  • look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn

a dinosaur victrola listening to Buck Owens

du du du looking out my back door

  • There is no country music now. To play and sing country music requires talent, hence it is no more. Only hunks and bimbos are all you see, all looking the same all sounding the same. No characters: Merle Haggard, George Jones, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Tammy Wynette, Tanya Tucker, Emmy Lou, Dolly, If you have internet radio you can tune in to country music, real country.

  • fucking good song

  • real country... not that crap they put out today

  • I can't tell you how much I loath today's "country" music! Why even call it country, why not call it light rock? Either way won't this crap sell? I was flipping throught the channels recently and stopped on CMT, where there was some show that had "artists" on stage singing Edgar Winter Group's "Free Ride" and totally rockin' out. I say country music died in '81 with the advent of Alabama. Anyone else have a different year?

  • @milesw1966 yheea 2003 when Johnny Cash died... well, at least we still got waylon and merle

  • Creedence Clearwater Revival The song Lookin out my back door says There's a giant doing cartwheels, a statue wearin' high heels.

Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.

A dinosaur Victrola list'ning to Buck Owens.

So I had to look up Buck Owens This was the 1st song Now Im glad I looked up Buck Owens

  • Buck didn't just sing country....He LOOKED country. Back in the day I never

missed his TV show> Don was also a great talent who got kiled in a motorcycle accident...a great loss to Buck. I miss them after all these years.

    der alteist

  • Buck and don are singing together in heaven finally reunited rip don and buck

  • I grew up with this music!

  • hell yes

  • now this is real music !!

  • tony Stallone!

  • dangerous don, may he rest in peace. and buck too.

  • just dial br549...

  • If we could only go back to those days . . .I'd be there in a second . .

  • buck needed a shirt with a larger collar size! hahaha! and that telecaster don's playing would be worth about 8-10K these days.

  • buck needed a shirt with a larger collar size! hahaha!

  • i love them so much....

  • o yea!!

  • Great as usual, anything by Buck Owens was Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I miss country music like this. There needs to be a radio station that just plays true classic country... Not the rock crap we have today...

  • @poohski2012 That is so true. To many singers has damaged Country Music, you dont hear real music like this every day.

  • @poohski2012 We have a station here in San Antonio that plays all the classic country music. You can listen online @KKYX.com

  • @MrGalvan44 wow! That's so awesome! I will definitely be listening when I can!

  • poohski2012, You've got that right!!!

  • @poohski2012 KWMT, Fort Dodge, IA. Especially Saturday morning. Find 'em on line! Tell Dale Fritz sent you.

  • @poohski2012 You're right even the sattelite stations all play the same old top forty crap. I heard this playing in Cabelas Hunting store in Maine and thought " Jesus I miss this music" they are trying to shove garbage like rascal fags and brad parsley on us. Where is the next Merle Haggard or Johnny Cash? Most of the guys on the Opry now have less balls than Minnie Pearl. Not you Trace Adkins, I don't want him hunting me down and kicking my ass.

  • @joeytwosubs I agree! I like some new country music, but most of it is more rock than anything. I hate that people say certain songs are country, when you can't even hear a steel guitar or fiddle in the mix. I wanna hear at least an acoustic if I'm gonna listen to country music. I hate that even country stations that claim to have the "most variety" don't really play any of the old stuff. The country station I listen to most, recently got rid of it's Saturday oldies show... Very upsetting...

  • @poohski2012

This song is playing at the moment on Highland Radio, great station

  • @poohski2012 sirius radio: "outlaw country #61 and Willie's Roadhouse #59. Get it, listen, like.

  • What year was this?

  • a dinosaur victrola is listening to buck owens.

    this

    song

    is

    really

    good ;)

  • sweet

  • It sure as hell is Buck!

  • REAL country music, performed by REAL musicians. Unlike today's Cowboy hat-wearing celebrity posers who churn out Wal-Mart-mentality "music".

  • I really miss Don Rich !

  • I really miss Don Rich !

  • tulsa oklahoma is about as country as it gets and like most country boys i love country music and my country i served with the 101st airborne in vietnam and have seen men killed by rockets mortars and gunfire but the crulest thing i ever saw was done by a couple of doctors working in one of the largest hospitals in tulsa for more info please go to [ms bones 1950]a shallow grave

  • God bless Don and Buck. Got to see Buck at the Crystal Palace in '01 for $6.50. What an amazing deal. I'll never forget it. I was so lucky to be in Bakersfield that Saturday night.. He was great too. He did "Tiger By The Tail" and nailed Don's Solo. Also played "Fast As You" which he called aout the band as "That Dwight song". I'll alway feel lucky I was there that night. Makes me want to pick up one of my Tele's just thinking about it.

  • I'm a Rock'n'Roll kinda guy, but Dang this Honky Tonk is Good..

  • Great admirers of great music, the both of em. The Beatles did start out as the quarry men which was a skiffle band. Anywho, you can't have todays stuff without yesterday's and theres always a yesterday from which to draw upon.

    YaY!

  • @rubbersole. You really think the Beatles' music is "three chords music?" If you're a player (that comment makes me think you're not), sit down with those records (even the early ones), and you'll find out how wrong you are. Very few of the Beatles' tunes can be reduced to three chords. For that matter, there was plenty of Buck that went beyond that, too. This tune is a 3 chord one, though.

As for those guitar licks, they are known as Don Rich licks. The Beatles did cop them sometimes.

  • We'e Buck & Don Rich more then friends if you know what I mean ............?

  • sorry to tell ya, but they use autotune.

  • Don Rich was a fellow Washingtonian, and so I guess that he pretty much started my state's musical dominance, long before Heart, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Audioslave, and so on came about. Buck was also an awesome singer.

  • Either these guys stole some guitar licks from the Beatles or vice versa........

  • @rubbersole79

G'day, It's well known, Buck and Rich admired The Beatles ans vice versa. Paul McCartney himself once said B.O. was one of his greatest inspirations. They both had eachothers newest albums. So, who 'stole' whose, never will be said. Both music is in fact very basic: -three cords music-, Buck's music kept his music always strickly Country, never went 'Pop' . So, it's more the fact, they liked eachother as they copied.

    Have a nice day.

  • @renger29 If you think The Beatles played three chord music, then you must be deaf.

Put on "She Loves You", just for starters and count how many chords are in that song, if you are even capable of doing so.,

  • We saw Buck Owens in Las Vegas many, many years ago. Later that week, Don Rich drove up beside us in a little grey VW Bug. (: Such wonderful harmony. And such wonderful memories,

    ~OneKewpie~

  • why is Buck so funny looking up all the time. Is it because a couple of annoying spotlights may-be?

  • Country music cant get any better than this!

  • I don't even listen to country music, I'm 15 and this is better than everything on pop radio today.

I'm into rock and roll besides this.

  • Buck, it's been almost five years since you left us, and the world's just not the same without you. RIP to you and to Don. Damn, I miss your presence.

  • Buck and Don - Real Talent!

  • I think I saw that guitar player in a porno I was watching recently.

  • @Savorist hes been dead since the 70s grow up

  • @Savorist Ditto to sunny Dj2. "That" guitar player was Don Rich and he and Buck were forerunners to the Austin sound. He died at an early age in a tragic motorcycle crash.

  • Great and vintage post. Thanks for sharing this treasure.

  • i will forever thank the movie crazy heart for introducing me to this greatness

  • A #1 hit for Buck Owens on the Country & Western charts. It was his 2nd #1 C&W hit and the 70th #1 C&W song in the Rock Era.

  • Take note kiddies...THIS is the foundation...the REAL deal. Don Rich was Buck's other half.

  • well, i reckon that dislike is a typo. i hate it when that happens

  • my Amish cousin used to sneak into our house when we were out so he could watch Buck Owens on TV

  • REal country music! Not bullshit from Tim McGraw and his talentless ilk!

  • Who the Hell is givin' this masterpiece a "thumbs down"? Geez! Even an ol' punk rocker like me can see it for what it truly is: an all-time classic!

  • from 0:46 rich is happy and from then till 0:49 hes like oh wel forget all yall audience lmao awesome classic and rich looks like my geometry professor

  • whats on the ceiling?

  • Watched these guys when I was a kid. Mid 60's on Ch. 11 here in Dallas.* Buck, by the way, is the one with the 12 String accoustic.... Replying to the comment below*..

  • Nothing beats classic twang.

  • 19 years old, proud to say i'm a HUGE fan of the classics! Buck, Merle, Waylon, Cash, Conway, Loretta, Patsy. Fuck all the shit the record companies spew out of their corporate asses like diareha!

  • great song, but wat the heck is going on with bucks tie lol

  • Don with a 12 string??? Where's the Tele?

  • Buck and Dangerous Don. What more could you ask for?

  • Makes me smile!

  • The only thing better than Don Rich and his Telecaster is Don Rich and his fiddle.

  • 7 people voted thumbs down on this video !!!!! WTF ??????

    You gotta be kidding---GREAT video.

  • @iloveyouemily Yea, Must be 7 ####heads on here. Great music.

  • I was in the Navy and in Viet Nam when Buck was really getting big in the 60's. I remember chipping paint on the weather decks when suddenly we would stop the hammers and start singing some of his songs. But not as good as Buck and Don !! LOL

  • Buck and Don FTW!!!

  • Don Rich es Dios!

  • i was born that year these guys were the best..I grew up with this music....

  • Don Rich: The Master of The Telecaster!

  • how handsome

  • What great talent. And you can tell they had a great time & loved what they were doing. It wasn't work, it was all play. We should all have jobs we love this much ! Long live Buck & Don.

  • cool

  • I have encountered several guitar players in the past who wanted nothing to do with my telecaster. They had, well just bigger fingers than me and the puny narrow neck on the tele drove them nuts. Oh they hated it. But Don didn't seen to mind. His fingers were a bit fat but very long. Just a technical observation there. I still miss him. Sure had an influence on me from so long ago.

  • Love Don Rich's smile. If I was with Buck making great music like this, I'd be smiling too.

  • Just adore Don Rich with his high voice and that twangy guitar sound. Buck Owens fell apart as an artist after Dons death

  • Don Rich!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, love to see a Don Rich solo live. I don't think Buck ever recovered fully from his loss. He made those 2 Warner Bros records that were pretty good, but this is magic.

  • loved every minute of it

  • my dads favorite song.nobody like Don Rich.

I have a stuffed tiger buck gave my aunt...

  • my dads favorite song.nobody like Don Rich.

  • I'm thinking this is Buck's best song. Used to lean towards "Under Your Spell Again", now leaning towards this'n...

  • You're gonna be my girl, you cute little kitten, 'cause loves gonna live here! Yeah!!

  • Comment removed

  • Some suit Buck!

  • BAD ASS GOOD

  • Grrreat!

1960's, nashville poured out pop but bakersfield rocked!!!

  • Long live the country sounds of Buck and his band.

  • Who the heck are the 5 people who didn't like this...I wanna know. Must been lookin for butt insted of buck fu*#*ng. Kindda sick, yeah. Just trying to formulate a reason WHY?????

    Help appriciated here...

  • That is so effing great.

  • Don Rich on harmony and the Telecaster was the driving force of the "Buckaroos"

  • @huskernloper yeah dude, spot on. I love don. I remember seeing the buck owens song and always thinking "man who is this guy on the tele, he's awesome" buck was shattered when he got killed on his way home from the studio on his motorbike. he said, in a way his career and love of music died with don.

  • oh the memories and all the honky tonks,,

  • There's still a few of us Country folks around. We haven't all been "Urbanized" yet! And as long as I'm around there still be at least one guy out there playin&singing this type of Country music!

  • Don Rich was a "BEAST" on that tele'.... Rest in peace Don, and Buck. Those days will never be again.

  • Buck was never quite the same after his lead guitar player, pictured here, died in a car crash,

  • @watkins0037 passed away in a motorcycle crash.......R.I.P. Don

  • @brighton4410 It kinda took the heart outta Buck to when that happened. It' was a very sad day for Country music!

  • this is so historical

    Frans

  • DON RICH RULES!!!!

  • this beautiful music will never be played again the stuff today sucks compared to this.may they rest in peace(buck and don) don't know if the rest are still alive.???anyone know why buck was always staring up when he sang live on T.V

  • Looks like 5 people missed the Like button~

  • im related to Buck Owens

  • @wtfisit25 i WISH I was related to buck....musically i am his offspring!

  • It's either the way the camera is capturing the lighting or else ol' Don has wore the damn fret board down on that ol 'Tele. 0:46 You tell ME guys haha

  • If anyone is interested, a new Buck Owens biography has been released. It paints an accurate picture of Buck according to those who were closest to him and to put it plainly, it ain't pretty, but it's the truth. It's called "Buck Owens: The Biography" by Eileen Sisk. There hasn't been a lot of hype about it but I figured a lot of us Buck fans would wanna know.

  • Don Rich, one of the great unsung heroes of country music. The Buckaroos were amazing.

  • you said it richardson new country anit country to me

  • the buckaroos and the strangers were the 2 best backup bands of alltime.

  • @99sco i agree 1,ooo% !

  • To Nashville (NY & L.A.) Corporate Asshats, listen up: California is an important part of country. So is Texas. I know all you want is money... but the people want quality songs and playing too. This is what the people respond to. You're just scared because when music is too good it funnels all the money into one place. You "executives" prefer mediocre music as a better business model... more money, spread around. You're killing us with crap. I'm glad record companies are dying.

  • @jensenbell I'm trying to do something about it.

If there's losy country music out there, it's all my fault! I must write better songs. Let me know what you think.

    Debby

  • this is the prototypical 'honky tonk' music that millions enjoyed in the 1960's, especially the boys and girls down south.

  • This is the the country music of America!

  • This is real country. So called country today is crap.

  • @NashvilleBill You're damn right about that my friend! Now this is what I call country music!

  • I just discovered this band and I'm loving it. coming from a 23 year old this is better than anything they play on modern country radio.

  • @tgmod You want award for having decent taste in music? Whatever kid.

  • @tgmod This seems to be an emerging thing. I swear I was in a cryogenic lab until 1987 when people tell me I was born.

  • @tgmod please stay on the right track!

  • buck was a badass

  • Mister Don Rich on Telecaster and awesome harmonies. Today these guys would be known as Owens and Rich, much as we say "Brooks and Dunn".. Please go to Wikipedia and read about Mister Don RIch - A country music legend.

  • Why does buck keep looking up. He looks a little messed up

  • @georgejones93 To me that's just his way of looking up to the sun that's gonna shine again......like he sings about.

  • @georgejones93 Wondering the same thing

  • What a Legend.. Great video..

  • No one can or will ever equal these performances, but it is still possible to play real country music... I hope. I still play it every night. I hope that someday someone will recognize us and do this much needed genre justice.

  • Guys, I'm thinking this is Pre-1964. They got Gold Sparkle Teles in 1964. Here Don is still playing Buck's 1951 "No Caster". They got their silver sparkle Teles in 1967.

  • I love this type of country music.....seems like the so called country of today sounds so.....commercial and mainstream.

  • play all

  • Buck Owens is still one of the greatest ever..priod.

  • Nashville, figure it out, this is what it should be, not soft rock with a forced twang!

  • My Dad and Buck had a radio and television show in Tacoma Washington for a while until Buck decided to move to Bakersville California. Dad stayed behind here in Seattle and we helped form the Folklife festival with music from all over the world Dad and Buck remained friends.

  • Here's to Don Rich the man who sold a million Telecaster Fender guitars over

    the last 45 years !

  • Didn't he die in a motorcycle accident?

  • @djaxxx51 Yeah in 1974. Darn near killed Buck. He lost interest when he lost Don.

  • i don't know about you guys, but seeing those two together brings a smile to my face.

  • @scottnsuzs That's funny!! I was just thinking the same thing, then I scrolled down to the comments & found someone else caught themself smiling too!!

  • @scottnsuzs Oh Yeah Could Listen To This Allday!

  • WHAT GREAT MUSIC!!!!!!!

  • This was my wife and my favorite song when we first got married

  • Like David Alan Coe said, "If That Ain't Country, I'll Kiss Your Ass".

  • True Americana!!

  • Great song but notice Don is kiddingly shooting everyone "The bird" at 0:43. I'm a musician and know that this chord can be made by not "shooting the bird" so obviously. Really kind of funny...I love Buck!

  • LOL. Notice how they are looking around and smiling. Buck at first keeps looking up when he's sings 'the sun is going to shine'. It's obvious someone off camera is messing with them.

  • Lots of guitar players do that, e.g. Clapton. I've noticed the same from Don Rich on some of the other videos. I'm sure it's nothing personal.

  • Comment removed

  • More should be done to Honor Buck & Don's Memory. They are the TRUE AMERICAN STORY!

  • buck owens and don rich are the greatest.

  • good song i love buck so sad he die all the good one have to die

  • I remember this song from when i was a little girl my dad used to call my mom LOVES and one day my mom never came back from her condition and she was admitted into a mental hospital when i was 4 she doesnt know who we are but my dad would listen to this song with sadness like it was written just for him - and that maybe his loves would come back but she never did =( thanks to buck owens for recording this song!!! It gave us enough hope to get through the hard times.

  • Look how worn that tele neck is and this is '66!

  • This is actually only 1964. Buck Owens and His Buckaroos appeared on the Jimmy Dean Show on April 23, 1964.

  • @lerb21 then even more so, look how worn that neck is for a 1964!

  • @CodyCEngdahl

Like I said, played hard and loved good. (well)

  • @CodyCEngdahl

    Played hard and loved good.

  • Help!!!! we want country music back from New York and its bleach blonde marketing projects... HARMONY and ACTUAL GUITAR PLAYING IS MISSED.. Where's Wayne Hayes and Travis??

  • If you like this sound check out "The Derailers". It's a shame stuff like this doesn't get on the radio anymore.

  • Yes very familiar with Tommy and the other guys - great group, just haven't heard from them in a while. Thanks

  • great tune......how can you not like two good ole boys like this who can play their butts off and have a great sense of timing. Good stuff.

  • you could give don rich any guitar, and he'll make it sound good.
