people get soooooooo wrapped up in names and origin of manufacture...
SHUT UP ABOUT IT
a person should NOT be allowed to buy a guitar until they learn how to change and wind strings, pollish fretwire, intonate a bridge and turn an allen wrench on a truss rod.
once you can do those things, ANY SQUIER is a fine guitar.
yes, the pickups and pots and tuners should be replaced too at some point, but lets face it most ppl reading this aren't recording tracks for PBS...
...or any other reputable community based broadcast outfit, so what's the difference -----------FOR NOW--------- alot of people that read shit like this work for minimum wage, or are asking for $200 guitars for a birthday present.
FACE IT these guitars are better than anything else at any music store for less than $300.
GO BUY ONE just get it over with, quit reading about what i think and PLAY MUSIC MOTHERFUCKERS :)
man, this thing rocks, since i bought this ive gotten a gibson LP standard, and american made strat and a martin d-28, all pretty damn high quality guitars, along with about 11 others i have in my collection, this is one guitar that i just cant get enought of, i keep going back to it and it just feels and sounds right, squires not renowned for making a good prduct but this thing has seen some miles in less than desirable ways and shes still rock solid, Go for it, you wont be disappointed.
I own the Custom, the humbucker version. I too fell in love with mine, its my main axe now. Im a sucker for Teles anyway though. Anyway, of course Squiers arent like a "meticulously crafted" guitar, thats why they are what you'd call "affordable". Besides, if you find one with poor setup, in 10 minutes you can set it up to your taste for free...
I dropped by a Guitar Center today and asked but they didn't have one. I played a Vintage Modified Tele with a bucker in the neck instead and it was just kind of crappy. Desperately in need of a set-up and a string-change. It took me 5 minutes just to get it reasonably in tune.
So I'm a little put off but I hope that that particular floor model was a lemon.
yeah, thats why i bought mine, cause it was cheap, and felt great as soon as i played it, and i need a guitar to travel with and not give a damn about. But i fell in love with it after a little while and now i treat her the same as i treat my gibson.
I was going to ask, how does it play? Squiers, even the nicer ones, are a far cry from professionally, meticulously crafted guitars. However, you seem to be able to lay down some great licks on it.
no doubt that the taiwanese made squier is no pro quality crafted peice but she honestly plays incredibly. I played it for about 30 seconds in the music store and i was sold after that, it just felt right, and it sounds great, and im not afraid about any dings or nicks on it because of the inexpesnisivness of it. If you can get your hands on one give it a run, and if it feels right within the first minute, i say take it, you wont be disappointed.
another tele custom II owner here, they are fine guitars ...I also have a MIM Tele, different tones obviously ....the Squier is a blues rocker the Mexi is a honky tonkin'love em both! Thanks for the vid
I'm really likein this tele I will have to pick one up no doubt now, thx for playin some blues on that so I could finally see if I was getting this or the regular version.
