Another good idea is leave the kick stand down. It helps when you are first learning how to start the XT. When all else fails, just hold the throttle wide open, works everytime.
Well, just when he got to the good part about where to set the crank with the compression release, the wind took over. That's kinda the inportant part, you know. Please re-record it inside your garage or something!
Its like my royal enfield used to be. Feel for compression with the kicker, pull in the decomp and bump it past TDC, let go of decomp, then you can kick it with your hand and start it using flywheel momentum. The trick is to have the bike tuned up and running well. TT and XT are prone to stock carb. issues.
What on earth did the bloke say? I only heard wind in the mic.

Or upgrade the manually decompression for an automatic . It's only a few bucks and you will save that much on Ibuprofen .

I've got a high compression piston and dellorto pumper carb. i wish it was as simple to start as yours. But when it starts what fun it is.

If I remember correctly, you can feel the decompression lever rise slightly under your fingers when it's at the right point..
