She stopped by one of the Seattle Top 40 stations, on which they played on of the songs "as a joke". What happened is that enough people actually LIKED the song that it ended up on the station's playlist for a month...

I grew up in a home with a slight degree of racial prejudice. When Star Trek went into syndication and I got my first look at Lt. Uhura, I fell in love immediately. From that day forward I vowed to unlearn anything that prompted any vestige in my mind of racial disharmony.

For such inspiration I am forever indebted to my first love, Nichelle Nichols.
