I took your advice on passive aggressive ways to deal with this- I have Tourette's. While I was in the library and was ticcing, a lady comes up to me and says, "Hey, this is the adult section-it's not for retards."

So I tell her, "So why are you still here?"

She then starts saying that I shouldn't be so rude, so I tell her, "Well, are you being polite? You just called me retarded."

That shut her up.

You give homophobes/racists too much credit in their abilities to figure out their flaws. Prejudice is passionate and irrational, so I doubt they'll really question themselves. "I was intimidated by a small Asian girl" probably enforces "the Asians are encroaching!" in their minds more than anything.

Everyone seems to get really quiet whenever I take the kids to the playground, or I go to a pool where there are all white people in a hotel. They will just stare at me and won't even say a friendly hello. I don't get it! Sometimes I am very afraid in these situations. Any advice on how to handle these things without getting threatened with physical violence? I'm a very petite lady and don't like fighting or even arguing.
