  • Hey Endo this video was sick man I have a large Podcast following of 15:000 followers and the last 3 vids have taught me something awesome thank Take Care.....

  • I have the S2 and i'm not sure how to engage the snap feature. Can you help me out?

  • @Mnstr3nergy21 You can do it in the software by clicking on the S under the "Main" knob in the global section. You can also just map it to any button on the controller by yourself.

  • @Mnstr3nergy21 I also have an S2 and have mapped one of my loop in/out buttons to a shift function that engages the snap feature

  • I mean in loop recorder section :)

  • @ArtPitchBlack with the loop recorder set the input for the loop recorder to be "Aux" by clicking underneat the gain knob, then set your "Aux" input in the input routing section of the preferences.

  • anybody... I put my headphones to MIC like Endo did and I tried to record something in Quantize section and nohing - no sound even in speakers, nothing recorded. Something with settings, somebody help :)

  • @ArtPitchBlack You might have to set your Deck to be a Live Input and set your input routing up in Preferences - Input Routing

  • anybody know how i could record my mixes?

  • How does the S4 perform in a club setting? Sturdy enough?

  • @biancamatic Yes, as long as your computer meets the minimum requirements the S4 should work flawlessly in a club

  • How can I record a mix using traktor s4?

  • @DaOddWickedOne Macbook Pro

  • I clicked dislike by accident! doh!

  • Thanks, best introductory video for the Kontrol S4 I've seen so far.

  • DJ Endo,

What do you recommend trance Djs like myself to use, Traktor Kontrol S4 or DDJ-T1? Why?

    Cheers,

    DJ MBD

  • @specialcase1000 It all depends on your experience and preference. I prefer to use an analog (hardware) mixer such as a Pioneer DJM 900 or Allen & Heath Xone DB4 over traktors internal mixer (Traktor Kontrol S4), however for DJs who are just getting started and don't have the equipment already, the S4 is an amazing bang for your buck and using the controller is like having your hand inside the program, and its all you need to rock out with 4 decks + all the magic of Traktor on the go.

  • @specialcase1000 i have been looking at both, i see it like this... i like the way the pioneer is more similar to a cdj with button placement and cue/play style. however the HUGE HUUUUGE drawback to the pioneer is that it CAN ACCEPT NO OTHER INPUTS...so no adding cdjs or turntables to it... and it has no soundcard anyway.

  • @specialcase1000 the S4 you can use on its own and just plug into the mixer at the club... or add your own cdjs or turntables into the S4 and use THOSE to control traktor if you prefer the feel of a turntable for doing some scratch work, or cdjs for additional decks...

  • @DoctorIncredible Right exactly. And don't forget the S4 Hardware was made by the same company who makes the software, so compatibility with Traktor and upgrades are always going to be up to date and run in parallel.

  • MOREEEEEEEeeeee PLEASSSEEEEEEEeeee

  • awesome video! i have got to find out what type of usb cable your using??? that is bad A!

  • i'm a starter in beatmixing and i learned so much and understands the S4 very well in your tutorial, really appreciated much your help... thank you!

  • here is what i want to do, i want to make my own mix in ableton live 8 and add effects on stage. help me please. i dont know what i need to get.

  • @XxXDevilRejectsXxX Check out my video on how to route audio from Traktor into Ableton. This will get you started. For effects there are TONS out there, and there are no rules. Get creative! Check out effectrix, stutter edit, some of the ableton effects... experiment!

  • how do you get to speak through your headphones?

  • @ptesls818 using the headphone as a lowfi mic is probably such an old trick, you would have to shovel the dust off. this works the same with all electro-magnetic vibration transducers ( speaker, mic, headphone, ... ) : put current on them, and they vibrate. vibrate them, and they produce current.

if you plug in a mic in the headphone connector, it should produce sound.

  • @ptesls818 Just plug in the 1/4" adapter into the microphone input of your S4, or any mixer and it will work just like a real microphone

  • any headphones will do the microphone thing??

  • THX MAN !!!

  • hey could anyone tell me how in the video the microphone is being able to be used with the looper, because when i plug mine in i can hear the sound coming out but it wont let me loop it or anything

don't know if ive explained this very well hahaha

    xx

  • @laurawalfordmusic you need to set the input on the loop recorders drop down menu

  • Is ableton software better than fl studio?

  • he really dug the wahwha wee wow sounds he was making didnt he?

  • how do we enroll in dubspot, how much, and how are the courses?

  • @sesarman all of the info is at dubspot dot com

  • Dude...Ur Tut's Rock...Thanks.

  • how do i record my mix?? PLEASE REPLY

  • @assais go to the Traktor Preferences - Recording.

  • whats a loop??

  • I have a question about the controller. Does the Cue/Play buttons react as fast as a CDJ 1000/2000? Or is it a little slower. Great tutorial by the way! :-)

  • With Loop Recorder, is it possible to drop the loop onto a deck (to scratch it) instead of into the Sample bank?

  • so you can use any type of headphonesfor loop recorder? i tired puting headphones in mic input but still didnt work. i only have standard headphones atm will these still work.

  • What kind of usb cable is that?

  • can u assign a channel of the mixer to the microphone to adjust the high mid low of the mic??

  • anyone know how to control master tempo on the kontrol s4 the way pioneer cdj does it? any reply would be appreciated :)

  • @fealmor Turn Key Lock on in Traktor. Its the musical note in the decks in Traktor. That is the same thing as master tempo. You can also engage it on the Traktor S4 by holding shift and pushing the Play button

  • yahhh i read a little bit further into this post and apparently headphones normally work like a mic, just opposite, so if you plug it into your mic jack you can use them as shitty headphones.

  • thanks for this video !

  • Headphones: Ultrasone dj1 pro....

But what i want to know is how to tell if you have a mic in your headphones....Ive looked everywhere. Even on those headphones the website says nothing about an internal mic.

  • @ukneekstyle Most DJ headphones can be used as a mic.

  • Is it possible to sample from my s4 directly to the maschine? i have them hooked up to each other through midi with no audio interface.

  • @MrNynaxx Yes, you can make a shortcut in Maschine to your Traktor Samples folder, where all of your samples are stored. Once you sample something in Traktor S4, you can then go to Maschine, find that sample and then drag it into a sound slot and chop it up.

  • Does traktor saves any of the loops from the loop recorder anywhere in my computer? Or is that a one shot thing.

  • @mettlddomami I know it saves the audio of the loops from the loop decks, not sure if it does it for the loop recorder. I'll ask Endo and get back to you.

  • @mettlddomami you can save it by transfering the loop into a sample deck

  • what type of headphones do you need to record throught them like in the vid???

  • @beatjugglez you can use any headphones, but they will never sound good compared to a microphone.

  • @DubSpot what kinda headphones are you using?

  • @sesarman Ultrasone DJ1 headphones

  • @DubSpot my headphone does not work, does iit have to do with the settings or the set up with traktor itself?

  • @lifsa you need to go to preferences - output routing and set the monitor output to whatever output you have your headphones plugged into. Then you need to turn on the Cue (Headphone) button inside of Traktor to hear the track in the headphones

  • @DubSpot

How does that work? Does it record the movement of the actual speaker inside the headphone. If that's so, then I'm impressed.

  • @DubSpot You are correct about the headphone forced to be a microphone, but it did make me laugh and remind me of a great DJ named Mistykiss. He used to do that all the time!

  • Dear people,

First of all, very nice tut !

Does anyone know artist plus title of the track that is played for a few seconds in the beginning of the video ?

What a deep and sexy awesome great track !

    All the best,

    Vanhaze

  • @vanhaze2000 The tracks in the beginning of the video are Module II - Eggbox [Manual Music] mixed with Nick Muir & John Digweed - Satellite - Maetrk Funky Remix [Bedrock]. Glad you like :-)

  • What headphones is DJ Endo using in this video?

  • the loop recorder works perfect with my s4 but im having trouble using effects on the loop, it just doesn't affect my recorded loop. please help, thanks i appreciate it.

  • this should be 3/10. what's goin on - keep goin!

  • @yanivtalmusic i mean...he pretty much covered everything lol

  • lol he looks so happy with his beat

  • @ElMariachi958 He sure does. I would say goofy happy. lol.

  • can i record live sets on the s4? and how

  • @striker0990 yeah you can. i dont have one but i know theres some feature that lets you record the master out and inputs nd shit.

  • @BackBurner144 There is a built in Recorder that lets you record the INTERNAL signal in Traktor S4. Your recordings will come out sounding amazing since you don't have to run audio through cables, mixer etc and you can get that "in the box" sound

  • Great Videos Endo, very helpful. Could you PLEASE do a video on the mapping features of the Traktor Kontrol S4? Particularly mapping a control to change the pitch of a track in semitone steps to facilitate key mixing? Cheers!!

  • @MrRexxyboy I am actually working on a custom MIDI mapping for the Traktor Kontrol S4. Will keep you guys posted! I might put a knob for key mapping in it. Good idea. If you want to add a knob to change the key, you will add an "Add in" command in the MIDI mapping window (preferences - controller manager - Kontrol S4 device). The command is under add in - mixer - key. Set the value to Increase (or decrease), then assign which deck, and the sensativity (play around with dif sensativities).

  • @DeeJayEndo what are the two cables you have plugged into the back of the mixer on the left? Also, I noticed that the kontrol s4 does not have a booth control button/output- what are the ways around this for club set ups?

I'd liek to be able to hook them up to my monitors and as well as the main system

  • @alexkwong31 Those are 1/4" Cables. I have them plugged into the Master Output of my S4. Unfortunately you can use only one output on the S4. What I do is plug the S4 into a DJ mixer and use the DJ mixers booth out to adjust the booth volume

  • hahahahahahahahaha this guy is soooo jokes......i love the last couple of minutes wheres hes smiling at the things hes saying in his vocal recordings

  • @deadmau5Jr yeah, plus, you'd have to switch your headphones to the mic input for it. it ends up sounding bassy & muffled with a weaker signal than that of your mic's too.

  • @deadmau5Jr not very good quality, but yes, it is possible. my first "electric guitar" was an acoustic with a mounted headphone running into a home receiver. it'll work, but much better with an actual mic.

  • Definitely a hot product BUT amateurs really don't need that in the beginning. Would love to own one but there's simply no need for 4 deck support and all the cue functions. Simply concentrate on easy transitions and the choice of music in the first two years.

  • @adrenerg

yea ill agree I really want to try one of these out but only becasue i've djed on turntables for years and been getting into making my own productions.

also I dont have a car so taking my gear to gigs is always a problem.

I think having 4 decks and fxs and everything all at once is just to much for a beginner itll just sound like mess you have to have a wealth of knowledge on not just music but playing with all genres of music and learning what works and what can be worked on

  • @adrenerg The great thing about the S4 is you can keep it as simple as you want, or get as advanced as you want. They purposely put the volume faders for Decks A&B in the middle for DJs who are using only 2 decks. The cue function is great for jumping to the beginning of a track, and will save you time finding the one.

  • is it really possible to talk into your headphones plugged into the mic input ?

or is it just a joke ?

  • @DJPats94 its possible.

  • @DJPats94 sure you can, in your left headphone

  • @DJPats94

its easy but not the best solution..but if you have to or want to for what ever reason be my guest.. but i don't think its good for the headphones. I have no idea though I've only tired it a handful of times. and of course its not a microphone so you can't use it for any reason other than to say some random speech

  • @DJPats94 Of course it's possible to use your headphones as a mic. The BASIC idea is the same, you have a membrane that vibrates when a small amount of current is run through the coil on witch it sits. With a mic its the same but then in reverse. It's even possible to use your mic as a speaker (I strongly suggest you NOT to try this at home)

  • mines here in 5 days been waiting all month, stuck in customs since the 9th ahhhh i know this controller back to front and i dont even have it yet :P

    cheers for vids very informative

  • Appreciate the rundown. I don't use S4 but atleast I got a good rundown of quan. & snap.

  • 2nd!

  • First!
