  • Once you pair the remote to the camera can it still be operated by another remote that isn't paired with it? I thought the point of using the pair feature was to keep another remote from operating your camera. Thanks for the great video, it makes this simple camera even easier to operate.

  • Glad I came across this video...My drift should be coming in the mail in the next few days so this will be very helpful

  • I seen a video when downshift83 had his drift cam on the left side of his camera. did he have to the camera to wear the screen would be facing his helmet to get it to show right instead of it showing upside down?

  • Hey, I just bought this camera some time ago, and it works really well. The only problem is that this is what happens when I record at 720p 60fps/50fps: The image becomes purple-ish. In 720p 30/25fps and in 1080p it works great. I'm not sure if it is a defect in the camera or if this has happened to other people with this/a camera and if it's fixable. Can you/anyone tell me more about this? Please check out my video to see what I'm talking about.

  • @vanssk8hi ....do you have the latest firmware update from their website??

  • Great tips!

I find it most difficult to record indoors in the evening, the quality is "always" grainy..

Which settings would you recommend for recording indoors, at dusk and evening environments? (not pitch black night)

Will 720p 30fps be OK, or would you recommend that I use other settings?

How about "exposure" ? Is that only for still pictures?

Other tips regarding settings during recording?

    Thanks!

  • @FrodeNo .....yeah the video is "grainy" if there is not a lot of artificial light around to help the camera. I think they intended it to be used in areas with lots of street lights, lights on buildings etc.... and not really for a single light bulb indoors. I assume you are using "night-mode"?

Shouldn't matter if it's in 30fps/60fps ...I use 720p 60fps in night-mode but I always try to film in areas that have lots of artificial light.

Exposure is for video as well....

  • @DarkFlightVlogs

    Thanks

Yes, I'm using "night-mode", but I'm not satisfied with the quality of the shots.

With enough artificial lighting, it's ok, but as soon as there's lack of such.. well..

I've tried the different "exposures".. but can't see any difference.

Will + or - be better in low lighting?

    I appreciate your input!

    Thanks!

  • @FrodeNo ....(+) is for dusk and darker environments, where as (-) is for bright conditions like sunlight on snow.

  • @FrodeNo ....also check out one of my latest videos where I compare the new Drift HD against the Stealth at night. It's all raw footage and you can see my video is "grainy" as well when in darker areas but gets clear when under the street lights etc...

  • great vid man just got myself the drift not having a main manual seem's mad basic's is just that very basic lol but what a cool camera keep up the great work Dave UK

  • also if have the camera setup to shut off mode after 20 mins, will it shut off while recording when it hit 20 mins?

  • @MetalPlatedHand ...not 100% but I don't think so.

Set it up for camera off 5 minutes and test it out just to be sure.

  • hey i received my drift hd170 stealth with an extra long life battery, was wonder if the batter must be completely used up in order to recharge? and how do i recharge it? and how long does it take to recharge?

    thanks

  • @MetalPlatedHand .....No the battery does not have to be fully used in order to recharge but I think it's recommended for increased battery life. Just plug it in to your computer with the supplied USB cable to charge it. There is a blue light that comes on when it's charging. 1-2 hours MAX. to charge it

  • DarkFlight: Can (1) remote be paired to 2 or 3 cameras at once. I guess the better way of asking would be: Can I control multiple cameras (my cameras) at once? Thank you for all your videos Bro. Stay warm, its 60* here in Dallas/FtWorth. LOL

  • @Ghostrydr1972 ....yes you can control multiple cameras with the remote.

  • given you have a charged battery (extended) how many hours of film can your memory card hold?

  • @superjoint23 ....I think it depends on what class memory card you have and the manufacturer, but my 16gig (class 10) card holds roughly 3 - 3.5 hours of footage if I remember correctly.

  • @DarkFlightVlogs thanks man, keep up the good work, love your videos and you should know these question are in reference to the new camera im about to buy. Inspired by you , wildbill, rokkit, and others. keep the wheels down and speed up

  • @superjoint23 no squidding, lol

  • I just bought one of these, and I'm very glad to see your clear and helpful video here. Thank you!

  • @bywayz ....no problem, thanks for watching.

  • how long a continues video we can record with HD170?

    please help...

  • @youorratube .....depends on what size battery you have (regular or extended life). The extended life battery gives around 3 - 3.5 hours of recording time if I remember correctly.

  • very helpful. thanks for the vid

  • @crazymoptop48 ...thanks 4 watching !

  • Just a simple THANKS for posting this info for the noob's to the HD170

  • @EZRIDER327 ....no problem :)

  • cheers xD

  • can you link more then one camera to one remote ?

  • @MrBigtower ...yes you can, I have 2 paired to my remote.

  • thanks lol My drift will be delivered tomorrow lol

hopefully i can record some ridings before snow lol

  • Please i need help, the adhesive tape for the helmet mount is not very good, its become tears and so on...

  • @HaloChiefReach ...really? did you take it off and put it on again?

are you talking about the supplied velcro that came with the camera?

This is very hard to believe, it was so strong i had to use a hair dryer to get it off my old helmet, and it still worked on my new one ( I don't recommend that by the way just sayin')

Something doesn't seem right with what your saying because that stuff is AMAZING.

Did you get it wet or was the helmet dirty or oily? I don't see how that's possible?

  • @DarkFlightVlogs

i mean that the tape become tears because im taking it off and put it on again..is it for one use only?I thought that you can use it again and again?yeah i talk abaout the velcro

  • thanks a bunch :)

  • Nice informative video. Thanks for taking the time to do it. Much appreciated.

  • Do you know why mine says that it hasn't charged?.... And how long does it take to charge?

  • @GamezAndMoree ..it says that it hasn't charged?? Never heard of that. It doesn't take that long to charge, the regular battery charges in a hour or two and the extended life battery takes around 3 hours I think. When you plug it in does the light turn blue?? If it's not blue it's NOT charging. Hope this helps.

  • @DarkFlightVlogs Thank you yeah was having a dumb moment... Check my channel theres so gokarting videos using it!

  • @GamezAndMoree Are you using the extended life battery. I had some problems with this at first and actually returned the cam for an exchange. I figured out that the ExLife battery didnt seat all the way and would rattle loose. I solved it by putting a small piece if electrical tape on the back of the battery where it meets the locking clip, making it a little tighter fit. No problems since then.

  • The new version of that program supports .mov files!! Looks like a good program to use.

  • @phatstang98 ..yeah it's alright but far from the best...

  • What software do you use to edit your videos, Im going to be purchasing a Drift soon.

  • @phatstang98 ...I use a program called "Magix Movie Edit Pro16HD" but I have to convert the raw files first for it to work in that program. Your probably better off finding a program that works with (.mov) files since that's what the Drift records in.

  • I still gotta get me a damn Stealth :D lol .. with the extra parts for my bike and family it's hard to safe some money :D lol .. plus i spend it so fast for nonesense stuff :D

  • Thanks for uploading this tut, I'm sure many will find it helpful.

My Stealth is to be delivered within 12-14 hours.

    I can't wait! =)

  • @Yakbreeder ...no problem :)

    Enjoy your Drift :)

  • @DarkFlightVlogs

Thanks DF, I got it a day later than I anticipated, better late than never right? lol

Now to do some serious tweaking to get my settings just right.

    Thanks again,

    Yak

  • Good to know, I will eventually get the Drift HD, for the moment I'm still moding the Contour.

  • @gogosor ....have you seen the new contourHD??

  • @DarkFlightVlogs Yep, the Contour+ But honestly I am more interested in the next gen Drift HD.

  • @gogosor ....yes the Contour+ sorry (my bad)

Anyway I've also heard of a next gen. Drift, I assume this is not the Stealth then is it??

What have you heard and have you got any links to provide??

I've seen pictures where they have blurred out images of the camera....seems very top secret.

  • @DarkFlightVlogs Nothing solid yet, but once it is out, the price of the Contour+ will drop, probably make a decision then.

  • i had to stop video cause your a mac. lol jk love the vids man post something new already will ya

  • @GOOBTUBE1 ...I'm NOT a mac I'm a PC.....I just got a white keyboard....lol.

  • ok this is going to sound like a really dumb question but what is firm ware?

  • @WildBill1006 ...FIRMWARE is a file that gives an update for your camera. You download it, put it on your Drift and then update it. It helps to fix problems and glitches as they are discovered and fixes become available.

  • Great video ! I am thinking of getting a Drift, and the more Moto Vlogs I watch the more I want one. You are right showing how to do stuff visually beats reading a manual :-) Stay safe and Ride hard !

  • @cwizard03 .....thanks very much !!

  • Wish I could learn from this video. Hopefully someday it will. LOL.

  • @rynoride .....lol. Your camera is just fine dude !!

  • nice! getting this camera next week, helpful tutorial, thanks

  • I realize now what I did. I didn't press record on the remote when pairing. All is perfect now!

  • @dafobra ...all right buddy then this video has already met it's goal by helping one person....mission accomplished :)

  • thanks for this video.. I just did the firmware update.. and funny thing.. it reset many of my settings.. the weirdest thing is that it now shows that remote pairing is 'off'.. even when I try to turn it on it wont change from the red "x". It was paired before... the remote still works but it isnt paired anymore.. My Drift is brand new... had 2.0.15 on it... maybe I will call them...

  • Nice video, one thing I love about your vids is the clear, easy to understand instructions !!

Slightly off topic... I forgot which camera you had before the Drift but how would you rate the Drift out of 10 for:

    Ease of use/setup

    Value for money

    Accessory Cost

    Accessory Range

    Thanks in advance dude :)

  • @BlackFlag94 ....my previous camera was a Canon Powershot 780is digital camera with 720p video capabilities.

Ease of use - 10/10 ( this camera was made for people who are technologically impaired)

Value for money - 9/10 (you can get the camera and ALL accessories in a bundle for $400-$450 USD range)

Accessory cost - 8/10 (but you can buy them all in a bundle 10/10)

Accessory Range - 9/10 (it pretty much has it all available, including a new waterproof case for long submersing)
