I don't know which civilization was the oldest, but i do know that the greeks reached the highest level of advance in the ancient world.. Plato tells us that an egyptian priest told him the story about atlantis, and he told him about a great war between TWO (not one) great and advanced civilizations, the one of atlantis and the one of athens.. The statue on 1:57 is a statue made in Rome by greek sculptors between 40BC and 20BC. At that time, Greece was a roman province since long.

It is made out of seven (7!) blocks of marble locked together.

I don´t think so, because most of the sources say it is just one, including ancient documents.

I think it just broke in seven pieces and then was reunited, perhaps in Renaissance, when it was rediscovered.

The only mention of it being out of one piece is from Pliny. Though when they actually found the statue, it seemed to be in 7 pieces. Not broken, but nicely cut straight lines, 7 different blocks of marble clunched together.

I have read it in my Oxford Archaeological Guide to Rome and in Filippo Coarelli's "Rome and Environs", but I am sure it must be on the web somewhere. Wikipedia has the same information, as does the art-theft website (that one even states that the statue is a forgery and actually by Michelangelo - which I don't believe by the way).

Just google it and you'll find dozens of websites.
