  • do the new makos have pins? i dont see any on the ones they are selling now

  • around where i live, in a very redneck place, this is what all guys carry, old traditional knives, nothing beats em. hell, i carry a 110 quite often.

  • I have the buck 112 (no finger groove) and I absolutely love it, very sturdy and very sharp :)

  • My dad found a Case Mako with a rubberized center grip a while back. He works in Construction and has found lots of decent stuff. He even found a couple of Golf putters worth probably around $100 for both. (When he was working on the pipelines for a McFarlane Golf Course). Anyways that Mako is the best knife ive ever used. Not to mention Sharpest and sturdiest. Cuts a 3/4 inch rounded rope in one pull. Dont have to go back and forth. He misplaced it once and got all sad, couldnt blame him. Coup

  • I have the case mako love the knife prolly the best shot gunning beer knife pops holes in cans so smoothly haha

  • You need to polish that brass out

  • me and my friend from the town over collect folding hunter designed knives, chinas, and stuf like that but he's got 2 bear hunters and an opening year110 and I've gota schrade lb7 from 89 and a 112. we'll get hemm all together and see how many we got. together we've gotten 20 different models and were still finding others

  • In reference to American made; I'm from the UK and I have to say I do trust you Yanks with manufacturing!

  • @thefierce123 We used to make stuff way better. Everything was built to last 50+ years. The Buck knife is one of those things.

  • i love the mako but i have to say that the buck 112 is built a little sturdier in my opinion.

  • i got mine for 5dollars at a flea market

*the flea market here sells a lot of old stuff)

  • just to confirm, the 112 is bigger than the 110. Right?

  • @TedOfNod no. 110 is larger. 112 has a 3 inch blade, 110 has a 3.75 inch blade.

  • @dilbertfungoing cutlery went over it heaps, ted was joking

  • i am 14 and i happen to edc a 110 and a 112 and i never had a problem

  • In the Navy around 1978, we used these lockback knives heavily. I bought a Case Sharkstooth at the Navy Exchange. Most of the guys had the Buck with a marlin spike. Mine was stolen, wish I'd replaced it. We cut and pryed with our knives,, and can't recall anyone breaking their knife!

  • just got my 110 at walmart for 30 bucks with a nuce nylon sheath. so far im loving it. the package said the most coppied knife

  • hey, like your vids,i just bought a buck 110,thought i'd go back to a proper knife design and construction, got tired of tightening andshredding hex/alan screws, even on some of the more expensive knives, and wanted to say i'm from the uk and iwould definately buyany tool with usa on it,and there was once a time when you could buy tools/knives with made in england on them...now its, made in china.bring back home grown industry,usa/uk shoulder to shoulder.great vids mate.

  • I have five factory sheaths with snap clousers for the knives you have, if inter. in buying I'll sell them all cheap...Thanks

  • which do you prefer?

  • my dad has a 105 and a 110, the 110 I've sharpened countless times and i had to grind out a new point on it before when i reprofiled the edge. Do you know what kind of steel they use?

  • @slapthatmech they use 420hc steel. nit a huge turn on for me, but ive had mine for ten years and had absolutely zero problems

  • @slapthatmech 420 the package on my new one says

  • I think about getrimd a case or buck for buck a cadet and/or mini folding hunter (and I think the last) and case a folding gut hook or some thing

  • hehe, love the video because of the 'tactical' stuff

  • i got a knife that looks like them but its the Puma company from Germany

  • Hi Jeff, I have a Buck 112 and love it, I have had it for a very long time, birthday present from my wife some 15 years ago I would guess. Did your 112 come with a nylon sheath?

  • @artemerysr My 112 came with leather sheath,

    Regards from Cancun,

  • I do not think Camillus was ever in Canada. Always been New York.

  • Check out my website for the best kydex sheath you can reasonably buy. I do ALL my work without electric tools, if you buy now you get a free add-on (a ten dollar value)

Iv'e got discounts for double orders and reviews.

I do not make my living off of this so i can assure great prices, and i've got all the time in the world for your sheath.

I upload videos to youtube.com with the detailed steps in making YOUR sheath, not someone else's.

    hallcs.webs.com hallcs.webs.com. You deserve one.

  • i love that buck 110 is made in the usa. im from new zealand and i hate how most things / every thing comes from china. im buying a buck 110 for the first time this weekend been saving up ^^. good video man.

  • After the Bowie, the Buck 110 is the greatest American designed Knife contribution to the world.

  • my dad has had his buck 110 and another huge buck since the 80's and 90's... still razor sharp and made in usa of course! great choice as a tradtitional knife to have...

  • i used to have that buck.... the tip broke while i was trying to carve a piece of wood

  • @TheMarker902 actually i had the 110

  • in canada its not "tid bit" its "tim bits"

  • I have been becoming more fond of traditional knives, and I'm learning to respect my roots. However, I honestly have to say I like the newer, "tactical" designs much better. To me they're not so much tactical, just much more practical and useful. One handed opening is very useful in a defensive situation (Which, albeit rare, can very well happen). Also many traditional blades still use very soft steels which I don't understand. That being said I just ordered a Buck 55 :)

  • i have the mako. my grandpa used to work for dresser rand so it has their logo on it, but it is an original mako. it is in rough shape with stains on the metal handleand the very tip is broken off (very tiny, from about a foot away it looks perfect but up close the very very tip is broken) any idea how to repair it?

  • do you have any of the buck auto's?... the 110 or 112.... love to here your thoughts on those.... i personaly would like to get a 112 ranger auto

  • How would you compare the edge retention and sharpeness of each? Curious, as I'm thinking about buying one of the two. I just lost my Caly3, and won't be replacing it, as I did find the Caly3 a little on the light duty side of things, as beautiful as they are.

  • are there any knives that are a traditional style or look but with one hand opening and/or lock? Please respond

  • @ltm7575 I have a custom buck 110 that has been converted to a switchblade.

  • @PooleeMaunder damn thats crazy. you should make a video on it.

  • @ltm7575 Im in california. the cops would track my ip and arrest me, othewise i would.

  • @PooleeMaunder ha o alright, damn i wanna know how to make one

  • @ltm7575 where do you live. I mite no a few people who could help you

  • @PooleeMaunder long island, new york

  • @ltm7575 oh. Switchblades are not allowed in new york. thats state and federal law

  • YES! lol i have the Buck Ranger Knife and love it! actually i got it wen i was about 11 and still have it:)

  • When I was about 9 years old, I broked the blade of my dads 110 :(

  • no brand name on it .. it doesnt say anything on it put yes it is pin construction

  • you didn't mention the buck 111

  • nice video do u no how u wud take the top knife apart i hav something similar

  • It's a pin construction you can't take it apart but depending on the brand you can get it fixed for free what's the brand?

  • i got a case mako on ebay for 17 dollars. IM LOVING IT

  • it's awesome huh I just did a review on mine it should be up soon

  • i got my mako but it's one from the 70's when they first made this knife so im really happy bout that and its an exellent knife

  • a guy gave me a Kershaw 1050 0ld model in perfect condition just because of a comment over lunch that i collect knives !!!!

  • Awesome I had one of those they are awesome flat ground blades I loved it but I sold it and I regret it maybe I'll buy a new one I just got a Case Mako because of Cutlerlover's video here You will really love to enjoy that 1050 awesome knife

  • my dad gave me his buck 112..it is so beat up but still sharp! hard to believe but i still use it alot.

  • just ordered the buck 112 im gonna pass it along to my kid when i have em

  • Thanks for the vid. I bought a Buck 112 a few months ago and was disappointed with the back and forth wobble in the blade when it is locked. I do like the steel a lot though, because it is easy to get very very sharp. Good thing about Buck knives is I could probably sell it on eBay for more than I bought it for with some good photos.....

  • I found an old case mako a few years ago....

but it was old and rusty and the tip of the blade was broken off... really sad.

  • I'll buy it off you name a price

  • hey do you still have the buck 112????

  • i love the kershaw black gulch. its a traditional design but it has abs inlays instead of wood and looks a bit more modern.there is also a bigger version, the wildcat ridge, and a smaller model, the grant county. all three are identical in materials, style etc. except for size.

  • 5 buks for a pak of cigs lol

  • I bought my Buck 112 in 1975 from a buddy who needed cash. I paid 10 bucks for it. The sheath is ling worn out, but the knife is as good as ever. Mine only has 3 pins going through the handle... Is this something odd? I don't know much about collecting, but it has sure been a great knife over the years!

  • great vid minus the awkward back peddling ramble near the end

  • Should I get the 55 model or the 112?

they look the same except for the handles

  • 112 is bigger and the 55 is a little smaller

  • my pops bought a german steal stag handle knife for 5 bucks.......turns out its worth more like 1200.00

  • I bought my Buck 112 Ranger back in the summer of 1982 for $30.

    Wow, 27 years ago.

I still have it and just gave it to my son today. He has admired it for quite some time now, and now he can enjoy it as I have.

  • im gonna get my grandpa a buck 105 woodsman for christmas.

  • My dad has a "G96" which is the jap. version of the 110 from the 70s!

  • A good mate of mine bought me the Buck Ranger 112 for my 21st birthday. Awesome gift and it will be with me until I'm a grey old man if Buck knives have shown us anything in the past.

  • does anyone know the price on the case mako with a leather sheath included in that price

  • Check Shepherd Hills Cutlery or eBay for some new ones around $60.

  • Bought mine for $60 includung sheath at a sports show .

  • do you have a PUMA GAME WARDEN KNIFE??

  • i bought a buck 110, 112 and a ka-bar lockback all for 20 dollars at a church garage sale. they are all really old but it was a good deal.

  • Comment removed

  • My first knife was a buck ranger, i think it is a great knife, only my model has finger grooves

  • my first knife was given to me from my dad, 20 some od years ago. A case(hot lix) i think was the model name. Looks like the buck gent folder. He recently got promoted to fire chief and doesnt like to carry his 511First Responder anymore. I was happy to give this knife back to him, minus alot of the blade stock.

  • Thanks a lot to all!!!!!!!

  • I've had a 112 for 10 years. Thanks for the 411 on it.

  • you know i think ill buy my 59 year old father a case mako he had 1 do think its a good idea?

  • 2:44 one of your rivets of the bottom knife looks loose

  • Hi people....I have a Buck similar to the 112 model....but on the blade is written "Buck 432 U.S.A"...i've searched on internet but i haven't find notices about this model.....Can someone help me?? (sorry for my english)

    Cheers from Italy!!

  • 432 is the type of steel grade

  • like st4leave sed its a blade steel quality hang on to it or make a video to let me see it if you dont mind

  • The BUCK 432 is just a 112 that was a special run done in 1983 for the Goodyear tire company. Most have initials on the rear bolster. Hope this helps

  • my dad had a buck knife and today he went out and bought me a buck 110

  • awesome do you like it so far?

  • I have a Schrade old timer lock back (lb7)

that looks like your buck.I will put it on in the morning,BEFORE I even put on my eye glass LOL

  • I bought a boker one, and the steel was good but thats it and now I still use my 112 ranger

  • i got that buck... its a sweet knife

  • in my opinion the best knives are from gremany, then canada (i live in canada) then yes the u.s have pretty strong knives

  • Canada huh, woudl you happen to know any knife companies located in canada? Becasue I dont, lol...Im will agree Germany is up there, as well as the US, I wodul also place seki, Japan on the list as well...

  • Yeah u should check out the vid of my pocketknife in the U.S its pretty good but the lock hurts the tip of your finger

  • @cutlerylover I know a company that makes fixed blades, its called Gorhmann and It's Canadian. Check it out.

  • @cutlerylover lots of kinda locals

  • @cutlerylover

    Camillus resided in Canada IIRC.

  • @cutlerylover wiltshire is in canada make really nice self sharpening cases they are kitchen knives but still are good

  • You have to be kidding. Maybe Germany reigns supreme for kitchen knives but for folding knives the USA has Chris Reeve Knives, Strider, Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw, etc. Boker can't compare to Benchmade or Chris Reeve.

  • canada dont have very many brands but what they do there the besst

  • @mongomondomongo neh esgibt doch dieses ganze sollingen zeug das damast zeug das böker zeug es gibt doch viel

  • @mongomondomongo they dont even reign for kitchen knives, I have buck kitchen knives and they are awesome! and for top grade chef knives I'd rather the stuff Japan is putting out.

  • @mongomondomongo But, Boker is not the only German brand.

Puma Knives is a high quality knifemaking company.

  • @mongomondomongo benchmade sucks

  • @chrissept21 Id agree that german knives are great and im not sure about canada because i dont own any, but ill tell you also that spanish made knives are knife too

  • @chrissept21 I would say Japan, Germany, USA, and Italy. I have never heard of Canada.. hehehe. But I am sure there are tons of good knifes around the world. Its depend on how hard marketing department is working.

  • @chrissept21

though I am a Canadian patriot...I have to say I think knives from the USA are as good as we can get in a non custom arena..I do wish that we had any substantial knife companies here but we don't.

  • @chrissept21 I'm Canadian, but I don't know of any Canadian production knives. I know of some good Canadian custom knife makers, but no production companies.

  • @chrissept21 hey you forgot Switzerland :P

i love the new soldier knife from victorinox it's jsut an awesome every day knife

  • @chrissept21

I wish we had good knife companies (or any) up here in Canada, I know we have some great custom knife makers up here though.

  • @TheHellBound666

Well theres grohmann knives , and thats about the best we have

  • @chrissept21

true! forgot about those guys. They have some nice knives. It would be nice to have a canadian version of case or buck though, makes you wonder why nobody has done it yet, it's not like we don't have the knife making talent up here, and i know a lot of people who would not buy from the states if they had a canadian source.

  • @chrissept21 Canada? You can't be serious.

  • theres a buck 55 and its smaller

  • Uts harder to make folders, more production steps...alot more parts...

  • yes your right Buck has a custom shop where you cna get some options as to what you want, as for knwojg about new zealand, lol, I watch alot of comedy and there is a comic duo from new zealand that I love, lol...they go by the name "flight of the conchords"

  • i have a buck 110 and its my favorite knife out of all my pocket knives everyone who sees it says it cool and everyone who holds it says its heavy i wouldnt trade it for anything , i appreciate that you made this video for it. and for everyone who says there not good and say that the tip broke off or something"quit throwing it at stuff" its not a ninja star

  • I bought a Case Mako and broke the blade locking bar just at the blade lock I was chopping on a limb for a fire when it busted over all though it is a good knife.

I found a Buck anniversary model while horse back on a dirt road with a broken tip. I redid the tip and still use the knife today.

    Both are good knives.

  • how much does the case mako cost? i like it

  • case cost? grat vid 5/5!

  • i love clasic knives, i prefur them to "tactical" style, how mutch did the

  • cool

  • Very well presented video!! I own both of those knives and couldnt have put it better! Well done!

  • nice knives! i have the case XX-changer and love it!

  • how good are case's folding swiss army style knives?

  • you mean slipjoints? or non lockign folders usually multibladed versions...they are nice! Case is one of the most collected knife brands in the world! they make nice knives...other brands that surpass case but the prices show are queen cutlery as well as schatt and morgan slipjoints...

  • hey, i just got the buck 110 (because i wanted a bigger knife than the 112) and i love it! its a great, sturdy, reliable knife. i wanted to get the case mako too though, but im having a hard time finding it online... do u know where i could possible find one?

  • oh, never mind, i just found a ton of makos on google lol

  • lol, ok...

  • always a pleasure to watch a cutlerylover video, i usually catch my self shaking my headn and saying yeah you talking haha, i used to have that buck, i loved it

  • Thanks, yeah the Buck 110 (bigger han the 112 I have here) has got to be the most sold knife in america hands down...

  • no kidding man, knives like those are just so strong and well built, "but there to slow to open what if you get in a fight", being fast and useful is all the rage these days haha, people have all these knives from the 40s and so on cause they were made strong, i bet theres gonna be a gap of knives from our time cause they were so weak. my mom got my grandfather this knife for valentines day by the way

  • Nice! Actually about 5 years ago there was a shetah made for storing these buck knives that made them fast openign on the draw, there is a guy here on youtube, he has videos on all his customized buck 110's amazing knives! Anyway each video starts off with him taking the knife out of the sheath b4 he shows them, check it out!

    His account anme is "aguavidaknives"

  • yeah i saw one, i dont know if it was his, but yeah he pulled it out and it was open, i thought at first it was already open, but he folds it puts it back in and does it again. makes this a strong and fast draw knife haha

  • Its the sheath, yuou put the knife away slightly open and as you pull the knife out the shetah opens the blade the rest of the way, but its safe to carry and won't fall out, maybe you cna send himma message for more info on the sheath...I don't remember where they were sold or who made them sorry...

  • who leaves a good knife like that sitting on the ground!? thats crazy!

  • I dont know hahaha, it must have been lost or fell out of a pocket...

  • boy I bet that person felt terrible once they found out that they lost their mako.

  • Yeah, I swear if I knew who it was I would have given it back, but it had to be a contruction worker because it was in an area that recenty had back hoes that were workign on a water line...

  • thats good that you say that, not too many people around like that, icic, do you think that knife is made for construction work?

  • Not specifically, but its a just a good sturdy lockback, so it was Cases version of the Buck 112, probably the most popular knife ever! besides the victorinox swiss army knife...

  • the buck 110 i know in canada sells for 40$ in canada but idk about the 112

  • Thats not a bad price at all for a 110, about the same here in the US, are you saying its $40 in US currency?

  • GOOD JOB NICE VIDEO

  • Thanks!

  • i just bought a buck 112 for 15 bucks at the street fair...so im pretty happy :)

  • but now that i look on ebay and see them for 10 bucks im kinda sad :(

  • Ahh, very nice deal ya got there!

  • really? cool, n thanks

  • no problem...

  • if the mako had no sentimental value which one do you like more

  • The Buck, only because of the wider handle, makes for a beefier knife, and more comfortable to hold, but they are very similar in performance and feel...

  • my dad found our buck in the woods in Alaska back in the 70s

  • Thats really cool! I want to get a metal detector and scan around in the fields by my grandfathers and in the woods, I know they are kind of dorky, lol, but I don't care, I bet I can find some cool stuff!

  • 5 stars im gonna buy a 110 i want the case and i own the 112

  • im planning to buy a buck 110 how much do you think it is?

  • For the most part the 110 goes for around $35 each, but I did a quick google product search and saw that Kmart dot cxom has them for $26.99, which is great!

  • Oh, by the way that last one I couldn't remember is called the "shark tooth" This style lockback also comes in a blade changing version where you can change out the blade with different blades like a saw or plain edge blade with a guthook and so on...It's and interesting design...

  • 5 stars

    awesome vid as usual!

  • Thank you VERY much!!!
