib123 amen brother, or sister, this is how it's done

  • "it's not even debatable".......YOU'VE GOT THAT RIGHT!!!!

  • @basenjib123 There are few things that are not debatable and Hank Sr is one of them

  • @basenjib123 he was also an awsome song writer..writing what he felt and going through...

  • @basenjib123 yep

  • @basenjib123 He was also one of the greatest druggies. He did snorted cocaine and was addicted to pain killers.

  • @basenjib123 i so agree with you i am 17 and this is the only style of music that i play you just cant beat some good ole hank

  • @basenjib123 Amen brother

  • @basenjib123 Johnny cash is up there too though...

  • @claytonbrack1 - Johnny Cash is like the Sex Pistols and Hank Williams is like Elvis.

    Take that how you will.

  • truly an amazing musician im only 28 and i appreciate hanks music more than any other

  • hank is truly amazing, he is the pillar of country music

  • this is truly great country.they don't make them like hank anymore.
