OMG, this episode scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Well, most of the Batman Beyond episodes were pretty dark, but I think the scariest regular episode out of any non-DVD Batman episode was that one with the Scarecrow in the original Animated series with the fear gas. Scarecrow in general scared me, the creepy freak. >.>
this is like something out of resident evil or silent hill or some other freak game...no wonder this show got cancelled...lol...too violent for kids no doubt xD ( I still miss it)
Hey Come on Now folks if this was actually Resident Evil the dude would have an eyeball growing out of his ass. And as for Akira, the entire mutation sequence does sort of look like the animators copied it word for word except instead of becoming a giant baby he becomes a.....Thingy.
i'm trying to figure out who this guy is supposed to be. i mean, you look at a lot of Terry's 'original' villains and they're really updated old villains. i mean, inque was obviously clay face, Blight was Terry's Joker( since he indirectly created him, just like Bruce indirectly created Joker) that Chapel guy from the slappers episode could be an update to Bane, spell binder could be considered scarecrow, stalker kind of looked like zsaz and so on. so, who is this guy? Maybe an update to manbat?
@TheSonofstark Mostly likely Manbat, since he messed around with animal/human genetics like this guy did. And he did turn Terry into a Manbat earlier in the episode.
@jerrycho13 The only dude he really killed directly was Mr. Fixx in the first episode; the rest of them are indirect kills or he was unable to save a villain due to whatever reason. Bruce once uppercutted the Joker off of a moving train into a smokestack, so like father, like son, XD
Let's see, based on the visible mutations, it looks like he had--- Eagle (head) Snake (Constrictor) Crab (left arm) some Elephant or Tortoise (left leg) Spider (eyes) ? ? ? ?
Blade 1 anybody? Near the end when Blade is fighting Frost and he's hitting him with all those vampire expansion vials until Frost finally explodes?! Maybe this is before your time lol.
I'm surprised he lived long enough to get blown up; surely a transformation like that would kill anyone on shock factor alone. Makes for a good monster though.
@Kingpin1880 Maybe he was running on instinct rather than thought at that point , he did stop talking altogether after a while. That and the trying to eat Batman part.
I don't know what was more poorly thought out, Couvier turning himself into that snake monster (Turning into a snake never helps, ask Jafar) or Terry turning him into a hulking behemoth.
That was a dart gun loaded with anti-splice cure guns, it's what he used to return that cat-like girl, minotaur like guy, and lizard like boy back into the humans, the onces being loaded on the cop paddy wagon. As for the Naga change the lead bad guy did, WOW! If I had be a Splicer, I would want to be like the Birdmen warriors from the old Sega Shining Force Games, my BB OC was such a splicer, but a good one, who was deaf and blind and got spliced, for curative reasons, but it really backfired.
Man, worst freakin batman ever. Used a gun, got his ass kicked, then proceeded to kill someone. Pretty much against everything the first batman was for.
"Chimera" actually refers to creatures that are a combination of more than one. Actual scientists sometimes create chimera cells for research purposes.
@syafiqjabar I know they do, but I'm just pointing out that that creature he became is a Naga, a mythical creature which is half snake half human, which are also shown in the show Monster rancher.
Genetic engineering, also called genetic modification, is the direct human manipulation of an organism's genome using modern DNA technology. It involves the introduction of foreign DNA or synthetic genes into the organism of interest. The introduction of new DNA does not require the use of classical genetic methods, however traditional breeding methods are typically used for the propagation of recombinant organisms.
An organism that is generated through the introduction of recombinant DNA is considered to be a genetically modified organism. The first organisms genetically engineered were bacteria in 1973 and then mice in 1974. Insulin-producing bacteria were commercialized in 1982 and genetically modified food has been sold since 1994.
The most common form of genetic engineering involves the insertion of new genetic material at an unspecified location in the host genome. This is accomplished by isolating and copying the genetic material of interest using molecular cloning methods to generate a DNA sequence containing the required genetic elements for expression, and then inserting this construct into the host organism.
Other forms of genetic engineering include gene targeting and knocking out specific genes via engineered nucleases such as zinc finger nucleases or engineered homing endonucleases.
Genetic engineering techniques have been applied in numerous fields including research, biotechnology, and medicine. Medicines such as insulin and human growth hormone are now produced in bacteria, experimental mice such as the oncomouse and the knockout mouse are being used for research purposes and insect resistant and/or herbicide tolerant crops have been commercialized.
Genetically engineered plants and animals capable of producing biotechnology drugs more cheaply than current methods (called pharming) are also being developed and in 2009 the FDA approved the sale of the pharmaceutical protein antithrombin produced in the milk of genetically engineered goats.
@eldon498 Jason Todd wasn't big on it either (not that he existed in this universe or if he did, he never suited up as robin), granted lazurus pits do fuck with the mind a bit
I actually felt that they ended the Splicer thing too soon, imagine: with all those vials, having the recipes to those serums etc any madman could easily create a massive army of enhanced humans or even monsters like Kuvia not to mention any dimestore thug could become a serious threat, also since it opens an avenue of easy power-up any side could use it to their advantage. The Splicers have so much plot wrecking potential it's staggering, if someone else took up Kuvia's work...damn~...
@Gam3Junkie7 Because the whole human-into-animal thing loses steam quickly and turns rather silly after a short time. For proof, check out Curse of the Kobra parts 1 and 2. The first part was pretty good, but then the second part when we find out their ultimate goal things quickly go downhill.
@TheTigerwolf55 I'm not watching that again sorry but I get it but you're not seeing it the way I am: using specific strands of genetic code you could have people with even minor physical enhancements yet have like the ability to blend in like a chameleon, have very hard skin, enhanced all around abilities, an improved healing factor, flight, and most of all: easily accessible.
It wouldn't ever get old so long as the person who uses them doesn't make it predictable.
@axeman1314 a chimera is an animal with three heads, a goat, lion, and snake I think, with the body of a lion, tail of a snake, and wings of a bird, a shimera could be something else but I might be an idiot :P
@DSkehan2004 He refered to himself as a Chimera, in this case meaning he spliced himself with traits of several different animals to create one creature.
anyone else notice that unlike when Bruce was batman villans die more often around terry? o.Onot much of a hero. comissioner gordan: where's Ink? Batman: over there and there and there and I think you got a little of her under your nice clean boots comiss :D
