  • Not bad. "Lower taxes" means something to the average Joe. "Less government" and "more freedom" don't.

  • I'm in Michigan, so keep me informed on your decision.

  • First, it's partly because that is what most people focus on for politics - people who don't vote, vote for President. And w/o a decent showing for President, it hurts lower-level candidates: "Smith is running for Congress as a Libertarian. The party has never received over 1% in any Presidential election." Know what I mean?

But I agree the way to do it is to build up as you suggested, I wrote about it years ago.

Another option is to get behind the Ventura '12 bandwagon now. :O)

    JM

  • Kendyf, a libertarian IS a classical liberal. Jefferson (in rhetoric) and Henry up through Grover Cleveland and into Milton Friedman. And wouldn't you know, but a classical libertarian is now commonly referred to as a "liberal". Basically, anarcho-socialists stole our good liberal name.

Confusing, I know. To even confuse you more, outside of America the classical definition of liberal is still used when referencing "liberalism."

  • I know Barr isn't going to be president, but i'm still voting for him! My voice is more important than who ends up (from the 2 party system) into the white house.

Just remember, the most important thing that we as a people can do, is vote for the correct congress men and women! Don't forget, when it's time to vote, go back and look at the morons who voted for this useless bail-out that was apposed 200:1 by the American people

  • The purpose of focusing on the office of president is to reach a wide audience with our policy proposals. Of course we need local office holders, but we also need to get our message out. A city council candidate can't very well talk about the bailout. A presidential candidate can.

  • I don't like the 800 number "ELECT US". It's too narcissistic for my tastes. It sounds like "ANOINT US" or "GIVE POWER TO US". It's the wrong message. I like the 1 (800) 682-1776 number better. It expresses our principles, rather than saying give us power.

When I read it, my reflexive thought is a skeptical "Why the fuck should we elect you? What makes you so good over me?" It's too narcissistic. It's too divisive and alienating - "US" vs. you.

It not about US. It's about LIBERTY.

  • Why don't they use 1-800-LIB-ERTY?

  • "Why don't they use 1-800-LIB-ERTY?"

Already taken, as are a lot of good toll-free numbers.

  • This is a decent ad, but I am surprised how many people don't even know what Libertarian Party is, and when I mention it or wear my shirt, people think based on the name the party is about being liberal (Ackk)

I like the ideals of the LP party, but I even though I am a card carrying LP, and I vote, and I contribute financially, I believe the party will not be successful until they layout a plan to get from where we are today to a smaller government. It can not all happen in one step.

  • Love it!

  • I suppose its better than nothing, and I can't do better myself, but not the best I've heard.

Granny is talking too fast - so fast that the point gets missed.

  • The silent majority will be voting for Bob Barr.

  • seeing as to how im 14, i doubt i would be able to make any positive contribution to the movement

but i plan to one day grow up and run for senate as a libertarian, and i know i will win.

    .

  • I am 15 now, and I hope to do the same!

As for the ad, well, yea it sucked! Barr's tv ad is better

  • yay, someone with a functioning brain
