Oh... so Denver lets all dogs run around ungated and unleashed? C'mon. There's a law about letting your dogs run around unleashed and ungated and it has nothing to do with the breed. And there are plenty of other breeds people use to guard drugs and act as attack dogs... they're still in Denver. The dogs who were most hurt from the ban and death-sentance were dogs who were liscensed and who's owners were following the law... not drug dealers or people who let their dogs run loose.
I live in Colorado and the law was passed because we have had so many attacks, a couple in which people were mauled to death. Drug dealers were using them for protection and many times they were not even fenced in properly. I'm sorry about what happened but the needs of the community come first. Owners were told that they had so much time to find other placements for their dogs before the ban took effect.

I came to tears when I read "all 38 are now dead" I know thousands of pits have been euthanized because of this unconstitutional law, but I had not heard this story yet, and it makes me absolutly sick, I will definatly be writing to Kory Nelson

ive never owned a pit bull but i have met many and most of them were very sweet. now i try to respect everyones opinion but when people critize others on their cause and belifes it just means that the dont have a couse of their own. when you say its just an animal you are only proving that you dont care for others so unless you go out and do things for other people dont go around bashing what other people do.your just making an ass out of yourself.

It's not just about loving dogs. It's about opposing the mindset that says there's nothing wrong with killing 38 dogs and puppies that could have gone to out-of-state rescues and had good lives at no cost or risk to the city. It's the mindset that says that every dog of this type, including therapy dogs, search-and-rescue dogs, service dogs, and puppies should be killed because many are afraid of a myth attached to their appearance.

Denver laws suck! I had to get rid of 2 that were gentle as hell! I had papers and they were full blooded with 50 years of the breed. I emailed city councel and I never got a response from them. They fucken suck. MF's. They have no clue on how this affected my family. They were part of my family!!

I just wanted to say that I am sorry for your loss. We had a pit bull that was as gentle as a lamb. I personally would have fought to the death to protect her. Ifthey are raised properly (as with any living creature---humans included) they can be a wonderful addition to a family. If raised in a world of hate, they adapt (as do humans) to that environment. If they can ban a breed just because of a few bad situations, who becomes next on the list???

Is Kory Nelson head of the Denver Animal Shelter? How did they get away with this abuse? An issue just as important as BSL in Denver is, why wasn't anyone punished for this? I think that is why i am so pro pitbulls, because i think it is disgusting how the human race can judge a human or dog based on the color of their skin, or what breed of dog they happen to be. Actually they didn't start off as fighting dogs, they started off as working dogs like most others. Humans took it upon themselves to make them fighting dogs. Any pitbull properly socialized will be fine with any other animal, dog, cat...

i like pitbulls we use to have one, very friendly with humans but i have to admit, didn't like any other dogs, and if it went near a dog, and the dog happen to Growl, it would be all over, it would want to rip it apart. if you know how to control your dog, and make it wear proper gear in public, you should be fine. But you can't deny there background of being a fighting Dog.

36 breeds of dogs have caused human fatalities. Should we ban them all? The dogs in this case were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. They hurt nobody. Neither has my dog. Don't paint them all with the same brush.
