That is awesome i am purchasing a 125 gallon aquarium here in the next few weeks and was looking for stands can you please send me the plans for this stand? My email is cmetz3@wvup.edu
thanks in advance..also, a quick question, do you need wood cutter to cut all the wood or will home depot cut it into all the dimensions i need??? im really new to building things on my own ....you can respond thru my email minhshin@gmail.com thanks
Is really amazing!!!!! I love it....can you please send me the plans, I'm gonna put my husband work on this project. This is my address perliux_flowers@hotmail.com
Hi, did you use cap moulding around the edges of the plywood and the corners of the stand where the plywood meet? If not, what type of moulding or trim did you use and did you use a finish nailer or glue to connect it to the plywood? Thanks!
no cap moulding was used. All hardwood trims were used and applied flushed at the top and 45 degree cut to meet at corners. All trims were nailed to plywood with finish nail gun.
hello.. tht is an amazing stand!!!!!!!! im just wondering about how much is the cost excluding the stain and screws and wood glue you used to put the stand together.. also is ur tank 60in by 18in by 26in??
As I have replied to others, the total material cost was about $300 CAD. So if you just roughly exclude the cost of screws, stain (NO WOOD GLUE USED) of $70, there you would have about $200 for the cost of woods. Note finish pine lumbers were used in this project; the cost would be less if regular 2x4 framing lumbers were used.
The tank dimension is: Top Dim: 6' (70') x 18"; Height: Approx. 30"

Great stand! I'm on a quest to build my own stand for my 72 gallon bowfront aquarium. Keep in mind that I'm a woodworking virgin and new to all this DIY stuff. Wish me luck. Thanks for sharing!
Whats going on man..I see you can send one guy your plans for this. Do you mind if you share them with me? Im not to familiar with youtube. Can you somehow get back to me? Thanks.
I do have a sketched plan for this stand. if you really want a copy, let me know and I'll be happy to send you one. You can also send me a message or question via my YouTube's channel, I'll try to do what I can to help.
What a beautiful stand. I would like to copy this for my 180.
The feet appear to be set back Iam guessing that they are directly below the 2x4s but outer skin extends beyond the outer edge of the 2x4s, giving the appearance of being set back - am I correct?
I may be incorrect, but the #2 platform (identical to the base platform) does not appear to add any strength structurally. Was that your original intent, or did you insert it for additional height?
Just FYI, I used 2x3 finsished pies for building the frames/box of this project. But 2x4's will definitely be stronger.
So the idea of the # 2 platform (identical to the base one) was so that i could easily secure it to the vertical supports and then I could easily secure the top platform (which was laid on the sides of the 2x3's) altogether. I believe this does give some structural support to the top of the stand. But if you find it's not needed, you can choose not to build it.

Using 2x4 studs is a good choice. But for a 180 Ga, I would add one more support in the middle or spaced equally, e.i. 5 support frames instead of 4 as of my plan.
I used finish pines for the frame, finish plywood for walls and doors & hardwood trims all around. For stain, PolyShades - Stain & Polyurethane in 1 step (classic black satin finish) was used.

Are the supports 2x4's? Where did you get the plans for this stand?
crayola620 1 year ago
@crayola620
The supports are all 2x3 finish pines - (you could use 2x4's for stronger support). The plan for this stand was self designed.
PTranProduction 1 year ago
I'll try it with stud 2x4's for my 180 you think that will be sufficient?
crayola620 1 year ago
@crayola620
Using 2x4 studs is a good choice. But for a 180 Ga, I would add one more support in the middle or spaced equally, e.i. 5 support frames instead of 4 as of my plan.
