I see that this video is old, I hope you're still responding to comments. Anyway, I think it's natural for children to veer away from their parents values as they grow up and come into their own. The mistake parents make is believing that if we raise our children in the church they will become Christians. The mistake youth make is associating the values of Christianity with their parents.
@mccallclarence I'm still responding. I agree that both sides make mistakes in the whole matter. I've made plenty myself and have only recently learned how to forgive my mother for her part. I'm still firm about not attending her church or any like it, but we're at least on speaking terms again. Recent events with a friend though have shown just how badly parents can screw up. Give a kid no freedom, and they'll break away and run off as fast as they can. Thanks for commenting!
@reincarnatedalphonse So glad to hear that you and your mother are back on terms. I hope all the best for you and your family.
I once read in an article that if you use religion to control your children they will use religion to declare their independence. I paraphrased but that was the idea. Does this kind of ring true for you?
@mccallclarence Yeah, that does ring true. Most of my friends who have grown up being controlled by religion take a sort of religious defiance to break free of the grip of religion. Kind of ironic how people use religion to break free of religion. I guess that's sort of like fighting fire with fire. It can work, but it's tricky.
@samn100 Yep, they're probably leaving because of me. They take one look at me, scream, and never set foot in a church again because of the post traumatic stress disorder I instilled in them from an early age. I'm still undecided as to whether this is a good thing or a bad thing.
The answer is very simple. Kids are becoming critical thinkers and are able to sniff out primitive bronze age nonsense better than preceding generations. If this trend towards rational thinking stays the course, I look forward to the future
I get a little apprehensive thinking about the future because I keep looking at the chaos occurring right now, but I can see where you're coming from, and I do hope the logical/rebellious generation that's been popping up does help to smooth things over and get rid of a lot of the nonsense in society. It's got to happen sooner or later, and hopefully it happens in our lifetime. A peaceful and sane world would be wonderful.
First of all the "church" is a club of religous people doing boring rituals week after week. God's church is invisible and ONLY he calls them, not mom and dad. Most church people are unregenerate because they are converted by men.
Google "the end of the church age and after" for the truth of the bible. God's judgment has come upon all churches regardless of how faithful they are or not and will soon transition to the whole world. Now is the time to come out of the desolation and seek Christ directly in the Bible. Babylon the Great is actually all churches worldwide. Check out a Family Radio station near you for faithful Bible teaching. The Great Tribulation is now. Revelation 18:4 is a command to come out of the churches.
H.R. 4040 would affect direct spending; therefore it is subject to the pay-as-you-go (paygo) requirement of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990. OMB's paygo estimate for this bill is under development.
Yes, I have a problem with organized religion too, which is why I started attending the Unitarian Universalist Church. Some people go the direction of shunning it all while others go the direction of embracing it all. Either way works fine, so long as the person doesn't start treating people the way their parents treated them, heh. Have you found a spiritual practice you enjoy, or are you still searching?
Yep, that's what I meant. It doesn't matter to me whether a person's spiritual practice is part of an organized religion, just so long as they figure out what works for them and don't run from all spirituality just because someone left a bad taste in their mouth. Glad to see you found something that works for you. :)
When you speak of "one real truth" do you mean love? That's the only absolute truth I know of, lol. Everything else seems to waver in certain circumstances.
Well that's a good point but, love yes but that's not what i'm trying to convey I mean that wwhen you die theres only one right anwser and is oyurs correct...?
Lol, I see your point, but what if imagination precedes reality? What if those who believe they're going to heaven, hell, purgatory, summerland, nirvana, or nowhere do simply because they believe it to be so? Imagination sure precedes the invention of a thing...what if it precedes the existence of a thing as well? No, I'm not talking Christian Scientist stuff, more of an animistic philosophy of everything being Spirit. Just an interesting thing to chew on.
Lol, I had originally intended to tell my story in this rant, but it was dragging on too long and going off topic, so I edited it out. Had to get the video under ten minutes somehow, hehe.
I actually left because my parents were very strict SDA Christians who didn't seem to be portraying a loving God to me, especially when they'd make a rule and then change it the next day, and I would get in trouble for breaking the new rule even if I didn't know about it. That didn't sound consistent with their "loving God" story, so I started to search elsewhere and eventually left the church.
you look like you have down syndrome. i hope you get breast cancer

Oh, are you trying to say that the only truth is one's own? I believe that too. Truth seems to be rather subjective, lol.

Well in truth it really means we can't all be right...Is what I really trying to say...
