Rich Mullins was a Christian not a catholic he said heaven the song said crucified buried and died on the third day rose again. Catholics believe he is still on the cross.
@therealkoolbeans um... no we catholics do not believe he is still on the cross. We believe in the resurrection. smh please do your research before you speak like an "expert"
1 Peter 3:18 is thought to be referring to the descent into Hell: "being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the spirit, by which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison, a topic of controversy. Could it be the spirits in prison are only souls transitioning, on their way to Heaven , those who like Him, had experienced death at similar time? I am with those who believe it's referring to the time before resurrection for Jesus.
@reynaesantos Just because a song has Hell in it, does not make it wrong. It's a song based on the Apostle's Creed (my favorite one). The creed states: "...suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father."
I thought its was ironic to include alcohol and tobacco in the front of a video associated with Rich Mullins as I had dinner with members of his band following a concert in the early 90's and there were smokers and wine imbibers who were members of his band.. oh the irony. I am a follower of the Way of Jesus but not big on legalism.. As long as I am in flesh I am forever a sinner.. It is by GRACE I am saved .. other than that I do my best..PEACE! ~a~
Wayne (Rich Mullins) still ministers to people (me) even from the grave. Amazing what happens when we build our legacy on the word of God, not the inventions of any man.
@lcurto681 so true, he was interviewed and asked what kind of legacy he wanted to leave. he said he didn't have an ambition to leave a legacy, because he believed it'd be a legacy of ambition. He was the real deal, through and through.
It took several tens of Christians to develop the Apostles Creed, but it only one Rich Mullins to make it a song that can be sung and learned to edify your faith and define what it is we are supposed to believe.
I believe what I believe is what makes me what I am. I did not make it. No, it is making me. It is the very truth of God and not the invention of any man.
I remember years ago (im in college now) back in junior high we did a dance in Confirmation to this exact song. I still remember it!!! This is well put together. Bravo!! I love what you did to the beginning and other parts when Mullins wasn't singing. Love this song!!
when i first heard this song it was just a song but i was just listening to it, really listening, and it helped me understand the way God wants me to live so much better
@Jdchristy And of course the major difference is not the length, but the context. The Nicene Creed is said as a community while the Apostles Creed is a personal profession of faith. The Nicene Creed is "We believe...", while the Apostles Creed is "I believe...".
As a Catholic Catechist, I have seen many eighth graders getting ready for Confirmation, that do not yet understand this difference. They too believe that Apostles Creed is simply a shorter version of the Nicene Creed.
Awesome job on the lyrics and graphics...delivers the message, Thank You...

This song is actually the words to the Nicene creed from the Catholic and protestant churches. Really great song!
sutmac78 3 years ago 2
Apostle's Creed, actually. Nicene Creed is much longer, heheh.

@Jdchristy true, but it'd be pretty hard to put the Winchester shorter Catechism to music.
